Not xenopohobic, no, but "more use than all the freeloading immigrants" and "he'd be a useful addition to British soil" are not exactly the same viewpoint, and I had to go back and see that the post above was from the same person who made the initial one, to be honest.
-
Hey, no-one it Britain even had it until 1992.
-
"My mate down the pub says immigrants are freeloaders." "Oh yeah, what does your mate do ?" "He's got a bad wrist so he's been signed off for 4 years." "O RLY ?" Not sure it's so much the majority view as the "majority of people who like their baseless opinions to be heard in the pub", though.

Double LOL, not worth getting infracted about though ! I posted something like that initially and then on reflection downgraded it to general "poke-the-idiot-with-a-stick" type stuff.
-
I'd swap him for you, based on that load of nonsense...

These bloody Radhi Jaidis, they come over here and try to take our centre back jobs but can't due to work permit legislation, so they hang around the Bargate in their hoodies scaring the elderly and drinking Shakeaways or something.
-
I would stress that I don't know whether we've already tried that, but the BBC article certainly doesn't stress that an appeal existed, never mind been turned down, it only says that the initial application was rejected.

Same basic argument, slightly different era. Football being used for financial leverage to the detriment of the game in general is a bad thing, m'kay. Your point that we could be self-sufficient and everyone else would soon fall by the wayside due to their unserviceable debt was about as far wrong as you can get - at least for now. We failed to be self-sufficient, got relegated, nearly disappearing altogether, whilst lots of clubs refinanced debts despite the credit crunch and three of those with the biggest debt are three of the most successful and showing no signs of failing. As I mentioned on here a while back, it's great to be a self-funding and sustainable football club, but not so great when everyone else and their multi-millionaires goes racing past you. Fortunately for Saints, if disappointingly for football, we couldn't beat them, so joined them.

THIS is the important bit of the (nicely found) legal stuff above, the appeal process after the bog-standard and usually rejected initial Work Permit application : Panels Where an application does not meet the published criteria, a club may request a panel to consider the player’s skills and experience. In these cases the sports and entertainments team, Border and Immigration Agency, will refer the club's evidence to an independent panel. Where possible the club’s supporting evidence will be sent to the governing bodies in advance for their consideration in order to allow an informed decision. The panel will normally consist of representatives from the relevant football governing bodies together with up to three independent experts. The panel's terms of reference are: To consider whether the player is of the highest calibre To consider whether the player is able to contribute significantly to the development of the game at the top level in UK. The panel will make a recommendation to the Border and Immigration Agency whose decision will then be relayed to the club. Pretty sure that's how we got Pahars in, the application gets rejected, you appeal, it gets considered by a panel. I should think there's plenty of grounds for a Jaidi appeal to be accepted.

Yeah, well done for repeating an argument that was old in 1998 and claiming it as your own. David Conn might have something to say about it. Not to mention that apparently Saints' set-up in 08/09 would stand us in good stead as clubs with rich owners fell by the wayside... Erm, no, we're now One Of Them, and the one closest to disappearing altogether thanks to that approach. The only difference is that we're not debt leveraged, and supposedly Pinnacle would have seen to that, too. I might be better off assuming the Nostradamus comment was sarcasm, it works bette that way.

Isn't this kind of thing libellous ?
-
Maybe when he's 34. Stern John's fitness was behind when he started training with us late, it's not exactly a shock that he's not up to Palace's level when he was below ours under a week ago.
-
Now if only someone could tell him (and most of the pundits and managers, players, etc.) that that particular league rebranded back to the Premier League a couple of years ago, I'd be right there with him. :smt070

Looking at the actual quote he doesn't blame Pardew at all, all he does is say "we both know what the situation was" and then accurately explains what the situation was, albeit with an arguable comment about "keeping us up" the season before. The headline has little relevance to the comments - again... All he's said of Pardew is that he knew what was going on and that Pardew knows what John's reasons for not staying are - the WORST interpretation being that he got messed around previously and wanted out, and had the chance to do so for more money. However, I can already see that this is going to turn into a Kevin Phillips-esque witch hunt, based on a bunch of people not actually reading what he said, only the headline... :smt103

But it is our fault. If we hadn't been in jeopardy of being in admin he'd have probably played last season, if we hadn't been in admin he'd have probably got a new deal sooner - he might still have left, but the circumstances we're of his making, and I can't blame him for wanting to leave given how he got shipped out to suit the club's wage bill, and with us having breached his (and everyone else's) contract twice since May.
-
"Part" in the sense that he spent 95% of it with a competely different club ?
-
Le Tissier had 10 teammates on the pitch too, you know.
-
6, 7, 12, 14 and 16 are free, after that its 34-43. If I was a right back with that choice I'd want 12.
-
Once he stopped throwing himself into 20 yard sliding tackles through the back of his man and getting booked in practically every game he did ok - he might have more to offer than Wotton alongside Gillett in the middle though, which is probably why Henderson was putting him back in there pre-season.
-
Euell also played in attacking midfield for the 3 seasons prior to signing for Saints when he was at Charlton and Middlesbrough...
-
There's a Euell article in FourFourTwo magazine this month (the "Season Starts Here" one with Arshavin on the cover) that was written before he left and amongst other things explains how little the players knew about what was going on. No massively shocking claims but an interesting read... as is the Season Preview thing on Saints which has us finishing 19th, two pics of the team playing Wolves last season (you'd think we wear red shorts from the pictures) and with Paul Wotton as our key player. FWIW When Saturday Comes in their preview has us finishing somewhere around 16th based on the usual "other fans in the division vote for promoted and relegated teams" - we were on 0 Promotion votes and 3 relegation ones. :smt103

I don't remember having a chance in the second half - there was a terrible 30 yard lofted through ball to the keeper's arms though. As for the hat-trick, would have been interesting to see what happened had the pen come third not second... and I don't usually take penalties either.
-
On the contrary, neither was a scuff and the FIRST one was terrible defending

It's a random draw.
