I would also argue that the main reason people normally get annoyed, is the hurt and confusion of a much loved player finding another club more attractive.

No you're ok, I'm still awake I do understand that you're anxious for the coming season and to be honest with you, the summer transfer merry go round does my head in aswell .... and I am, by nature, generally pretty calm. I don't share your worries about our squad this season, I think we've done some very smart business and I've got a feeling that yet again, we're going to surprise a lot of people. I know you don't agree but that's fine. The thing is, you can do all the comparisons and analysis between last season/this season squads but there's no way to draw any conclusion from it because we haven't seen enough of the current squad to judge. We're just going to have to wait and see. There's no point in worrying about something that might or might not happen, just enjoy where we're at .... we're playing Inter Milan, who could of imagined that, 6 years ago. In reply to a couple of other points you raised : 1) McCarthy has one full cap for England as of last sunday 2) Been 100% Saints since first seeing them as a youngster in 1968. As to the content, it just seems full of odd comparisons and stats manipulated to fit an agenda, namely to achieve a negative rating in your scoring system. An example for you. When comparing McCarthy and Stekelenberg, you give stats for McCarthy's season prior to joining us. So surely a balanced comparison would be Stekelenberg's record prior to joining us, which would paint a completely different picture to yours. McCarthy vice Stekelenburg McCarthy - prior to joining Saints he made 7 appearances for Palace, failing to keep a clean sheet in any. The season before he that made 5 appearances (4 for QPR, 1 for Reading) whilst also failing to keep a clean sheet. Stekelenberg - prior to joining Saints made 8 appearances for Monaco, only 1 in La Ligue. The season before that he played 21 times before being dropped from a Fulham side that got relegated having conceded 85 goals that season McCarthy's 7 years younger, a current international and has signed a permanent contract as opposed to a loan .... +1 point So obviously McCarthy's a better signing than Stekelenberg was last year....... see what I've done ? Don't think there's really a witch hunt been going on, just the whole 'players leaving' thing is a bit of a sore subject for us SFC fans and we tend to get a bit twitchy on the subject. As someone who was critical about Jose earlier in this thread, I'm delighted to read this instagram message, it's great to hear this from him finally. Time to move on now. Looking forward to seeing the old Jose we know and love, back to his best for the coming season.

There's so many flaws in your argument that I really can't be bothered to pick thru them. Tell you what tho', it's not the system, the manager or the squad that'll jeopardise our season. The biggest threat to our club right now is from the "if it ain't broke blah blah don't like change" brigade and their efforts to stir up mutiny against a very highly respected and forward thinking coach after three friggin' games .... just because he's not hip. What's wrong with you, give him a chance, lets see what he brings to the table. The destabilising effect of any witch hunt to drive him out of the club now would be massive and the fallout would make the system change seem like a minor blip. Hehe, you could well be right there !! Perhaps I was a tad harsh. Personally I don't think he's really looked on his game, particularly the Sunderland one but thinking about it, he's had a pretty full on summer physically and Ibrahimovic and Defoe are tricky customers to deal with. I still like to hear something from him tho' ... anything, if only to tell us how great his euros were and 'bring on the Europa' or something. He's our leader, I want him to engage with us.

His demeanor on the pitch and the deathly silence off it, has certainly soured his relationship with me, somewhat. Maybe Mourhino and Jorge Mendes have been playing games but he's a grown man, our leader and is well aware of us fans hurt over players jumping ship. Not saying he done anything wrong exactly but he's let it get messy. We're owed some stellar performances and a bit of communication from him, to restore the faith.
