Other (non English) teams that are similar to Saints 'way' ?
The9 replied to eddie's topic in The Saints
We're trailblazers in being competent and making sensible decisions with a plan compared to much of the rest of English football. FWIW I'd say Spurs are the closest thing to Saints, basically the same stuff but with more money and a more attractive location. -
That thread was from 2013: https://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?46743-Gazzaninga-to-Gillingham#.WWfUlYgrLIU and had been bumped recently with a link to ClubCall claiming we're touting him to Nantes (who are currently managed by Ranieri).

That article would make a nice template for "what Les Reed wants in a manager" though. Those "black box coincidences" are still going to down to the new manager knowing some players we're already keeping an eye on though. There are plenty of them, after all.

Perfectly possible if the only train back to the hotels people are staying in leaves before the original final whistle...
-
With the appropriate "new tv deal" inflation.

If he's been making out we're a club battling for 8-12th then we're even better than I thought. Also, if we win the Prem Leicester-style this year I wouldn't give a shaky sh01te if we sold the entire team the following summer, tbh. Can't let your hilarious pessimism go uncommented though - if we sell a load of players next year it will only be because we've done really well in the forthcoming season. At the moment I still think THAT part of it is perfectly possible.

Not planning on seeing any Yeovil games this season...
-
Because all of the groups were regionally placed last week, with the U21 teams drawn into one of those groups yesterday. I'm quite pleased because Newport are away to Forest Green which is within 2 hours' drive of Southampton in midweek, and if I do that I don't need to go to Forest Green v Newport in the league, which frees me up for Saints v Newcastle without needing it shifted for tv. However, as they're announcing the Prem tv games for October before the Checkatrade game is played, I can wait and see anyway.

Good enough to be second or third choice at a team in Europa League.
-
Having seen a bit of Olomola and a fair bit of L2 football he's got every chance of scoring 15 goals before January in his spell there, and Yeovil aren't much cop. The Newport-supporting bit of me is a bit annoyed they weren't in for him.
-
All of the U21 sides play all their games away.
-
All our academy sides play a class up. Also, the U23s are the Premier League 2 side which effectively constitute our reserves, this is an U21 team due to the Checkatrade Trophy rules.
-
Dear Iain, You should probably address your letter to the EFL. Regards, The FA.
-
Decent enough defensively, perfect for the style we used away in Europa League last season and clearly rated by Koeman. We won't miss him with Cedric and Pied though.
-
Just like none of them did in 2015 the last time they had a friendly there.
-
Eastleigh managed to have their game v Wimbledon called off by the visitors yesterday because they weren't happy with the pitch after its replacement. Eastleigh also have a couple of free slots for a friendly as I know for a fact they're not playing Newport on 22nd as claimed on their website (because Newport's website said it was 29th and I tweeted the County to sort it out, which they did by scheduling Northampton instead).

St Gallen are Swiss.
-
Not sure I'd be taking information from a club stating our coach is Pascal Plancque tbf. They've only got the St Gallen game on there anyway.
-
Of course he was, because that's what a "pay as you play" deal involves, isn't it? A non-playing role.
-
They'll be hoping the pitch is playable, seeing as Wimbledon refused to play on it yesterday.
-
There isn't, and hasn't been for about 5 years now. They pay everyone for at least 10 games whether they show them that many times or not. As there are now lots more televised games than there were when that rule was in place, chances are a team will be on 10 times anyway. Given our easy start we're likely to dodge the Oct/Nov games too, because they're decided in August, but if we're in the top 6 as I anticipate we might be, we will get killed over Xmas by the scheduling as usual, as already noted above.
-
If they sign Sigurðsson there's no guarantee he'll work out for them the way he does at Swansea. Spurs seemed happy enough to get rid...
-
Yeah, we got ourselves out of having to play Europa League and they've got themselves into it. That should cover off most of the 15 points without transfers even coming into it.
-
We have McCarthy covering that off if he can stay fit.
