Danny Ings might enjoy the company in the treatment room.

I believe Arsenal said something similar this week along the lines of “we don’t have any money for incoming transfers in this window.”

Manolo Gabbiadini: Joins Sampdoria - Official
Saint Albert replied to Portugalsaint's topic in The Saints
Gabbiadini’s certainly better at scoring goals than Long (not a hard thing to achieve) and Austin. He’s more mobile than Austin as well (again no great achievement) so I’m not sure how Gabbiadini failed to fit in under Hasenhüttl while Austin remains. Perhaps it was simply a matter of resale value. Ultimately, of the four managers that he played under, only Puel gave him a decent run in the side, and his injury against Spurs that season did not help. I’ll always be grateful for his goal against Swansea. -
Hasenhüttl doesn’t seem to rate Gabbiadini. Plus, if the club needs to sell to buy, Gabbiadini’s easier to shift than Long and Austin. That being said, an obligation to pay a transfer fee in the summer doesn’t seem to help us pay for incomings in this window, except for reducing the wage bill.

This may have been rhetorical, but I’ll answer anyway: only one.

Good luck Steven Davis. Always comes across as a player of the highest character.

2-0 full time. Stoke had some good pressure at the beginning of the second half, but Saints recovered nicely. Correction on previous post: a lovely cross-field pass by Clarer set up Ferry’s goal.
-
He’s only been on for 10-15 minutes so not a lot of time to make a big impression. He very calmly slotted in the goal when played in alone to the keeper’s left by (I think) Smallbone.
-
Very pacey player by the looks of it.
-
Nice finishing by the sub Will Ferry to make it 2-0.
-
Tella makes it 1-0.
-
No score at the half.

“When something like this happens we have to forget the top six and wins against them. We did so well in previous matches against them but we have to improve and when we play them again we have to be able to compete, nothing more." Fighting talk from M Silva after today’s game, as the sleeping giant club that is Everton continues to work on smashing the glass ceiling.

Beating Arsenal was pretty good. It’s been a while since we beat a top 6 team.

Back in 2016, he talked about the press conjecture that had him as Wenger’s potential successor... “I have certainly heard of far worse fates than to be lined up as the successor to the longest-serving coach in England... ...I am not interested in such rumours. We don't need to think much about it. I've found my luck here in Leipzig." https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11670/10680517/rb-leipzig-boss-ralph-hasenhuttl-hints-at-contact-with-arsenal

If we have to sell players in order to fund player purchases, and if Gunn is good as many think he is, then I can see the club cashing in on McCarthy and making Gunn the number one, but surely there are other priorities in the club besides another back up keeper, especially if we can’t get rid of Forster.

Saints 3 - Arsenal 2 - I should start threads more often
Saint Albert replied to Secret Site Agent's topic in The Saints
Bednarek was excellent I thought. He made a vital goal-saving tackle on Aubamayang in the first half, prevented a tap-in. I’m so happy we”ve finally won at home, and against a top 6 team. Bring it on Hasenhüttl. -
A Romeu firing on all cylinders again will come in very handy protecting the back 4 against a team like Arsenal.

Linked in Express in the German press... “Mönchengladbach - No sooner has Ralph Hasenhüttl been hired on the English island as a new coach at the Premier League club FC Southampton, already the 51-year-old has submitted to his new bosses a wish list with players who are to help the league in the league. In the winter break, the "Saints" want to attack again in the transfer market, the troubled club has crashed to the third last place in the table. EXPRESS learns: Southampton has also extended the feelers to Gladbach for a squad update. Specifically: Ur-Borussia Patrick Herrmann should be on the shopping list of new coach Ralph Hasenhüttl. Saints need more speed and power Apparently, Southampton, which could only win a league game, will buy more speed and punch for the offensive wing. Herrmann (market value EUR 4.5 million) would be a "snapper" in the winter sale, after all, the contract of the 27-year-old at VfL expires at the end of June 2019. Not only is the contract coming to an end, "Flaco" is currently also on the siding And: "Flaco" currently plays in the plans of foal coach Dieter Hecking (54) is not a major role, counted in recent weeks not even to Borussia squad. He says, "Of course, I'm thinking about how it will continue in winter. If you do not even count to the squad, then it will be difficult. " Patrick Herrmann delivered a gala performance test against Southampton Is "Flaco" Hasenhüttl's "Herrminator"? In Southampton they know Patrick very well. In August, Borussia beat the Saints 3-0 in a test in their stadium - Herrmann contributed a brace. With Jannik Vestergaard (26), whom Southampton had bought from Gladbach for € 25m last summer, Herrmann would meet an old friend in England. Also relegation candidate Stuttgart should be interested However, not only the English are keen on "Flaco". Another interested party is even playing in the Borussia Park on Sunday with the troubled VfB Stuttgart. The Swabians are also in the sights of Herrmann. Also the VfL Wolfsburg should have interest in Herrmann. The car club dredged around before the season to Patrick, but decided to stay on the Lower Rhine. Currently, however, the signs that Herrmann in the winter after over ten years in the foal stable "Tschö, Borussia" in the winter! says.” https://www.express.de/sport/fussball/borussia-moenchengladbach/england-ruft-holt-ex-leipzig-coach-gladbachs-bankdruecker-in-die-premier-league--31709778

In the below article, the writer seems to think that both TSN and SN have lost the rights to broadcast PL games next season in Canada, to the online sports subscription service DAZN. It’ll be a bit of an end of an era, particularly for SN, which pioneered the broadcasting of live PL games in the late 1990’s after the gloomy days of being stuck with the odd highlights one week after the fact on TSN’s Soccer Saturday... https://theprovince.com/sports/soccer/international-soccer/tsn-and-sportsnet-losing-english-premier-league-canadian-broadcast-rights

Jannik Vestergaard - Official: Signs for Leicester
Saint Albert replied to ChiefScummer's topic in The Saints
I thought that Bednarek was the least ****ty of a ****ty collection of Saints defenders on Saturday. They all dropped clangars at some point against Cardiff. I’d certainly like to see Bednarek get a run of starts. Can’t for the life of me think who’s good enough to start in the other CB position. Stephens perhaps? -
I’m starting to see why some of our supporters hate the players. The problem for the players this time is their abject, ****ty performances mean they’re not really working from a position of power.
