  1. All the hallmarks of a relegation season. Poor home atmosphere Players getting stick from fans Goalkeeper woefully short of confidence Can't score Concede late goals Teams expected to struggle haven't Lots of ****y PR videos going about
  2. What do you think? Given who we have played and who we have to play before the end of 2017 I think probably 19th above Palace, possibly 18th above Swansea. Highly likely to be bottom 5 at Christmas now and probably in a relegation battle after 4 top 10 finishes. Wins: Palace (a), West Ham (h), West Brom (a) Draws: Newcastle (h), Brighton (a), Hudds (a), Swansea (h) Defeats: Watford (h), Man Utd (h), Stoke (a), Burnley (h) ****ing absymal start against those teams. Only Utd are a team with better players than us.
  3. We have failed to beat Swansea, Watford, Stoke, Huddersfield, Newcastle and Brighton so far this season. Combined with the upcoming games then its a must win game today for me. Draw or lose today and lose against the majority of the top 6 as most teams do and by Christmas we will likely be bottom 6 and that means a relegation fight whether people want to believe that or not. Today is huge.
  4. He won't play two up front until Lemina is back and it makes little difference anyway. Two up front isnt the answer to us being more of a goal threat.
  5. Its more than a fair question I would say and surely something the club have noted and are probably concerned by, in addition to that fact no young players who have not yet played in the first team are anywhere remotely near doing so. Not that I would expect the Duncan Castles of Saints FC to acknowledge that of course.
  6. Definitely easier to stay in. My mate got verbally abused by a group of builders in Selco a couple of days ago because of that weird Halloween video about the Black Box!
  7. Considering how many players also get recruited in between age 12-20, rather than being with us since age 6 then yes, its suprising. Alao the likes of Slattery who was U16 captain and then now can't make the squad. Poor coaching?
  8. Number of players in the latest U17 to U21 England squads: 0 Pretty embarassing for a club that pushes its Academy so heavily in media and PR videos.
  9. Worth listening to what MP said after the game when thinking of team selection. He said we didn't have a player of Lemina's type before we signed him and that he does a lot of running and covers a lot of ground. Therefore he felt he had to replace him with two players in the middle which meant only one striker. I totally get that. All our other CM options are slow, JWP, Hojbjerg, Romeu, to a slightly lesser extent Davis (and even Clasie when he was here). That definitely makes a difference.
  10. Great guy and one of our best ever signings I think. Still well worth a starting XI space.
  11. Our recruitment planning is good that the black box can accurately calculate when our top Managerial target is out of work so we can swoop saving millions in compensation. We must be the only team to always get our top choice without paying a penny to another club. Adkins the last Manager we paid for.
  12. I think he is so overly media trained that he just opens his mouth and the words that are drummed into him just come out. We didn't work their keeper at all and JWP was utter ****e.
  13. Just back and thought we were ****e against a team where you probably wouldn't swap any of their players for one of ours in the same position. Our attacking play is utterly dismal. JWP and Davis together doesn't work. In fact, what does JWP do from open play? No wonder MP said we needed to replace Lemina with two players. Very poor start. 13 from a very kind first 10 games is way below par. We will be bottom third of the table.
  14. VVD is miles better than Hoedt so whilst he is at the club he obviously starts every game he is available for. Yoshida also doesn't deserve to be dropped on current form. When Hoedt joined he hadn't been a first choice at Lazio for a while, so not sure what he was expecting once it was clear VVD was staying. Outbursts like this are poor.

Too loud in your (valid) opinion. In the (valid) opinion of most of the people I am near it has helped to boost the atmosphere in the 10mins before kick off. So has worked exactly as planned.
  16. Would consider Targett as a front sweeper for this one, covering the whole of the pitch: ---------------Forster--------------- CS------MY--------VVD--------RB >>>>>>>>> -------------------ML------------------ DT--------------SD---------------SB -------------------MG------------------

Perhaps not everyone thinks it is too loud. I think it has been a great change, so have emailed to let them know - thanks for the address. They also sent a survey out in the summer in which I and others mentioned the lack of anything to generate an atmosphere in the 10mins prior to kick off. Thankfully the club has acted.

Its much better since they pushed the awful My Way song back and added the montage and louder music. Its meant to generate an atmosphere and it helps I think.
  19. Palace do have a decent attacking lineup in theory and haven't been able to field Zaha, RLC and Benteke together yet so I wouldn't totally discount them although its obviously a tough position. We will likely be bottom 6 at Christmas due to our fixtures and the poor start we have had relative to the opposition played. So far we have been lucky with injuries but would certainly suffer if either full back, or Romeu/Lemina were out for any real period. I don't think we will go down, but during the season I certainly think the table will be grim reading in spells.
  20. I haven't booed him, home or away, nor sung his name. I can understand why he got the reaction he did at Palace where there were quite a few boos but it should have ended there, point made. What is the point when he is on the pitch, being one of our best players and trying to help us win? He knows he will have ****ed off Saints fans. No need to focus on it during a game at the detriment of the team.
  21. Very disappointed to hear booing for Nathan Redmond as he entered the pitch yesterday. He isn't in great form but always puts a shift in and tries his best. No Saints fan should be booing one of our players, let alone when he is clearly struggling for confidence. He did quite well when he came on I thought. I wonder what is the difference that means Redmond gets booed for trying hard but playing poorly yet some people stood up to applaud Shane Long off the pitch having played in exactly the same way? He is judged on some kind of other criteria for some reason? On that topic, its the same with Fraser Forster and the ironic cheers when he claims a ball. He is pretty terrible just now but that is hardly going to help him. Pretty bizarre really to do that to a player of the team you support, during a tight and must win match.

    Boufal

Pellegrino somewhat playing down the Boufal hype afterwards, which I fimd intriguing. Talking about the physicality of English football and that you can lose a game with any action so the time needs to be right to have someone like Boufal on the pitch. Certainly didn't sound like he is a definite starter at Brighton. That central role is his best position by a mile. Similarly, I thought Tadic was very good today as well.
  23. Brilliant goal gets us a much needed win. Diamond formation suits Tadic (and Boufal) but does lack width. Nice to see Pellegrino try something else though. VVD excellent and Bertrand much more like his usual self. We still don't test the opposition keeper nesrly enough though and one worldie goal doesn't change that. Re Boufal - he has made an impact in his last 3 subs apps and deserves a run of starts now. Like how he turns on the ball instead of just passing it back to where it came from. Only disappointments for me were WBA time wasting and Shane Long who again showed the sort of touch I saw on Wednesday at Lewes vs Corinthian Casuals. Has had a decent run now and hasn't got close to a goal or even a decent shot.
  24. Need a win today or the chance of being dragged into the bottom 3 soon becomes ever higher.

    Claude Puel

The decision to fire him was right even if the replacement isn't working out too well so far. Would be a poor appointment from Leicester for all the reasons he was deemed a failure here, namely that he cannot communicate with supporters.
