Not sure why Ziyech gets mentioned so much on here. We have never been strongly linked with him and no longer play with wingers plus already have Tadic and Redmond competing for the role behind the strikers.
-
Henessey and Mandanda not back in training til next week.

We have a predatory goal scorer. Its flair to create the chances that is currently lacking. Redmond has looked promising but he isn't of Mane's level (not many are) and Jay Rod and Austin aren't really going to carve out opportunities for themselves so another attacker would benefit. The rest of our play, especially first half, was good.

In this system the full backs play very high and have an onus to create. So far we havent seen Bertrand or Cedric but that should make a positive difference. Likewise Long and Davis were both excellent last season and haven't yet featured. I agree the chance creation is a bit of an issue, and the forwards splitting wide doesn't suit Austin, whilst Jay still looks short but Tadic and Redmond have looked bright, Hojbjerg excellent and VVD looks superb. I think we need another attacker with the ability to beat a man, but otherwise are fairly well set once the players adapt and we have our best team out.

Yep. Noticeable things worked on and a totally different shape to Koeman played. Will be good to watch our strongest XI in that setup.
-
First half was much better.
-
Bar Reed and Targett none of the young players look PL ready at this stage. A few never will be. Valery and Jones quite possibly given time.
-
Rubbish. Barely any opportunities for the forwards to finish.
-
Weird goal for 2-0. Should have been a foul on keeper by Gallagher.
-
Can't recall the Twente keeper making a save til now.

First and second third play is pretty good. Final third is poor so far.
-
Also sounded like he had never heard of him until this game.
-
Redmond up front with Jay Rod this half it looks like.
-
Quite intricate and emphasis on getting it wide to the full backs high up the pitch which is working well. Energetic pressing too at times. Short on chances for the strikers though which would be my main criticism after all the friendlies. Obviously early days.

Think Austin is often too deep. He isn't the greatest technical player but is a finisher. You want him in the box not behind the play.
-
Tadic enjoying a virtual free role as the player behind the striker. Suits him. Austin struggling to get involved and playing quite wide.
-
Both fullbacks playing very high when we have possession. Willing Jay Rod to get a goal. He still seems short of something though.
-
Hojbjerg looks technically excellent.

Saints have a YT stream.

Back four is Martina, Yoshida, VVD, McQueen

Mad that us and Norwich were in for him last summer and now he is worth about three times the amount.
-
For a wide midfielder his goal return last season was good, especially for one of the non-elite sides. If Redmond gets near what Arnautovic did goal wise last season then he will have had a great season.
-
Stoke could have a tidy attack with Berahino, Bojan, Shaqiri and Arnautovic. Beyond the top 5 or 6 that would probably be the best in the league.

The reliable Di Marzio says Leicester are signing Kapustka - will be interesting to see how he does. http://gianlucadimarzio.com/en/eng/leicester-set-to-acquire-cracovia-winger-kapustka/

Do you think more than a couple of hundred would travel from Colchester to watch a JPT first round game at Crawley on a Tuesday night if the format hadn't changed? There won't be any less people watching than last year because attendances for the early round were ****e.
