Agree with this. I reckon we'll struggle a lot less for goals this season, especially with a lot of our attacking players getting a full preseason under their belt. I don't think we need lots of squad additions, just one or two good ones here or there. This season might see the revival of Hojbjerg and Clasie along with young players coming through the ranks. Exciting season coming up I reckon!

Weird that Onyekuru has signed but immediately gone on a season long loan, does this happen often?
-
Hope Charlie can put him under his wing a bit and teach him some finishing )) Great news!!

Most likely an addition to our squad, experience playing league football and will help to develop young lads (Stephens, Jones, etc) and develop himself. Might see something out of him, but don't slate after not seeing him play at all. Not a particularly exciting signing, but equally happy to get him in!!

Definitely not, the guy is ripped

I would quite like either the Argentinian Aaron Hotchner or Weinzierl, from what I've read they're both decent man managers, adaptive tactics but also both seem to be a strong figure. Maybe that's what we've been missing to motivate us.

7 big chances missed, 3/15 15 shots on target scored and accuracy of 37%, are you sure Shano can put the ball in the net?

^Though we have 3 games in hand on them, albeit pretty tough ones.

I've been pro-Puel since the start of the season and unfortunately the allure is slipping a little bit. Despite that, I agree with some posters and really reckon that if Puel had the summer to get in who he wanted to get in and got rid of those who weren't interested, we'd be playing much better. It's evident on the pitch who is willing to play for this club (and Puel) and who isn't, players like Romeu, Davis, Cedric, Yoshida put in tons of effort the entire game. Other players with slightly larger egos seem to have dropped in performance this season. If all players gave 100% then fair enough it's down to tactics, but at the minute some are hovering around 60-70%. I feel if players were able to adapt to Puel's style and respect him a bit more, he'd have a lot of success. I'm not going to make excuses because there have been some absolutely awful performances this season and that obviously needs to change one way or another, but I think Puel should be given more of a chance.

In what way? Stek was absolutely garbage for us, afraid of the ball and distribution not great either. Hassen is young so will be good to see, plus he's only on a contract till the end of the year so we'll know if we're keeping him or not.

I really like what Puel's bringing and this season was always going to be a transitional season. A lot of fans want too much too soon. We need to establish some stability in the squad and the manager and the playstyle- something we haven't had in quite a while. Once we have that, one of Puel's best qualities will come into play; he's a player coach and can improve players (yoshida, prowse, romeu etc). This means that we'll have some star players in VVD/Bertrand/Gabby, but we'll have transformed our deadwood players into good squad players. Some of our deadwood players right now (Martina) can't be helped, but others (Hojbjerg etc) can definitely be. The style of play has never been an issue for me because in my eyes he's trying to make us play exciting passing possession football, albeit frustrating when we don't have a cutting edge, but we have the players to give us that spark. Next season will be a special one as long as we keep some of our key players- can see Sims coming in the team more often next season too. Finally, I believe that Puel has a clear ethos, style and way he wants to do things. Some players will be happy with that and adapt (Romeu, Cedric) and others will clash and leave (Fonte, maybe more). I am more than happy for him to continue as our manager.

Find it frustrating that people are blaming the manager for this. We showed today that we were a threat when going forwards on the break, but Man City were the better side, especially midfield and there's no shame in losing to that. Playing 2 at CDM is great, but Tadic isn't the strongest player in the world and will therefore be bossed around by Yaya Toure and Fernandinho so there wasn't much of a link between defense and attack. Overrun in midfield, which led to them being able to use their flair players to their advantage while we couldn't really do much. Puel couldn't have done much to help that apart from using a different formation. So we could only really set up in the way we did against Liverpool (and even Man City away before Dec) and if we got one of our chances in the back of the net it's a different game.

Puel in for me, been a real change that we're starting to go down by a goal and actually have the belief to fight back even without our key players. Truly believe he is the man to take us forward, looking at the style of play, how we've adapted some of our squad fillers into first teamers has been brilliant to see, he really gives everyone a chance. The summer as others have said is crucial, let's shift some dead wood and build a strong squad (and keep VVD) then I'm sure we'll push on, but even if we don't, top 8/9 and success stories like Romeu, Yoshida and Stephens along with some good games and a cup run would be fantastic.

Have loved Tadic but think it's ridiculous that the first time he gets proper competition in his position he starts whinging about being taken off. Honestly, what would he have done in the time he had that he wasn't already trying in the first 70 or so minutes? Boufal not much of a sub as it stands because as others have said he's been a bit out of sorts, but to me it's clear these are both players that need game time, and I don't know who Tadic thinks he is denying Boufal that.
-
Gabbiadini was walking fine after his injury, think it was more precautionary than anything. We finally look a team this season with a bit of fight, our players that decide matches keep getting injured, but we're looking stronger (as Claude loves to say) as a collective. Onwards and upwards

Haven't played at home in just over a month (mental schedule really), but I rate our chances with this one. Past 2 away games (3 if you count Wembley) we've put 4 (3- still bitter) goals in the net. Granted that it was Sunderland and Watford, but they were two physical(ish) teams against our more technical and small team. Same with Man Utd. I honestly don't think we need a lot of bruisers to win games. Our defense needs reinforcing and we all know that but our attack is absolutely on fire. And for those saying drop JWP, is there something wrong with you?? The turn and pass he pulled off to supply Tadic was amazing, and he's been amazing recently. Becoming a much more versatile player and it's great to see him finally flourishing. On the other side of things, Forster has been inexcusably shocking. I say drop him until he shows better signs. Also, I trust Stephens, but reckon Caceres deserves a shot. Hassen Cedric Yosh Caceres Bertrand Romeu Davis Prowsey Tadic Redmond Gabbiadini

We have so many building blocks, 8th this season, now expecting us to push on next season and really challenge the big clubs; we do well in the summer and we've got all the tools to do it.
-
1) Still have Van Dijk 2) Romeu is as good as Wanyama imho 3)Austin and Boufal you mean, no one has ever said Rodriguez was the replacement for Pelle, nor Redmond for Mane. Unfortunately I do have to agree, we've been left bare after the last transfer window (and the summer). No command in the middle of the park anymore. We

Imagine a dual Yoshida Stephens contract announcement.

If we high press like we did for a majority of this game then we'll have no problems. We got caught on a couple of breaks early on from hanging on to possession but I reckon our passing has gotten faster and crisper lately. Liverpool will struggle to deal with it. Nice early goal and we're in control.

Hate when people describe Puel as ''out of his depth''. It's like he's just some random guy Les Reed pulled off the street. He hasn't been doing that well, but as people in the club have said he hasn't had the opportunity to do strategical training sessions, but instead recovery and preparation. He was a fitness coach so knows the limits of his players and delivers sessions according to our big schedule. Maybe over-rotation is due to our many years of playing in few competitions and therefore lacking fitness to maintain players. I don't know. Like others have said, if our strikers had been taking their shots, we'd be in a much better position.

Because our replacement for Pelle is out injured

Absolutely, RIP.
