  2. Seems fair enough. Everyone works for money at the end of the day and what he says about us finding it almost impossible to be 6th again is true.
  3. She/They have invested a hell of a lot of money, very wisely, in the infrastructure of the club to help oversee the 'rise' since they took over. We have been acknowledged to be one of the best in terms of scouting, sports science and have a great Academy and TG with top facilities. That is brilliant. But that also needs continuous investment if we want to even remain where we are now. Other medium sized clubs are wise-ing up, look at the plans teams like Everton have infrastructure wise and further up the chain the transformation of Spurs. Once people see what you have done well, they look to replicate. If you begin to lack off even for a few months, then some of your advantage can be eroded. Not saying this will happen with Saints but its pretty clear that if we want to stay a top 10 PL side then eventually you need a transfer window with more outlay than incomings and that, in the face of competition, you will need to spend across the whole club to stay ahead. If she cannot support that then maybe it is the right time to appreciate the huge amount of great work they have done and sell. Presuming she believes any buyer can offer what she cannot. (Big presumption of course).
  4. Alternative view: if the Liebherr's have decided to sell then it is better for us to be sold because we operate in a league/sport where no longer investing enough money can see a quick decline. Once they make that decision (to sell) then its better for a sale to happen (obviously to the right party) because its a sign they no longer see SFC as a long term investment.
  5. Clearly because the Checkatrade trophy isn't a development opportunity for them. They have progressed beyond that. Its a development opportunity for the likes of Olomola, Sims, Hesketh. Which is why those players will continue to play in it and the likes of Hojbjerg and Redmond will never feature in it (besides the fact most of the games so far have clashed with either European or Intl games).
  6. Pathetic.

This. He had a similar situation to Harry Kane. Neither should have been. Ironically, if it wasn't for Shaw being Shaw he probably wouldn't have been.
  8. Hojbjerg and Redmond FFS. You have missed the point of the competition.
  9. Cedric will be back for this. Bloody hope Forster is fine. Tadic saying he will wear a mask but should be ok.
  10. A massive differential has been the relapse of Long to his more typical form *****il injury of course). From about December onwards last year he was our main striker but is yet to score for us this season I think.
  11. Most I've ever celebrated an Intl goal. Amazing moment against the grain of Intl football which is utter dross.
  12. The comments are all a bit poor from Fonte IMO. Have lost a bit of respect for him over the summer and into this season.
  13. Backup RB targetted by the looks of it. http://sportwitness.co.uk/southampton-24-year-old-luxembourg-international-fee-wouldnt-even-reach-1m/ Expect Martina will leave on a free at the end of the season (or for a small fee in Jan if this deal goes through).
  14. Sure we will pick a young team as we have in the other games. Jay Rod won't play, especially as Long is injured. Gardos the only possible overage player.

McCarthy is injured so Forster and Saints are likely just playing it safe.
  17. This is his worst attribute (along with coming off his line) and yet it barely ever costs us. Comparatively we have far more issues than Forster. He is a key player and one of the top 5 or 6 in the league in his position. If we had a striker anywhere near that we would be excellent.
  18. What attacking system would you play then Dez?
  19. Puel keeps saying we have a "young team" not used to playing every three days, but its not really true in the league, is it? https://southamptonfc.com/news/2016-11-06/claude-puel-post-hull-city-2-1-southampton-reaction Today Redmond was our youngest player (22) and he has well over 100 career apps. Seven of our starting XI were over 25 and the others were (Redmond aside) VVD, Clasie and Romeu - all experienced for their age. Many of these players played European or Intl football before joining us. Just seems a strange thing to continually underline. Today wasn't a lesson for a young team at all.
  20. Being saved for the Crawley game because its our best chance of reaching a cup final.
  21. Yoshida at RB today.
  22. Great player, but of course you'd to pay to watch him. Thats kind of how going to watch professional football works.
  23. Assuming you are family, be proud - he has been great. Also seems like an intelligent lad who comes across superbly. That clearly helps his football.
  24. He is literally just cover for Bertrand. There is a huge drop in quality between Bertrand and Targett. McQueen has been a big upgrade on Targett of late and has lessened the impact of Bertrand being out. He just seems more assured and better physically suited to this level of football than MT. No slight on Matt. PL is a harsh world and Targett struggles in many games at that level.
