You can sign 2 but have to release 4 - Who goes?
Cartman replied to Sidney Fudpucker the 3rd's topic in The Saints
Out: Forster Gardos Targett Long In: GK Midfielder with 3 lungs If you were to extend it to 5 out and 3 in then Clasie out and another trio of lungs in. -
No, it's not like that at all. More like this... Manager: We are weak at a, b & c and need players that can do x, y & z. Les: What he said. Black Box: ***Processing, Processing*** Here you go (presents shortlist). Les: Arrange this lot in your order of preference. Manager: Done. Les: ***Negotiates stuff agents and other clubs*** Players signed.

How would you feel if no one left but we didn't sign anyone else?
Cartman replied to Bad Wolf's topic in The Saints
You know our goalkeepers don't have to be english or signed from english clubs right? And so what if Forster is homegrown, we have more than enough. He's crap and we need better. -

I keep seeing this all the time, since when does height=strength? And anyway, why is height important other than at CB and GK? Our midfield could use a Kanté like player more than anything and the guy is tiny. More than pace & power (could that be any more stereotypically english?), we need stamina and agility (besides the obvious technical aspects required of a midfielder). -
Can we find a reason to ban all the teams from London and Manchester too? Will be fun!*****il other teams find a reason to ban us)

It's not just unreasonable, it's delusional. Even the likes of Modric and Kroos don't score that many. 5-7 is more reasonable, but this is besides the point. Look at clubs like Spurs or Chelsea or other clubs at the top across europe, you will see a group of about 4 players who score the huge majority of the goals, the 3 first choice forwards and the main backup forward. Compare their numbers to that of our forwards and you will see where the problem is.
-
You are out of your mind. 12-15? Only the likes of Bayern and Madrid's midfielders get those sorts of numbers. People seriously need to drop this "goals from midfield" nonsense. For Spurs only their 3 starting forwards Kane, Alli and Eriksen, first choice backup forward Son and Wanyama scored more than 2 goals in the league and europa combined. Our forwards don't score enough, Tadic with 2 from open play is embarassing, Long is hopeless, Boufal was unfit. It's not on the likes of Davis, Ward-Prowse (who would have been Spurs 5th highest goalscorer with 4), Romeu, Hojbjerg or Clasie to make up for the forwards' incompetence.

Consider year 1 to be 2010-11 https://www.readytogo.net/smb/threads/the-nature-of-venture-capitalists.1373013/ I'm bored today so let me start a meltdown based on absolutely nothing. I'm a firestarter, twisted firestarter, hey, hey, hey!

He just reverted back to his normal self after a 6 month purple patch in Mané's slipstream. He's pretty crap.

Absofu**inglutely not! Last thing I want is some lumbering lamp post up front "holding up play" or some such sh!t. Gabbi up front with fast, technical players on either side please.

The season before last was our best ever points finish... a whole 3 points more than the season before. And Everton performed well below par... more or less where they finished the season before. Yep, last season was definitely a reversion to the norm. Why would Everton be expected to finish above Saints, all things being equal? The last 50 0r 60 years are irrelevant, the last 5 years matter far more. Both clubs' annual turnover are almost identical. Today, in 2017, they are in fact the most similar club to us along with Leicester. They are not the Everton of the 80s, they are not even the Everton of the 90s or 00s, they aren't anywhere near Spurs in financial power, there is the big 6 and the rest and Everton are firmly among the rest. History means nothing.

Doesn't mean much. Fonte also handed one in last summer when Man Utd were in for him and he went nowhere. He forfeits his loyalty:lol:bonuses but in no way does it guarantee a move.

