  1. They were playing 343 away from home in the Europa league at Inter. ..not parking the bus and kept a clean sheet with a big counter threat. Of course you have to ride your luck a little bit there to win, it was still an impressive win. Home advantage tends to be enormous in Europe, particularly for sides further afield. They won by 2 goals away at Inter, with a clean sheet in Europa and you aren't impressed? Haha. As mentioned they've never lost a competitive home game ever at this ground and won all three home games in Europe this year. As for your team. Think you'll find we'll be playing 4-3-2-1/4-3-3 like the last few games. We certainly won't be "sticking two the 4-4-2", we don't play 4-4-2. Nor do I expect to see 4-2-3-1. Your complacency is remarkable. Especially so considering they are the home team and not us.
  2. Yes, 4-3-2-1 for me (call it 4-3-3 if you want). Certainly not a diamond.
  3. Binoculars are required more there than almost all international cricket grounds
  4. Yes, they haven't lost at home since their new ground opened in September 2015 in a competitive game. They have won all three European fixtures they've had at home since their new stadium opened (and unbeaten in their own league). This season in Europe (At home) 3-2 vs FC Sheriff 1-0 vs Olympiakos 2-0 vs Celtic This season in League 2-1 vs Hapeol Raanana 3-0 vs Bnei Sakhnin Another thing to note is their fixture list. No game until 15th October after the game against us, where as we have the game against Leicester before the international break. So they will be giving everything in the game against us. Not meaning this as doom and gloom at all. The point is we probably need to put out a strong side for us to have a chance to beat them, or get a point.

More interchanging and narrower at the top I'd say. And the players are getting more used to it obviously, perhaps this is how it was meant to be played all along by the players. I'd call it a 4-3-2-1 rather than 4-3-3.
  6. Tough one . Ideally we want to bag another win early on, rather than leaving it late to qualify. We can't take them lightly at all, they beat Inter 2-0 away. Inter are 3rd in Serie A after 6 and unbeaten at home in the league (came 4th last season). We will need a very strong line up to beat Hapoel Beer Sheva, a lot of the teams posted so far I'd expect us to lose with away from home against them For me it's essential we play Forster and the strongest back four bare minimum. Without knowing the condition of the players it's tough to make a proper judgement, but based on the fact this game isn't until Thursday I'd much prefer an unchanged side (same team as West Ham)..with players rested at the weekend instead of for this game. I'd like to see us try to get as far as we can in Europa, and seal qualification from the group early. That means putting our strongest team out and winning this game (or at worst avoiding defeat). I think it's important to look at how they beat Inter too. They didn't just park the bus, they had 15 attempts on goal themselves playing an attacking system (3-4-3 played properly, by no means was it a back five). So if we put out a weakened team they will really take the game to us, and we will struggle with a weakened side and might wilt under the pressure. They were all over Celtic like a rash in the 2nd leg of the UCL qualification. 69% possession and 19 shots to 7. We can't take them lightly, or expect defeat.
  7. Tough decision for me between Van Dijk and Austin. Being at opposition ends of the park I'll have to call it a draw. Austin with a goal and nicely weighted assist, plus good work rate and overall contribution. Van Dijk dominant and determined. Both very good performances. Van Dijk is great on the ball. He's one of the best centre backs in the world on the ball. Great in the air, fast. The only thing he needs to work on is concentration and positioning in defence. He also needs to mature and get less frustrated when his team isn't winning. His tendency to get forward, and risk getting caught out of position, isn't what a top team wants from a centre back. I'd suggest he is good enough to play for Barcelona in terms of ability. I would say he's worth a punt for them as a result and I'm surprised no top team went for him in the summer.
  8. He played all over the place yesterday, the front three interchanged. His assist came from the right striker/forward position. There's no denying he's most effective when he finds himself in central positions, or positions a striker would naturally finds oneself in. The system yesterday is good going forward, so long as Austin is allowed central whenever he wants to be. Ideally the less tracking back he has to do the better. He was more like a left forward yesterday in a 4-3-2-1 , rather than a left wing in a 4-3-3. The problem comes when he becomes more of a left winger in a 4-3-3 and gets stuck there. The front three positioned and interchanged well yesterday.
  9. Redmond was annoyed Tadic didn't pass to him. Davis had a big chance and should have passed to his left (not sure who it was that was open, but they were screaming for the ball and furious. It wasn't Redmond) . Hojbjerg took a shot on when he should have passed to Redmond for a certain goal. And Cedric did something similar. It's human nature, and the right of a player, to get annoyed at someone taking on a shot, and missing (if they themselves were open for a pass and what they perceive as an easy finish). It isn't a rift and they don't hate each other. If the players didn't want to score, and didn't have this competitive edge, then I would be very concerned. It is important that the players learn to have better decision making in the final third. If someone is in a better position to score then they should be passing instead of taking the shot on. It may seem irrelevant in a 3-0, but it's not in the grand scheme of things. They'll be games where we only get one or two big chances, and it's essential we convert them. We were wasteful yesterday and still won 3-0. That shows how good we can potentially be.
  10. He was involved in the first two goals and it effectively killed the game. He's probably my motm
  11. 3-0 and could have been 7 or 8 with more composure . Good performance. All we need to work on is decision making and finishing
  12. Suggest you open your eyes. Easy tap in for him into an empty net
  13. He was on
  14. Terrible effort more like. If he rolls it to Redmond it's a certain goal
  15. Play it to Redmond for a tap in..... What is wrong with our players in the box? No composure at all and too selfish. We could have had 6 today and against Swansea
  16. We are playing great. But we are shooting too often in positions where a pass is on
  17. Not a pen and Moss needs to start booking players for dissent. No chance that was deliberate, he can't make his arms disappear
  18. Pass Davis
  19. Zaza is a cheat. Should have been booked and should be banned for that. Blatant attempt at cheating and conning the ref.
  20. In that system I'd prefer Mane where Davis is, Tadic on the left.
  21. Tadic Lambert Mane Lallana Schneiderlin Davis Shaw VVD Alderweireld Clyne Forster
  22. If Mane wasn't a good finisher in your opinion then I'd like to hear you describe Redmond's finishing.
  23. Austin, Long, Redmond and Tadic are all good attackers (and Rodriguez). Play them anywhere in the attack and they can be effective.. It's a question of getting the most out of them by playing them in the position/role they are more effective in..
  24. What? He was tracking the right back, not Barrow...christ..
  25. Swansea changed system to 4-4-1-1 when they brought Montero on for Ki. Not sure exactly what to call their system in the last 10 when Baston came on for Cork
