I'd imagine Ted Bates and Alan Ball aren't in there because they're dead. I think these lists are used for pre match messages that say something like "Saints Legend Gordon Strachan thinks Saints will struggle when they meet Liverpool next week at St. Marys" for example... it would be a little odd to include dead people in the likes of that.

If you read the rest of my posts you'll see most of my arguments agree with the only fact that NO ONE KNOWS WHAT HAPPENED.... What I said about Clarkson and Browne didn't say that I believe this rumour... I don't believe it. I'm just pointing out that its a stupid comparison

There is a world of difference between someone making a comment about another person on a television recording when the subject of their comment is no where near them, and may never even hear what was said, and going off in someone's face, screaming abus and vitriol directly at them and thinking they won't react.

So the level of the players ability dictates the situtation now? If he's a good enough player he can do what he wants and fans are wrong to approach him with any disdain? But if he's a poor player playing in a poor team fans have the right to abuse him if his actions aren't pure and wholesome? bull**** Either players can live their lives normally without fear of being approached and abused by fans, or they can't.... it has to be the same rule for all of them

Fair enough... my point is that hurling abuse at him isn't going to improve him or the situation in general is it? Again I'll say, its not his fault he's being picked every week, he's not going to say "Actually boss, I'll sit this one out" when he's named in the starting line up

So Footballers should spend their money on rainbows and lollipops and dreams? They're young men, with the same interests as every other young man...they can just afford more of those interests and in a more lavish manner. I have to seriously wonder about people who verbally abuse a group of guys they see out drinking, no matter who they are, and still think they're right in the aftermath. If Saints Ladies team were doing so badly and seen out on the ****, would it have been acceptable for male fans of their team to do the same thing? I know they don't make the same money, but that's not your point above, your point is one of community

Can I ask why it would wind you up Stanley? These guys, irrespective of their job, earn good money. They can afford to do things like this, and they do it. If anyone else in any other job earning the same money did the same thing, people wouldn't bat an eyelid at it. The fact that the money had come from the club that we spend money on is irrelevant. No offence intended, but this seems like a "chip on the shoulder" attitude. "I don't have that kind of money to do the things they do, so how dare they do it, especially in front of me" Draganov's tongue in cheek comment pointed out exactly what's wrong with this attitude.

All you need to look at is the reaction to Lallana allegedly crying when abuse was hurled at him (which I think is bull****, but that's neither here nor there). He's a kid for **** sake, and what's the majority of the reaction? To get him out of the club because we want "real men pulling on the jersey" as i read one person say. Yeah... That's getting behind the players. FFS, this kid was the dog's ******** at the end of last season, overhyped at the start of this to the point that everyone was worried about him being sold in January and now one unsubstantiated claim of him shedding a few tears in public and this is the reaction? No Hypo, the vast majority of people on here show more vitriol than support towards our players

Even that being the case. What good will throwing abuse at him do? He's not picking the team, someone picks him every week. He's not going to say "I'm not playing boss, I'm not good enough", He's going to go out there and try his best.

oh yeah, it most likely means that. Our manager making a statement more than likely must mean the exact opposite because you think he's being kept out of a loop. You realise that makes no sense at all right? I mean in no way whatsoever? No one can win. If JP came out and said our players are leaving it means our players must be leaving, but when he comes and says they're not leaving, it means they must be leaving and he just doesn't know about it. He's in the know about the goings on in the club when it suits some people, and not in the know when it doesn't suit them

As mentioned above, the smoking area had to be in an open area. The whole reason for the smoking ban is that you can't force your employees to work in a smoke filled area, therefore you can't have a 'smoking area' inside the stadium or anywhere else, as someone would have to clean up. So the only solution is to have it outside, which as mentioned above is completely unworkable at the moment.