Klaassen, Sigurdsson, Rooney, Giroud... just how slow an attack are they trying to build? And if they don't pull off Giroud who will score goals? Lukaku, Barkley and Coleman were their highest scorers, they can't possibly be relying on Rooney can they? They look very weak at full back too with Coleman injured and Baines past it. Pickford looked good in a team that conceded a lot of shots, keepers have looked better than what they really are in such circumstances. Same goes for Keane who looked good in a defensive team, so did Gibson for Boro until they sacked Karanka and opened up, then he looked out of his depth. Even Ajax fans don't rate Klaassen that highly, saying his technical ability is a bit mediocre, sure he runs around a lot and scored quite a few goals from midfield in the dutch league, but then Tadic scored 16 league goals the season before he joined us. Sandro massively overperformed last season scoring 14 goals with an expected goals total of 7, although at that price it's a good signing he's not likely to give them what Lukaku did. And the less said about Rooney the better. So even though they have already spent more than they are getting for Lukaku, their squad is still quite flawed. It's looking more and more like another Bale and Suárez like quantity over quality situation.

Think Liverpool are genuinely keeping their heads down, certainly from what their pet journos have said they won't do anything unless given some indication from us that we are willing to sell. This to me seems like something planted by Wasserman (Steve Bates isn't one of Liverpool's pets) as a sort of "please come back" plea, as right now Virgil has gone from having three clubs interested to none.

Yoshida does have just 1 year left on his contract and we are yet to hear anything about a new one, so it's not exactly an outlandish suggestion. While most of us are perfectly fine with Stephens or Yoshida partnering Van Dijk, we aren't too keen on the two of them together. I see both as 1st choice backup quality, so Stephens should be replacing Yoshida, Bednarek replacing Stephens as 2nd backup with a Fonte replacement still to come. And does the club really see Stephens as a long term starter? Bit of an assumption to make, they could see him as a long term 1st choice backup at CB and DM.

I'll believe it when I see it. Nothing has come of it yet. And where on earth did you get 241m if by your links their 16-17 buys come in at 67.6m? And you really believe they haven't factored in the Lukaku sale into their spending? This is the kind of thing I'm talking about. Which other club gets their bluster and BS so easily accepted by everyone?
-
What does "bigger" mean anyway? If it's historically more successful then yes they are, not that it makes a club in anyway more attractive to players. If it mean richer then no they are not, both clubs annual revenues are almost identical. They took out a 60m loan to fund their purchases, along with the 75m they seem to be getting for Lukaku. This notion that they are some sort of sleeping giant or that they are somehow far more than what they are is bizarre, must be some nostalgic acid trip because they are and have been an also ran for the past 30 years.

Too similar to Romeu, we need a Schneiderlin. Or in Sporting terms, we need an Adrien Silva (but younger, Adrien is already 28) not William Carvalho.

Yet to see a report that isn't from the Sun or doesn't use the Sun as a source.

Wanted him before we signed Bednarek, going to be the absolute nuts. Worth baring in mind that Yoshi has only 1 year left and there is no sign of a new contract. Best part about it (apart from getting a potential superstar CB of course) is that it would be the ultimate troll on Liverpool, getting rid of all the CBs we had 1 year ago except the one they want.

Not remotely good enough for us. Why are so many of the suggestions on here domestic based players? I know that it's what people watch but surely most of you know that we will mostly be buying abroad, it's what we have done since promotion and will do even more now that the tv deal has hugely inflated domestic transfer fees.
-
That's news to me. Care to say where he is going? The NPC might have more burly target men, don't see why Terry would struggle against those. It is a much slower league though, not just the players but in how quickly the ball is moved. It will suit him better now that his legs have gone at this level. No way is he good enough for us, in fact he hasn't been for a couple of years.

Yes, Long and Austin aren't good enough, I'd happily sell both. Expect Defrel would play on the right side of the attack, that was a problem for us last season so much so that we changed formation to accommodate the fact that no one played well there, getting rid of the role entirely by putting Ward-Prowse at right midfield and Tadic at 10. Gabbiadini, Defrel and Gallagher would be enough for the centre forward position, Batshuayi was the backup CF for Chelsea and he hardly played even when Costa was unavailable, Hazard moved to the middle instead. Four centre forwards would leave one and maybe even 2 players not getting a look in at all.
