  1. I think you have missed the point of the thread. All the other posters are being ironic. This on the other hand is absolutely true.
  2. Trumped up is right. I have to say that I dont care either way. It is a dispute between two people who clearly have more money than sense. Shame about Benali though. I loved him as aplayer - despite his obvious limitations he always appeared totally committed. Sadly he comes out of this as a total arse.
  3. Mark Hughes never played for Saints. He wore the shirt; he took the money but he definitely never played.
  4. I haven't got that far so hope no-one else has done this but Hollowbread and I think Reynolds both played for Spurs before us.
  5. The story by the so called 'journalist' is indeed ludicrous; heavy-handed and indeed embarassing. The Saints cannot and indeed did not ban anyone from doing anything outside of the areas for which they are reponsible. But yes they do seem to take their reponsibility for customer's safety and comfort pretty seriously and I for one am glad we didn't have to manoeuvre our way through TV crews and the like who seem to think they have some divine right to get in people's way and cause maximum inconvenience. The club even seem to have gone out of their way to assist by pointing out convenient public ground where they could conduct interviews. It's a real struggle to see what the story is here.
  6. Butland would be a good addition but hardly essential before the Summer. A better wing option to bring on than De Ridder would be good but the only area I think we really need to strengthen is RIGHT back. If Clyne gets injured we are left relying on Richardson (not good) or moving Cork or Yoshida (not good at all - they are both decent full-backs but it weakens us elsewhere).
  7. Then I fear it is you that is the idiot. As you say they (if you mean by they the management of the club) have indeed done everything they could to show they are not idiots. Getting Ricky - the natural leader - onside was just one of these moves and it certainly paid off in both his performance and in the attitudes of the others.
  8. Why on earth do you and so many like you continue with this nonsense about these being alternatives? Mayuka is a very promising aquisition in a position where we definitely needing strengthening in the long term process of building up our squad to be able to compete in the PL. It is hardly a secret that more time and energy was spent in the last transfer window trying to sign the two centre-backs NA identified as required than were spent on any any other position. In the end we only got one - and he was not probably one of the main targets. But you can't force teams to sell players or players to move. No great scandal. Absolutely nothing to complain about. If we get Astori the wait will certainly have been worth it.
  9. More to the point the Ramirez deal was just about the simplest deal we completed in the Summer, as whilst the need to make the direct payment to the Uruguyan club because they didn't trust Bologna to pay them their sell-on fee, was a hassle it was at least something we could resolve. On the other hand the FA compliance unit must have been driven nuts by the Davis deal - no selling club existed at the point we tried to sign him and yet his registration belonged elsewhere; Clyne - where there were two people claiming to be his agent and due a fee; Gazzaniga - where third party ownership raised its ugly head. It is to Saints great credit that they managed to get all these deals complete despite the complications.
  10. If you are serious you are a very very sad boy indeed. What do you actually go to matches for - if indeed you do go? The Stoke game was not only an excellent result but fantastic to be part of - a great experience - and an example of why despite all the love on here for the Championship it is great to be back in the Premier League. The performances at Stoke and against Arsenal were also very sound indeed. Indeed as you dont seem to have been keeping up - in the last 10 league games we have won 3 drawn 5 and lost only 2. Not only that but in those games we have played bright attacking football that quite rightly has drawn praise from a range of objective observers. By any yardstick that is not bad form.
  11. Thank God we didn't get the first choices. Not only did we get better players but we had money to spare on others!
  12. No I think he is just an idiot. The clue is in the overall lack of logic. Lambert isn't good enough for the Prem and will get us relegated but wont stay with us in the Champioship because another Prem club will snap him up!!!!!!!!!!
  13. It doesn't get anyone with the slightest interest in the club doing well at all frustrated. As has been pointed out on here amny many times it really does not serve any conceivable positive purpose to give out details of who or who isn't playing in a game in advance - such is the minute way teams plan these days. When Lallana runs out at Fulham or even tomorrow it won't be a deal breaker but it will be a challenge to whatever plans they have made. Anyway seeing exactly who is in the team just before the match begins is one of the great things about live games and long may it be so.
  14. I think in some ways he is right. Anyone who wears only an elf hat is a pussy. I urge all real men to go the whole hog - the full ill-fitting crimplene elf costume with a stiffened hat (a la Gandalf) and of course the elf slippers with bells. Now that is what I call dressing up for Christmas. Go on - you know you want to but are you man enough?
  15. Tell him to find another club? Certainly if he was playing for one I had anything to do with.
  16. The rather strange position people have on Boruc continues to puzzle me. He was rather ordinary for years at Celtic - frankly not good enough for the PL for certain. He went to Fiorentina as back-up and rather surprisingly found himself replacing Frey for two seasons. They clearly thought his day was run though and didn't offer him a new contract. Nor did anyone else. We were desperate for a third keeper and signed him but quite why we should expect him to be better than Davis or Gazza in these circumstances is puzzling. And it turns out he isnt!
  17. For once a post on here that has made me really laugh out loud. This is teh standard of irony that most posters can only dream of. Top marks.
  18. Whereas I think we would have beaten Norwich if we has scored one more goal.
  19. You are being a bit harsh on Kelvin but certainly Gazza deserves his place at the moment. Blimey one mistake by a young keeper and the knives are out on here.
  20. This years kit is undoubtedly the very very worst (just beats the raspberry ripple, sash and penguin outfits). The best any one of the classic red and white unembellished stripes.
  21. Maybe its because every time your previous points have been shown to be so so wrong that you just keep on recycling in a different form the same old dull whinging. Just a thought.
  22. Indeed as any newcomer would he stuggled a bit in his first few games but he has really come good of late and was indeed very impressive against Newcastle. He and Fonte made Sisse and Ba look very ordinary indeed.
  23. But there is nothing to debate - other than your assertio,n for which you have produced no evidence, that there is some sinister significance to the wording of an advert for a commercial company in the programme. Not news. Not interesting. Sorry actually to everyone that I have even been lulled into replying.
  24. Appointing Harry doesn't strengthen them. I just don't get it. He's won nothing despite spending ridiculous amounts of money. He's bankrupted 4 clubs. And people wanted him for the England job! It's as if he bewiches people into believing he is a good manager. Harry Potter rather than Harry Redknapp.
  25. Do not be silly. I originally assumed that people were on some sort of enormous wind-up on this strand. Whatever you once thought of him, Beckham was past it some time ago. Whilst there is no doubt he would jump at the chance to play for ANY PL club, it is not going to happen. There is no way that he could be played in the PL now. He is not daft though and clearly he anticipates struggling even in MLS next year and so is looking for a 'new football challenge' (sometimes unfairly translated as loads of money for a relatively easy billet). That will likely come in the form of a contract in Asia - probably China - that he has already agreed. Good luck to him and if you were a fan you still have your memories. I do too - of Franny always having him in his pocket at the Dell. Magnificent.
