Valery! What. A. Goal!
-
Yes. Smalling grabbed a handful of shirt. No. The defender was playing for Manchester United at Old Trafford.
-
Valery’s doing well IMO. I’m enjoying watching him develop and improve especially as he’s an academy player. I actually think he’s starting to link up well with the attacking players in the final third. He looked decent against Fulham. Hopefully he stays fit...not much cover at RB.

A Brighton victory against Huddersfield would leave them 5 points clear of Cardiff, who would still occupy the last relegation spot if both they and Saints lose this weekend.
-
Good of them to wait until after the Saints game to do it. They’ve been on a terrible run, looked especially poor against us and their supporters sounded like they were at the end of their tether with him.
-
Yes please.

I’m just about with you on this. Not losing to Fulham will be huge. And there we are, 1-4 to Palace.

Here’s a whole thread about it... https://www.foxestalk.co.uk/topic/118495-going-down/

Chants of “you don’t know what you’re doing” ringing out from the home supporters after Puel’s latest substitution (Iheanacho for Tilemans, whom the commentators had just described as looking like he’s tired right before Puel took him off) Leicester are a little unlucky to be down by a goal.

Looks like it's time for the "relegation price 2019" thread.

The Gao takeover looked worryingly bad at the time and is looking worse as time progresses. Next level my arse.

First loss of 2019 and we’re suddenly doomed.

Interesting to see Burnley get away with a couple of handball penalty decisions in their game against Brighton. I’m a little torn watching this game. Yes we’re back into the relegation zone but Brighton getting dragged into the thick stuff is OK.

If Cardiff fail to pay, they may face a points deduction... https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2019/02/07/cardiff-city-may-face-points-deduction-fail-pay-nantes-missing/

At the time of the deal someone in the online Italian press (Tuttomercato again I think, so not 100% reliable) said that Inter had no intention of signing Cedric permanently and were using him as a stop gap prior to signing Napoli’s Hysaj as their permanent RB, in the summer.

Following yesterday’s loss to City, here’s a “where has it all gone wrong” article by the Beeb on the mighty Everton... https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/47152237 “Everton might as well have piled up some of the cash spent on big deals in the middle of Goodison Park and set it ablaze for all the good it has done them. Indeed, Everton can be held up as a shining example of how not to operate in the market...” I’m sure some will find some parallels with the latter portion of the Les Reed era.

Same for me. One of the few players to acquit himself well under Hughes this season, but has flourished since Hasenhüttl came on board.
-
Not what I’m saying at all. Stephens’ body position as he contacted the ball with his head, was altered from the usual or textbook position because a canny, experienced player was pulling his shirt from behind and knocking him off balance as they both leaped for the ball. With both his feet off the ground, it would not be extremely hard for anyone to twist Stephens out of position and upset his balance, let alone an experienced 6’8 forward who once scored a goal for England at the World Cup while using a Trinidad and Tobago defender’s ponytail like a playground climbing rope. This was why Stephens was in such a strange position with his arm up as he headed the ball.
-
Without being pulled down by Crouch, Stephens would have cleared the ball with his header rather than heading it against his arm as he lost his balance, and Crouch’s foul preceded the handball in any event. Free kick to Saints was the appropriate call but the referee was probably unsighted. Still, a decent result given that Burnley have been on a bit of a run.
-
Should never have been a penalty unfortunately. Clever of Crouch to tug where the ref couldn’t see, but it was still pretty obvious Stephens was being fouled from the awkward way that he addressed the ball.
-
It was a bad decision. His arms were out for balance as he jumped for a cross, and it was very much ball to hand.
