None of that is true though. You can only have 11 on the pitch at one time, so it doesn't matter how many are on the bench - as the ones who aren't playing reserve games in order to sit on the bench aren't getting that level of experience anyway. Plus if teams are really having a problem with it, just name 3 subs, that's allowed.

Dunno, I haven't bought it (sorry Dan) - you're the authority at the moment !

I suspect it means that 2 more players won't be playing for the reserves, which really is neither here nor there. Plus we don't HAVE to put 7 on the bench, do we? Neil Warnock will be happy though, he can dispense with his stupid practise of not having a keeper now.
-
If you look at the 21, that includes a few of the academy already who happen to have squad numbers : Gobern for instance. Fortunately at the moment we have players who are at least worth a look in League One.

Possibly the geekiest link I've ever Googled : http://www.cbrd.co.uk/motorway/m3/timeline.shtml Construction Timeline When the various parts of the M3 were built, listed in chronological order. Open Jct Section 1971 J3-8 Ligh****er - Popham 1974 J1-3 Sunbury - Ligh****er 1985 J8-10 Popham - Bar End 1991 J12-14 Pitmore - Chilworth 1995 J10-12 Bar End - Pitmore Thanks to the sweary filter for removing t - w -a - t from the middle of Light-water. Timeline also reminds me of the massive annoyance factor of graduating the year before Twyford Down was completed.

Trust me, the heat is obviously getting to me.. Harsh, the quickest way to Cardiff from Southampton is M3, A34, M4...

The rumour I heard was that the Dyer sale paid some of it, (weird) and the rest was met by Crouch in exchange for involvement on the board. As for Lynam's statement, it would need to be checked very carefully for ambiguities - there are various ways in which he could have said they received exclusivity which cost £500k without actually saying they paid for it.
-
What ? Newport County website in typo shocker ?
-
You're right - and they've changed that in the past week, cos when I looked there on Thursday LAST week it said July 2nd !

More of this. Just cos I can't find anywhere more relevant to dump it, there's also an article about Leeds here from 2007 which indicates unequivocally that a team is permitted to begin the season when in administration (last paragraph) : http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/2316879/Leeds-have-golden-share-withheld.html This is DESPITE all the hoo-ha around Leeds' lack of CVA, Leeds' reluctant acceptance of a 15-point penalty (later appealed) AND the League, at that point, refusing to transfer the "golden share" to the new owners (Leeds United 2007). My reading of that situation is that the Football League still sees Southampton FC as a member, and obviously acknowledges that they are currently in admin - but that situation is adequate for the club to play matches, as the share still rests with the "current"/previous(?) ownership. It is only when the takeover has to be agreed to by the FL (all the CVA business usually) that the transfer of the share becomes relevant - this doesn't have to happen before the start of the season, and the only limit on admin is the 18 months. This is also borne out by Notts County going nearly a full 18 months in admin and starting seasons when in admin. So we can rumble on without the takeover and golden share for as long as Fry lets us - and presumably for as long as we can get eleven registered players on the pitch to fulfil fixtures, which is going to coincide with paying the staff. I'm assuming the reason we don't have STs for sale is because any potential bidders will want to set their own charges as a major part of their business plan.
-
Actually they're out today.
-
No, on Friday Fry will meet with the directors ONLY IF THERE ARE NO BIDS.
-
No-one has actually said we'll be wound up, it's just the most likely result of the meeting Fry would be having with the Directors in the even of there not being any bids by Friday. As the Echo is now reporting (somewhere) that an overseas bid may be completed next week, that would pre-empt the need for the "no bids" meeting on Friday.
-
It was broadcasting this morning, came up on the Sat Nav as "Play", and I heard Living On A Prayer by Bon Jovi. How apt.
-
We will walk this league. At some point in the future. Or some team from Southampton will. Probably.
-
It wasn't more likely to be a winding up order at all, because Fry has already said we have until the end of the week to receive bids before he considers other options.
-
I think it's fair enough some days, and other times I'm pretty much incredulous that they can apparently just make up the rules as they go.
-
£10, I bought mine today.
-
Oh yes they could, it's in their rules. We will see. Again, I hope I'm wrong. Even the FL email reply above doesn't rule out the possibility of further sanctions. It merely says a waiver was raised as an issue, neither confirming nor denying that additional sanctions might be levied. Anyway, I don't think I can say that "despite the semantics and the legalities I don't think we should assume the FL is fine with our situation and may yet deduct more points" in many other ways, so I'm going to leave it there...
-
Funnily enough even Wotte's not going to get me to tune in to that load of drivel.
-
Didn't watch the reserves much then, as he's been excellent for them for at least 18 months, particularly his crossing. I'm not going to argue that he hasn't matched that in the first team though, he's been disappointing, even when not asked to play at right back behind Ryan bloody Smith.
-
If we ever get that far... ...Lloyd James will get called up for Wales and/or the U-21s if he's still eligible too, so we won't need to worry about it, that'll be a postponement. It's only 2 players required to get games called off, even the likes of (now-Conference) Wrexham rarely had games on International weekends due to the Wales U-21s !! We might want to keep an eye on those international fixture cancellations though if they're away games with people booking travel etc.
-
Saw this on 606 a few days ago. Sort of strange but also logical. He's better than about half their team, too... I wonder if Stern John had anything to do with putting the idea into his head? Can't hurt for Thomson to get some international experience anyway, even if it is only CONCACAF and the highlights will probably be losing to USA and Mexico.
-
I think our back 4 should be Davis (hey, he hasn't left yet according to any media sources) Forecast, Bialkowski, Perry, Poke Genius (especially playing Perry at CB when he's the shortest of the lot).
