Is anyone kind enough to summarise the main point from Claude Puels press conference this afternoon, I couldn't face listening to him....

Yep I'm completely underwhelmed by several things. The way the big guns can have a rubbish season then just throw money at it and instantly recover gets my goat and the whole sky rip off just gets more sickening every season. Closer to home I'm fed up with being fed all this champions league kack only to see us sell our prized assets each year and then this year with so much cash available, not even bother to show ambition in the transfer window. I'm convinced we could have kept Koeman by showing a bit of ambition, maybe others to? Last night topped it off seeing Koemans Everton thrash a Sunderland side that we almost lost at home to.....it's all become very dull and boring after showing so much promise in recent seasons. I hate to say it but I'm pretty sure I know how our Europa campaign will go as well.....

Agreed, but I do believe refs are scared of upsetting the big clubs and therefore would rather give the contentious penalty or ignore the small clubs player who was fouled in the build up etc..

Yep me!! I tried to listen to his first interview and gave up, he is boring in the extreme. Now I just wait for someone to summarise. I can see a real possibility that some players would also find him incredibly dull and therefore switch off when he starts waffling and saying "Erm" after every word....not his fault I know but that's how it is.

I think we finished 6th last season because the usual suspects had unusually poor seasons, this has then raised the expectations of many. That said, I do not believe we will finish higher than 10th due mostly to the extra cup competition. I don't believe the club have adequately replaced Wanyama but admit that doing so would be difficult anyway. I'm excited by the signings of Høejberg, Boufal and Redmond but disappointed that we didn't sign a decent target man striker in the mould of Pelle. It concerns me that Austin and Rodriguez will either fall short of expectation through injury or will be used incorrectly by a manager whom is yet to convince me. Im looking forward to the Eurooa campaign but feel it may be our last for a long time.

So, it would appear that our fishy friends are facing a £5000 fine for flaunting EFL Cup rules and fielding an ineligible team v Yeovil.....once a cheat always a cheat.

Thats the point isn't it, he's clearly a very talented footballer, as people with far more football knowledge than you or I will testify. So if he comes here it'll be because he has to prove himself which if it works out will obviously be to our benefit. Its laughable that people on here are frothing with rage about the possibility of us loaning Jay Rodriguez to rivals West Brom yet think the possibility of taking a talented England player from Arsenal who needs game time to prove himself ...?

Jack Wilshere comes to Southampton on loan to get game time and prove his fitness, Arsenal pay his wages, Wilshere plays an absolute blinder to Southampton's obvious benefit.....yeah I can see why people think it's a bad idea

Hello all, decided to sign up having watched this forum for ages. Been a saints fan since 1985, live in Dorset so don't get to as many games as I used to back in the 90s (family man, job etc) but I'm saints to the core. This Boufal looks like a class act, hope we can develop him AND hang onto him for a fair few years although I understand how we roll these days and it has to be said, we do it well. I hope we have a striker lined up to!
