  1. What for? Obviously not to play football but the mind boggles
  2. Therein lies the clue. 'The commentators'. Those who were actually there saw an immense man of the match performance. Clearly he has benefited from being left out when he wasn't quite at the races. What he particularly showed is that a lack of searing pace on the ground is not that important even in the Prem if you are quick where it really matters - with the brain. He was pivotal in that respect in the two 9 or 10 pass moves around the box that set up chances for Puncheon
  3. As I suspected this post has brought the numbskulls out of the woodwork. Dont you realise that sensible well-argued posts just aren't the thing on here? Still FWIW100% support from me.
  4. ER -- they didn't come on too late. The side which started the game gave us our best chance of winning. We blew it in the first half missing two relatively simple chances and giving away a sh££ goal. Hence when they scored their world class second instead of being an equaliser it was the winner. Pretty simple really. After that we had our moments in possession and missed two more chances - created by teh players who started the game. The number of times substitutes help sides turn round two-nil deficits despit a few amzing exceptions is very very few.
  5. Well he worked his balls off last night and was by a long long way the best Saints player so make your own judgement
  6. Why are people getting so upset about our reserves losing at Leeds - one of the hardest places to go in the Championship. It would have been nice for them to have got a better result but certainly not important.
  7. Not this old chestnut. I do'nt know how he cons people into believing it. Harry's transfers deals have lined his own pockets true but they have never benefiited any club he has worked for. Indeed all of them or 'their owners' have gone into administration shortly after he left except Spurs - and one reason for sacking him was a concern about those dealings. He has nothing to offer this club except certain relegation - leaving us stranded in the Champioshipm with over-paid overvalued players AGAIN.
  8. Yes - totally as several others have alreday pointed out.
  9. And ........it seems important to some people on here...not at all a nice human being!
  10. There is a huge difference between Messi - the ultimate team player - who is prepared to share the glory around, support his team-mates etc - and Mr Selfish Are459e who, however good he is, would not be an asset in a team of young guys needing that support. Cole is one of a (hopefully dieing) breed of players who came through when the first really big money came in who really don't care about the game, the other people in it or indeed anyone but themselves. They have all grown rich on the game and given nothing back. In fact they think they are bigger than the game so why should they. They are not all Chelsea defenders but there have been a few in recent England tournament squads and it is their big time Charlie attitudes that have led to England underperforming not the inclusion of hapless individuals like Stewart Downing, who have at least given their mediocre best. The England team will only pick-up when they have been finally cleared out from the squad. As for Cashely in a Saints shirt it will hopefully never happen but I would certainly seriously think about never going again if it did.
  11. Before firing off posts why not spend a second or two thinking about what you are writing! It kind of suggests nothing of the kind. 7 million has been spent on a promising young player who adds to the squad we are building as a whole. I personally think he will turn out to be very good indeed but he is learning is craft at PL level. As part of that process we are playing him in more than one role. We are learning about him and he is learning about the PL. So far he has not set the world on fire but I have not seen anyone affordable (Van Persie might well have done better) who would have obviously made a better choice. There is no great issue here.
  12. You are actually too nice to these ****ers!
  13. Frankly we spent the money very wisely. All of the players we have brought in have both looked good and good value - except Jay Rod and he will be fine in time. The fact that we also were chasing players for other positions we needed to fill shows a commitment which we can only be thankful for. Sadly despite us offering well over their value in a couple of cases their employing clubs didn't want to let them go. How you manage to turn that into a criticism of our appraoch to the market is beyond me.
  14. NO. It always ends in tears. Spurs' owners were desparate to get rid of him before he drive them to the wall but at least they did act before it got out of hand. Every other team he has managed has gone into financial meltdown shortly after he left!
  15. and indeed the worst in our history Redknapp
  16. We are selling out everey game by wearing those f**&^ng awful red shirts.
  17. Indeed anyone who believes different has been very badly informed indeed.
  18. I agree - absolutely bonkers suggestion. Sadly the original poster just does not get it. Whilst clubs like West Ham and QPR may have money to burn and are prepared to throw it at almost any target in the hope that one of them does the business, our Board at last is trying to run the club as a logical business. It is a shame that some of our other targets weren't obtainable but we did pretty well. And the stress we caused the FA over virtually all of our Summer transfers is evidence of just how much work our people had to put in to get the business done. Fonte and Seabourne might not be the strongest back up centre-backs in the Prem but whilst lets hope we dont need to use them much, they are well integrated into a tight group that has already produced more than many expected and will finish out of trouble - maybe do even better if we get our targets in January and they bed in.
  19. If he really was bought to replace Lambo - which I really doubt - both he and whoever thought that are going to be VERY disappointed. I imagine he was bought to complement him and given time - three bits of games really aren't enough to make this judgement - I suspect he will be a success.
  20. The idea of playing Richardson (yes really Richardson!) in preference to Fox suggests that someone has detached totally from reality. I am all for off the wall opinions but really.
  21. like most of Saints transfers this summer (like Clyne and Gazza for example) this transfer is complicated by the multiple interested parties. I would not be at all surprised if we learn that the deal is done but official announcement will only come when the fa is happy with paperwork and agrees to the transfer of registration. Indeed I would put money on it!
  22. no it wont because it isnt true. Mexico is in North America period
  23. Why do people think QPR will do so well? I just dont get it. They struggled last year and now they will be amnaged for a whole season by Mark Hughes!!! This is a man who starts well - well he's a BIG manager - but then everyone realises he is an arrogant tosser and he uspets players and owners alike, everything goes downhill and he gets sacked/'resigns'. I predict a definite repeat and 19th place.
  24. There really is no need to be offensive. The bottom line is that so far you and those who agree with you have not been able to name a SINGLE player who would be worth the fee and wages they would require who is certain to be better than the players we have or the excellent 3 we have so far brought in (I am not counting the keeper because he has been bought as a longer-term prospect). In contrast look at how Reading have brought in players like Shorey; Gunter and Guthrie who have all been shown up to be wanting at the highest level. Lets just hope we can continue in the vein we have been going in and get the keeper and CH we need. Until we see who they are I am, not sure there is much we can conclude about the squad although I am going to invest a small amount of my windfall from last season on a top half finish.
