  1. If I wanted something which was loosely based on the premise that "capitalism is bad" yelled from the rooftops, I'd probably ring Chorley too.
  2. If the irregularity is running a company to skim off millions of quid for private gain then a club loses both ways. And I am not suggesting that's what happened, God forbid I turn into one of those people who thinks there was some kind of illegal personal profit motive behind everything in the last 13 years.
  3. Aldershot (Town), Newport County, Maidstone United etc. all of whom went during the last recession in the late 80s/early 90s, but all of whom were never much more than Associate Members of the FL - it's the warnings about a "big club" going that have been around for at least 25 years that we should be concerned about.
  4. Yes, what he said. They're also all short-sleeved, apparently. The XL is not a "big" XL either, nearer a L I'd say.
  5. Pretty much everything, to be honest.
  6. And by "Saturday" you mean the 3 games on Saturday, one on Monday and then the 3 games the following Sunday that almost if not all have to go our way for us to stay up ?
  7. Would that be your Social Group that I was a member of until yesterday ?
  8. I am definitely not having my Forum username on my shirt, its self parody and doesn't work out of context. Griffo, there are a few Griff-somethings around. I am slightly concerned that nickh thinks the Home Team are old. And that I haven't seen Baj run since 2005.
  9. Interesting that you don't seem to grasp that Chorley talking a load of sh1te and Saints being near to extinction might both be true.
  10. If we don't play the last game they'd expunge ALL of our results from the League Table, not just award Forest a win, so nice idea, but utter cobblers. There are plenty of precedents of this happening at all levels of football.
  11. Volunteered to take on the task of managing the aways, gaffer ?
  12. I should think after the Charlton game their fans would think the same about us - other than the bit about people being decent on their forum...
  13. Don't worry, I've offered a pair of home shorts on loan as compensation.
  14. Also WOOOOOOT I see my shotgunning 9 has worked !
  15. We've already agreed that, except that Steve's already said he's buying the socks now. Did you read the post ?
  16. I can't believe we'd get more than a million for him and half of that is based on potential which he's not come close to realising with us. Relatively speaking Blackstock and Best were both better prospects when they left us, and they're hardly setting the world alight. His goal against Palace is about the only shot or pass I've ever seen him hit which didn't bobble or trundle along before it reached its destination, and our persistence with him alone up front for the first 5 months of the season is a large part of the reason we're where we are.
  17. Rather harsh on Gobern, who looked a class apart for the reserves at the start of the season.
  18. Actually we were quite good against Preston and Cardiff for a bit... Burnley don't really need any more points for the play-offs, they're already 5th and Swansea or Preston losing either of their remaining 2 games pretty much sees them in. I'd also quite like to see Derby beat Reading to ease Burnley's concerns and assist our cause (but not as much as I'd like to see Barnsley lose).
  19. Coventry's run in has so far done everything possible to assist in relegating us, I'm not expecting any favours from them tonight either... Their last three results, against other relegation rivals... Football League Championship Plymouth 4-0 Coventry 11-04-2009 Football League Championship Coventry 0-0 Charlton 13-04-2009 Football League Championship Nottm Forest 1-0 Coventry 18-04-2009
  20. I judged him on his results, it's a results-driven business.
  21. Can we use this thread to keep track of who needs what kit ? That way people can beg and borrow if they want. As all the shirts and socks are taken care of (ta Steve) it's really just shorts that we need to organise. I've got all the grey away kit already but am happy to fork out another £2.50 for the socks anyway, basically cos I'm a sucker for bits of kit and they're a bargain. I also have a pair of the official home shorts in Med/Large (can't remember which) so if someone in the home team wants to borrow a pair, PM me.
  22. As the Blue Sq Prem is the highest league below the Football League's auspices it's perfectly possible that general enquiries have been made in the unlikely event that there's a need to turf a club out. We won't get booted 2/3 divisions for "financial irregularities" even if they found them, no-one ever has been and even Swindon only ended up going down one division in 1990 when they got caught - but they might be checking if a club kicked out for failing to fulfil its fixtures, or a club following on from Saints but a separate entity, was able to be admitted to the top level of non-League, just in case... I seem to recall in the dying throes of Newport County 1912-89 there was a similar discussion with the Conference (where Newport had just failed to complete a season), and the erstwhile Chairman of the bankrupt (and groundless) old club claimed they had been accepted into the Isthmian League Premier (then one League below the Conference) for 1989/90, while the "replacement" Newport AFC club joined the Hellenic League which fed the regional section of the Southern League. Needless to say the Chairman who presided over the death of the original club failed to produce a team at all the following season. When it comes down to it, all clubs are members of the League, and if they can't keep you because you've broken the rules, but liked having you around and want you back, it makes sense for them to check you can be dumped as near as possible to the top of the pyramid.
  23. I think it's naive to try and claim that a large proportion of the dislike for Wupes didn't stem from his upper-class demeanour. He could have presided over a new stadium, an FA Cup Final, top 8 Premiership finish, European football and seen us in the top 4 at one point and people still would have sniped about him being posh... On a general note, football for profit ? What's that ? Is anyone outside the Prem managing it ?
  24. I am ITK on Saints kit stock, occasionally its availability and alternative Umbro kit worn by other teams that's similar (eg Charcoal grey Hull City away shorts...) and that's about it, though I do know Steve is planning an update very soon...
