Palace sold a right back who gets a nosebleed whenever he crosses the halfway line for £50m. Newcastle bought Joelinton for £40m. JWP is a key player, in his prime and has 4 years left on his contract, a £40m bid wouldn't even earn a response.

A lot of money? I would say that it is nowhere near enough. The market was never going to be deflated for Premier League clubs, matchday is the most affected revenue stream and it accounts for a small % of Premier League clubs' overall revenue. It will be deflated in other countries and the Championship, where TV revenue is less and matchday is relatively more important.

And Mbappe is on my shortlist. Their owners may be wealthy, but not so wealthy that they will drop the £60m required. Their biggest buys are all in the £30m range and in that same Athletic article it says they made a £25m bid for Smith-Rowe. If he is on their shortlist, they are severely underestimating how much it would cost.

He has a year left on his contract and is playing for a Championship club. They can ask for £25m all they want, they aren't getting it.

Have a look on their forum, their JWP thread is almost 50 pages long! Those deluded fuckwits have whipped themselves into a frenzy over a single piece of transfer speculation bollocks from a few days ago, they are almost as deranged as the dugout pioneers with their list of firsts. The bloke with the RNZAF avatar seems to be the only sane one there.

Assumptions being Vestergaard, Gunn go along with either Forster or McCarthy and Ings stays. Didn't include fringe or unwanted players Long, Obafemi, Smallbone, Valery, Vokins, Nlundulu, Lewis, Hoedt, Elyounoussi and Lemina. Having 2 players per position doesn't necessarily mean having 22 players as long as some players can cover more than 1 position to a good standard. So I would say the bare minimum needed is 5 new players. Starting GK, LB and AM (the AM should ideally be someone who can be relied upon to take the goalscoring burden off Ings) along with a couple of versatile players for depth at the back and 6.

Who writes this crap? Diallo didn't need a work permit and the rules have changed so the Sangaré issue is irrelevent. Ironically, we probably would have been able to get a work permit for Sangaré this year with the new rules.
-
My info (MLG via Football Manager) says Forster is on 70k and McCarthy 50k. Quite a big difference.

The purchase was terrible business, the sale is great business. Sunk cost fallacy etc etc... Also Forster and McCarthy are in the last year of their contracts, McCarthy in particular should attract some interest as his wages are lower. Even if we have to give one of them away for free we should be able to so.

Excellent, having just one former Brest player was bothering me. Now we have a proper pair.

Because the point of the loan was precisely so that we wouldn't find ourselves in a situation where we would be forced to sell players to cover any cash shortfalls and be able to invest in the squad as normal. And it is only due to be paid in 2025. I swear some people seem to think the debt was created but the money received went into a black hole instead of the club's bank account.

I was surprised too, but that's because until I read that I thought he would cost more so that price tag makes the link more believable for me, Ralph said our signings would be around £10m (not max £10m), I would consider €15m to meet that criteria. The way I see it goalkeeper and left back should be our 2 top priorities, Dragowski and Perraud would be a good start to the Summer.

Polish League goalkeeper of the season in 2014-15 (6 years ago!). 152 appearances in the Ekstraklasa and Serie A since making his professional debut 7 years ago. Older than Donnarumma and Dortmund's new first choice goalkeeper Gregor Kobel. Experienced enough for me. Can we take advantage of these "good relations with the Finistère leaders" and take Romain Faivre too?
-
I'm going to keep banging the drum for this guy. 24 years old, Turkish league top scorer, Hatayspor only want about £9m.

West Ham don't pay that much more than us.

I know right? You would think there was a Catalan who came through Barcelona's academy in our squad. Ridiculous!

Goal involvement isn't defined but I assume it's xG + xA? If so then that would only provide a partial picture of attacking contribution, namely the shot and the final pass, disregarding everything else that is going on and went on during the build up (Werner's role in Chelsea's goal yesterday being an obvious example). We rely of the fullbacks to provide width, without it opponents can be more narrow when defending and give us less room down the middle. I suspect KWP's attacking contribution isn't fully picked up by these stats. Also have to disagree somewhat to your conclusion on Diallo. His tackle % of 80.6 is very good, much better than Romeu's 62%, as is his passing and it is a role where experience is particularly important. This having been his first season here (and second season of first team football overall) I think there is plenty to be optimistic about. How do his numbers compare to defensive midfielders at other clubs? And what is recoveries? Adding up tackles, interceptions and aerial duels doesn't match so must be something else. Anyway... top work! Nominee for post of the year. Puts into numbers a lot of what we already knew to be true... our goalkeepers are awful, Stephens is awful, KWP is the only good fullback we have, attacking midfielders can collectively be described as meh and Ings is the only player than can be relied upon to stick the ball in the net.

Former Saint news... FIFA really are loosening eligibility requirements these days.

You mean the people her father brought in to run the club? All she did was keep them in place for a few years before ripping everything apart and bringing in the clown car. Our success was thanks to Markus, Cortese and Mitchell, our decline thanks to her and her incompetent minions.
-
We already did that when we got rid of Hughes, Les, Wilson and the insufferable gobshite hockey coach. But undoing the enormous damage they caused off the pitch will still take time, look at our goalkeepers for example, none of them are of the required standard and yet all three have been here longer than Ralph. For all the shite Gao gets, I think if the obese heiress hadn't sold we would have kept the clowns she put in place and been relegated by now.

Deserves a repost, outdid themselves today after being handed a lifeline by Villa.

He said one of the fullbacks would be someone who can also cover CM, so three actually seems quite likely.
