  1. The history part of that was interesting, the ending a little repetitive. Anyone who isn't interested in the existence of the club no matter who is in charge just isn't interested in the club. I wanted them all gone, but not at the expense of the club altogether.
  2. Hm, let me see, football team with Woopert in charge or no football team at all? Rupert every time, thanks. Althought he's near the bottom of a very long list of people I'd want to save Saints, I'm not interested in the politics, I'm interested in the football.
  3. Can we have an update ? By my reckoning these are the appropriate changes as of July 1st with contracts having expired and no-one having taken over the club to offer new deals... 1. Kelvin Davis - Contract expired, having a medical at West Ham 5. Jan Paul Saeijs - Loan has ended. 6. Michael Svensson - Announced his retirement from playing on June 25th. 7. Rudi Skacel - Out of contract. Released on May 6th 8. Bradley Wright-Phillips - Out of contract. 11. Andrew Surman - Wolves rumoured to have agreed £1.5m deal 13. Bart Bialkowski - On loan at Ipswich. Unsure of contract details 14. Stern John - Out of contract. 15. Jason Euell - Out of contract. 16. Romain Gasmi - Confirmed his loan will not be made permanent. Returns to France 17. David McGoldrick - Joined Forest for a "seven figure sum" on June 29th. 18. Nathan Dyer - Joined Swansea on a permanent deal for £400k. 2nd June. 21. Jamie Hatch - Out of contract. Released on May 6th 27. Kyle Davies - Has joined Real Salt Lake. Compensation likely due to age. 29. Jeffrey Imudia - Out of contract. Released on May 6th 33. Joseph Mills - out of contract, has apparently been offered a 2 year deal. 39. Ryan Smith - Out of contract. Released on May 6th 41. Zoltan Liptak - Loan terminated early, before the Forest game. 43. Lee Molyneux - rumoured to be on trial at NEC Breda

    Afc southampton?

To be fair they've reorganised non-League since AFC Wimbledon started, so its not really a fair comparison - Newport (County) AFC also re-started in the Hellenic League in 1989/90, step 5, but have only needed 2 promotions to get to step 2 for similar reasons. The one thing in our favour is that non-League clubs LOVE teams with big away followings, even if they do tend to mean a few admin headaches.
  5. Merthyr ?!?!!?? Population 30,000.
  6. The population of St Davids is 1,797 (2001 census). I was interested to discover that it wasn't actually a City from the 18th century until 1994, despite endless quiz questions in the 1980s arguing to the contrary.
  7. Funnily enough one of my housemates from uni's dad used to run the Wells City FC team - their ground was the equivalent to a run-down version of Romsey's ground (and about 30 yards from his house).
  8. Here's a clue : http://www.guildfordcityfc.co.uk/ And here's the thing about how you become a city. Nothing to do with Cathedrals, all to do with "letters patent". My home "town" became a City in 2002... http://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/City_status_in_the_United_Kingdom

    Afc southampton?

I've been saying we're too late for non-League for about 6 weeks, becasue we have been - most of the structures were finalised in May, even including all of the teams dropping out, going bankrupt etc. It's also the reason why "Blue Square Fixtures published" is on the Calendar sticky - and those fixtures are out tomorrow (it allows them to work around the League fixtures for the matches where policing is required and to avoid big matches).

    Afc southampton?

You mean FC United of Manchester ? Actually I think my boss (works in Eastleigh) is part of AFC Wimbledon's committee structure. But to be honest, if we can't work it out for ourselves...

    Afc southampton?

We wouldn't be in the Isthmian (Rymans) League Div One as that's a London area League. We'd be in the Wessex League, or possibly the British Gas (Southern League) South and West Division. Which is step 4 of non-League - but an exception might be possible - if a LOT annoying to existing non-League teams.
  12. This is totally untrue, but good theory. Total Network Solutions ceased to exist when BT bought the Total Network Solutions company and no longer wanted to sponsor the football team which had its name. The club didn't want to go back to their old name of Llansantffraid - presumably because they'd pretty much never won anything under that name, so they renamed themselves The New Saints, still to be known as TNS - the "santt" bit is Saint in Welsh, not that I know any Welsh, of course... [-o Oh, and for a League which "banned commercial naming" they strangely seem to have teams called "Gap Connah's Quay", "NEWI/Elements Cefn Druids" "Airbus UK" and "Technogroup Welshpool FC" under their umbrella. Nice research.
  13. Two words for you to Google : Coventry Talbot.
  14. It did.
  15. With the exception of the bit in bold, another classic rant of utter nonsense, this site's getting well known for them. Yes, warped. Let's get the administrator to do all of the dealings with the FL, rather than, say, the people interested in taking over the club.

    Timescales

Thankee, will remove that little problem...
  17. Not to mention the fact that I actually made that up on this site about a week ago and they obviously nicked the whole thread from here, sarcasm and all...
  18. Hah, now THAT'S timing. Started the post with "need to hear from Fry" at about 4:20, just as the statement is released !!!
  19. Down there VVVVVVVV
  20. Yeah, but Fry announced he'd been talking to others in his statement on Friday - and since at the very least last week. If he's been doing his job properly (no comment required) Pinnacle's exclusivity ended on June 19th and he'd have been talking to others since then, so there could be 11 days' worth of discussions under his belt already. Also, Fry's stated the contracts are in place so the onus is on the bidder to prove funds (I think that's what he was waiting for from the "abroad" offer at the start of this week). If he doesn't say anything prior to Friday I'd say we're screwed though, cos Friday is the "discuss with directors" option that I've assumed will result in "wind up club".
  21. No, Jackson said his lot wouldn't. They were Israeli, allegedly. From what Fry said on Friday there were Pinnacle, Swiss (I have assumed they are the "bid from abroad", in which case he's been talking to them at the start of this week) and possibly 2 other interested parties - both of which I'd assume were well behind regarding timescales, and one of which might have been Jackson's "bid". So we're left with maybe the Swiss depending on the discussions with Fry at the start of the week, and maybe one other (Salz?).
  22. I have a feeling you're, quite rightly, going to get slaughtered for that.
  23. You're not the only one, but think of all those Saturdays you'll have free. You also may now have license to plastically support a team that wins stuff, like, um, Luton.
  24. Well, it's the Swiss or bust now.
