  1. Because we don't have the midfield to play a four man defense, there is no one that can provide adequate protection to the defense the way Wanyama did. Out of Bednarek, Vestergaard and Romeu, the latter is for me quite clearly the weakest link.
  2. Who, apart from City, isn't operating under such a constraint? Wolves, maybe. Everton spent Lukaku and Stones money along with a Chinese bank loan. Leicester haven't been funded by their owners since their first season back, same with Brighton. As far as I'm aware the vast majority of clubs in this league spend what they earn. Is the £150m we get a year not enough? I'm fine with him not putting his money in as long as he doesn't take any out, and there is nothing in that article that suggests he will. Sure, it would be good to have more money, but we would be better off not wasting the money we do have the way we have done in the last few years.
  3. McQueen in for Targett and Clasie in for Boufal. Amazing how much dross we have.
  4. Only way we will fill the 25 spots is if we are unable to get rid of everyone we want to let go of. Ralph wants far fewer players than 25.
  5. How many games did it take to determine that Mané was a League 1 standard player?
  6. Figured I'd bump this old post... looks like it might be of interest to us. And here are the highlights.
  7. No, it has been scientifically proven for quite some time now that the earth is an oblate spheroid. Any information regarding how much money we have or don't have, however, has never been anything more than speculation. We might have plenty of money to spend, or maybe we consider Dragowski an upgrade on what we have and can buy him cheaper than what we sell Gunn and McCarthy for. Point is, I don't know and neither do you.
  8. Perhaps the money isn't tight?
  9. Of the players that played, I think Upamecano is the most likely target. He hasn't been out of favour as much as Augustin, but he is another who hasn't played as much as he did under Ralph and is behind Orban and Konaté in the pecking order.
  10. Because a league where Billy Sharp is one of the top scorers is clearly a cut above the sort of leagues we got Mané and Van Dijk from And Boufal and Carrillo came from France. Same clubs from where Chelsea got Hazard and City got Bernardo Silva in fact, but yeah, lets ignore these clubs and limit our search to a league where Dwight Gayle, Jay Rodriguez, Danny Graham, Lewis Grabban and David McGoldrick all scored at least 15 goals each.
  11. Really? A loose canon for riding one of those electric scooter type things on the road? Absolute non story, so footballers aren't allowed to get small fines for minor traffic violations anymore?
  12. He worked much better with Mané than Pellè ever did.
  13. Moving away from Lambert/Pelle type strikers is why we finished 6th in 2016. Pelle got injured, Long replaced him and we ended up with the 2nd best record 2nd half of 2015/16. A one paced lump upfront is the last thing I want, if our defenders punt aimless long balls forward I would rather replace them.

  15. No thanks. Too slow.
  16. No respect whatsoever from me. That should be us in the final, not those two parasites.
  17. Haven't missed a Champions League final in years. Not watching this one, fück this.

    Gao

Does it really matter as long as the shots are good? Since Gao took over, Les has been sacked and whoever is calling the shots hired Ralph, so far so good. This summer's transfer activity is the acid test to know where we are really going, so we wait and see.
  19. Might be less than 10 if you exclude the players who have been out on loan.
  20. You know how some posters have suggested we sign Yussuf Poulsen (not happening, unlike Augustin Leipzig actually play him)? And you know how we would like to get rid of Carrillo but don't know who would take him, other than our old friend Pellegrino, but Leganés might not have the money? Well, as luck would have it Leganés have a player who is very similar to Poulsen (height, athleticism, work rate, even the same first name!), is younger and has been their best player. Carrillo + cash? https://www.whoscored.com/Players/323547/Show/Youssef-En-Nesyri
  21. Damn it, image didn't show up. Try again.
  22. Expect maybe something like this (green are slots for new signings, yellow loans, red permanent exits). Took the list off wikipedia (and added Klarer). A few explanations: Think we will continue with 3-4-3. Many of our players (almost all our defenders and central midfielders) play better when we go with 3 CBs. I have kept McCarthy though I would be surprised if a new promoted club offered him their number 1 spot. We won't stand in is way but that doesn't mean Forster stays as number 2, we will get someone else in. Just because Ings' move isn't being made officially permanent until this summer doesn't mean we can't sell him. We can. McQueen expect will be sent on loan, would have been permanent if not for his injury. Romeu lacks mobility. Not so much a problem for a CB like Vestergaard but a bit more of an issue for a midfielder in a Hasenhüttl team. Reed performed much better than Sims did on loan yet Sims was able to force his way into the squad, no reason why Reed can't do so too in preseason. Armstrong and Boufal were fighting over a single place in the squad. Today sealed it, what an utterly pointless player. Don't think the other outs require much of an explanation.
  23. We will. Have you seen how many players we have under contract? We will give them away on free transfers and pay part of their salary if we have to, but one way or another we are getting rid of more than a dozen players.
  24. Cool trick. Do it again!
  25. I think the one thing we can be certain of is that far, far more will be going out than coming in. The number of players we have under contract is ridiculous.
