I would like to see Chaplow centre midfield as he has the energy and ability to get forward and cause problems in the final third which our current lot do not seem to do very often. It would add a different dimension if he is on his game which he is due.

Having just got back to Devon and had chance to calm down i am of the opinion that we lost this game due to how ineffective our centre midfield was. Allan ran the game for them playing positive forward passes at every opportunity while cork only ever seemed to pass sideways or backwards, when he did it was only ever a silly flick. Hammond also seems incapable of playing in the last third and they really were just chasing Allan all over the place. We did have a few chances which their keeper did well but all in all we need to improve although i am doubtful if we now have the capability to raise our game to what is required. Its alright saying we are top of the league but we have not beem playing well recently and something has to change on Monday or have we just now been found out. I will still be making another six hour round trip on Friday in the hope that we really can get it together.

The problem is we are all used to supporting Southampton, we are not used to being in a situation like this apart from last season. I was at that game and there were a lot more than 300 probably around 1500 i would guess.

Our away support in the 80s was pretty poor at times. i remember going to many a game and there would be no more than a couple of hundred at best. It could be paper ******** but he is attracting attention from a few premier league clubs so i dont see what harm it would do for him to train with us and see what happens. The trouble with this place is that too many people right off anyone who hasnt done it at a previous club and very often they have to eat a bit of humble pie.
