Oh for a Chris Wood.

I phoned the ticket office this morning to get physical season tickets as I’m out of the country for all of September and I wanted to be sure my grandchildren and whoever is accompanying them in my place didn’t run into any difficulties, especially as I’m unsure of WiFi access at certain times. I had no problem getting them but I did have to pay £30 for the privilege. (3 tickets). I was told the only people not being charged are those with accessibility requirements. My Notts Forest tickets were removed from the app whilst I was still on the phone.

I do think if you are an individual it will be straight forward to log in, scan and go. it just gets a bit more complicated if you’re taking younger children and you are out of the country and want to transfer your ticket in the open window before the match to another adult and also distribute the kids’ tickets to their phones. Until I face this scenario in September I won’t know how easy or difficult it is and if I run into difficulties is there going to be a mechanism at the ground in Southampton for getting it sorted before kick off?

I can’t see anything in the FAQ’s that prohibits transfer of tickets to a different age range. I’m away for all of September so I’m intending to transfer my ticket to my son but I’m an OAP and he isn’t. Has anyone spotted anything that I’ve missed that would stop this and on the same subject will people be able to transfer children’s tickets to adults? I’m not intending to do that but I can see it could be open to abuse. Like a previous poster I’m going to be in a different time zone when I heed to do the transfer : Canada, America and possibly somewhere in the Atlantic. It could get interesting.

I like the idea of being able to transfer my ticket to family/friends if I can’t go - I do now - illegally - but always wonder if they’re going to be ‘caught’. What I hadn’t realised was the family centre now called the kids zone is only available if you’ve got an under 14. My grandson falls out of that age range just before the new season starts. I’ve only had a quick scan at the prices in other areas but on first look it seems that the overall price for one oldie plus 2 under 17’s may have doubled. it was a real bargain last season at around £520 for the 3 of us but think I’m looking at around £1,000 next season.

Well after the horror stories on here I was dreading getting my tickets. I’m in India and won’t be home unfortunately but got the2 grandchildren theirs and an adult rather than OAP one for my son so hopefully no difficulties will arise. Took me less than 10 minutes from start to finish but I didn’t search for specific seats I let them offer me what they had.
-
I thought the prices were reasonable - a £25 and 2 £15’s for the grandkids. Shame I’m on holiday - hopefully they won’t look too closely at my non OAP son!

I’ve just received an email from the club saying my 3 seats in block 20 won’t be held for me due to the impact of the new away seating. As I take my grandchildren currently I’m not that bothered as if there is an influx of home fans into that block to sit next to the away fans I’d rather the kids were out of it. Not sure where we shall go or even if we will go. We’ve enjoyed the Championship but don’t relish returning to the Premier League if we only see 2 home league wins all season again!

To the Sweet Caroline tune ( and I’ll retire to my bunker to await the incoming rocks 😳) Where it began, was down to Russell Martin And now we know it's growing strong We didn’t believe But time relieved our doubting Who'd have believed you'd prove us wrong Goals, scoring goals Reaching out, touching me, touching you Sweet Saints of mine Good times never felt so good I've been inclined To believe we never would But now we Look at the points and it don't seem so lonely We’re going to make it to the top And when I hurt Hurting runs off my shoulders How can I hurt when supporting you Goals, scoring goals Reaching out, touching me, touching you Sweet Saints of mine Good times never felt so good.

Hi ho Silva 🤣🤣

Will season ticket prices be released now and will you renew?
Divergent replied to Paul Chuckle's topic in The Saints
Well I’m pretty pleased. In the family end with 2 grandchildren. £514 for all of us - works out under £23 per game in total for all 3. I was thinking of not renewing but at a divided up £7.50 per head it won’t matter so much if games are missed for whatever reason. (And this year that’s been mainly down to the rubbish we’ve had to endure). The only bright light at the end of what’s been a long black tunnel. -
I’m angry too, apart from the dire football, the lack of any direction from anyone supposedly managing on or off field operations and the impossibility of competing on any kind of level playing field with the teams owned by dubious states and consortiums, we are in danger of losing the youngsters who should be our supporters longer term. One home league win all season, I think only 6 last season. I’m fed up with taking my grandchildren who see mediocre talent play mediocre football week in and out and now say they don’t want to come next season because it’s no fun anymore. it’s no good me telling them the Championship and League 1 days were exciting and getting promoted was brilliant. They want, rightly or wrongly to see the big Premier League stars, to cheer on Southampton players they can identify with not some stepping stone young talent who know that all Saints can give them is the opportunity to move on to bigger and better things. Me? I’ve only missed one season as a season ticket holder in the last 28 years but I’m not that inclined to continue to be treated as a consumer of a poor product rather than a fan whose support is wanted. I’m fed up with having to alter plans so I can attend rearranged games at unsuitable times for the greater glory of Sky and BT. I’m angry that losing a football match can lower my mood for the whole weekend. I’m pissed off that I continue to care when the players don’t and stupidly continue to hope when it’s a lost cause. But I also know if I don’t renew come the first match of next season I’ll be wishing I had.

That interview was very bizarre. He sounds like a man who has totally lost the plot and is grabbing at straws to justify his existence as our manager and to explain why this team doesn’t perform. I honestly think someone at the Club needs to sit down with him and ask him If he needs help from a mental health point of view.

Blackpool at home

Just home now. I’m usually an optimist but we are a completely useless club from top to bottom. Not sure any player has the right to call themselves a professional footballer- can’t defend, can’t attack, can’t win a second ball, can’t score. Jones is not up to the job and neither are the owners. I thought the crowd could have been far more vocal in showing their displeasure tonight - I think we’ve all sunk into a pit of depression. I’m surprised they don’t play the Benny Hill tune all through the match - it’s made for headless chickens running about. And don’t get me started on the light show.

That’s because it’s not a man’s game any more after this summer 🤣🤣
-
Just back. Had been hoping for a good result as have written off our last home game so was keen to see something to reassure me I was right to renew our season tickets! Stupid me. Why do I always have this forlorn hope that things will improve?

I remember Len when he was a groundsman at the Sports Centre I think. Pretty certain he lived in Malvern Road and I used to see him in the garden sometimes on my way to and from school.

My grainy memory seems to recall midweek sports specials in the 1970’s where either highlights or full matches were shown on tv. I think it was an FA cup replay against Chelsea which we won circa 1975(?). We were buzzing after seeing the match or highlights and decided to expend some energy at Fridays night club. Within hours Channon and possibly Osgood were propping up the bar there being bought pints by all and sundry. Wouldn’t happen now I guess. I loved the Pink too - used to queue up for it from 6 and relive the match on Saturdays in the pub afterwards.
