pointless geeing up the players when you sent out the wrong starting 11 and in the wrong formation
-
sorry to say i think Ronald has to take the big share of the blame, the initial starting lineup was just wrong. Whilst Targett, Yoshida and Soares were poor they had very little support from Long and Tadic I think second half was better but not sure if that was due to our changes or them just sitting back. The losing of Toby starts to look really serious

Agree about attitudes , the Club I am Chairman of have a very good female teams from Women(Winners of Hants 2 Last Season and Hants Intermediate Cup) to Under 10. Its about treating them completely equally with no special privileges, that can be hard when some of the girls leagues allow games to be regularly called off, without real punishment. The quicker the structure of the girls leagues, in terms of mini soccer to under 10, 9 v 9 Under 11 and 12 and then 11 a side the better, the quicker equality will happen

Remember it well , had to be their for people to believe you. as some else said marseille WAS tough especially after game Anderlecht was great occasion lots of people worst for wear on home trip but many of us still back in the pub at 10am when we got back before that i had a trip to Trondheim in norway but a different era up to the young to enjoy the experience now

Their "glory" days occurred because of a special set of circumstances from 1939 to 1950, when because of the war, they had many of the best players in the country serving in the Navy and living in the area, which boosted attendances and playing strength. From that point on they have been, except for when they sold their soul to buy a team and cup,on a downward spiral. Now it would cost millions to bring them to League 2 standard let alone Premier League

Interesting From the day Guy agreed to a reverse takeover we were doomed to administration if we ever fell out of the top flight and lost Sky Money, yes we had some good years, got a new stadium, but we also had a radio station and insurance business. The Club Finances were built on Sand supplied by Sky and had owners who were financially poor compared to other clubs But I do not blame Rupert he was just a businessman after a good living

15th not sure how many times any club can re build and maintain quality

With younger players the leap forward in their performances from the end of one season to the beginning of the next can be huge. I trust that whether it be Gardos, Stephens or Turnbull, if they are good enough they will play

Shame if was a Red and White Slide

pathetic and insecure i almost feel sorry for them, least between 63 and 93 they had some back bone, current bunch are really weak willed and pitiful

as a Chairman of a Football Club with over 370 players, the job done in integrating old players,Paine and Le Tiss, is something that really impresses me. As a Saints supporter of 54 years watching games , i never thought we would beat the Lawrie Mac years , proud to be wrong, brings a tear to my eyes a real COMMUNITY CLUB

Just like to add that a lot of the goals were in must win games, they were even more special because of the tension in the ground when they were scored.

sad news must have seen well over half of those apperances

Not really a title race as i remember it, biggest difference was that the media coverage of football was so much more low keyed. yes we lost to Everton in a semi final when at the time we were the best side in the country, Liverpool had gone of the boil, but never forget that 84 was the year of Moran at Fratton and like the relegation season you had to be there to understand the rivalry between the clubs. Money was the key still
