  1. Panic sacking would have been 10 games ago mate, we're way past that now.
  2. I've lost count of the amount of times Pellegrino has been tactically outsmarted this season. Starting to think he just happened to turn up to the wrong interview and got the job.
  3. A draw is (however unfair) was probably the worst result we could have had. Sadly I think it will only prolong the inevitable.
  4. Can't help feeling this would be a massive risk for us. He's essentially a better version or Redmond - which ain't saying much. The massive transfer fee and likely 100k wages (he's currently on 140k) he would want, coupled with his sparse scoring and frequent injuries mean this could be a waste of money.
  5. The idea that VVD would put in sub-par performances for us after the window shuts doesn't really make sense. He needs to play football to continue to put himself in the shop window. If he consistantly plays badly, I would imagine interest in him would significantly die down. If he does decide to sulk on the bench and push for a move in Jan, that will mean nearly a year out of 1st team football - I'm not sure that's in his best interest if he wants a big move.
  6. I was thinking yesterday this could have been Chamberlain, his family live in the area right?
  7. A friend has a ticket available, so I thought I would see if anyone on here wants first dibbs.
  8. The only bit about that I don't agree with is that Yosh is a good centre-back. He's average, okay as back up. He's not particularly strong or fast, his passing is okay but he really lacks composure and is very error prone. The more he's relied upon the more his weaknesses will become apparent.
  9. Penalty at Everton?
  10. I can't understand people thinking Yosh is good enough to be our first choice CB. After 3 1/2 years of our coaching he's still a ticking time bomb every game. He just about gets away with being back up, but even then has a dodgey back pass or a penalty in him. A potential relegation battle looms and for Yosh to be first choice is worrying.
  11. Yoshida being first choice is a one way ticket to relegation. The guy has had 3 years with our coaching and is still a ticking time bomb in every game. We needed another CB anyway, and to hear rumours we won't be replacing is very worrying. Gardos hasn't played in two years, and even when he did play for us he looked wooden - so to rely on him as back up is naive.
  12. 34m for Mane plus 2m addons, and 15m for Pelle. Wouldn't call that cheap.
  13. Adam Blackmore replying to someone on Twitter RE Les: "to be fair, he gets criticised for not speaking when things are happening & spin when he does - take your choice"
  14. Adam Blackmore replying to someone on twitter RE Les Reed: 'to be fair, he gets criticised for not speaking when things are happening & spin when he does - take your choice' You've managed to do both in one go.
  15. I really hope the board have a plan B, because Puel can't seem to turn things around. It's like teams don't have to beat us, just wait and we'll eventually capitulate; and it's almost as if the players feel that too. We're unable to use the pace of Long or Redmond (arguably their best strengths) because the tempo Puel sets is so slow, by the time we are in an attacking position their defensive players are back in position; and we end up just knocking it around in front of them. Counter attacking is basically non-existent. Claude has already said he doesn't like buying in January - in fairness for good reasons - so don't have high hopes there. Yoshida is not premier league standard, at least one howler every game guaranteed. His rotation seems odd too. Boufal rested today, yet he's off to the ACN tomorrow - why would we give a toss if he's puffed out of that? Leaving Berty out too was just bemusing. We've conceded 9 in the last three, seems like CPs defensive football doesn't even stop the goals. He's a very uninspiring personality and I know people will point to him going nuts when we score, but his team talks clearly do jack all. Very worrying that we've lost to the likes of West Brom, Hull and Palace and barely put up a fight against teams above us. Was a gamble given that he's never managed out of France, he's not suited to the premier league.
  16. Personally I don't think Pellegrini would be a good fit for saints. The formula that seems to have worked for us over the past five years is to select a manager who's career is in the ascendancy. For me, Pellegrini's career is in decline now. The guy has nothing to prove and would lack the hunger needed as far as i'm concerned.
  17. At 11m I think we've been shafted, even with the last year of contract it's got to be 15m minimum. Agreed that he had to go, but we should have just let a bidding war ensue. He's been linked with Arsenal and Leicester. I would rather we sell to anyone but Spurs. The only thing I can think of is Poch still has a good relationship with the club.
  18. I think Adam Blackmore said that towards the end some players felt as if it didn't matter how well they played, Koeman would't play them. I Koemans persistence in playing Pelle went when he went through through that stage where he couldn't hit a barn door is testimony to that. Victors behaviour and constant starts over the arguably better Romeu too. I don't think he's a manager that gambles on players like Poch did/does.
  19. Villas-Boas' is a great tactician but I'm not sold on his coaching ability (maybe its because he's relatively young - although poch is testimony to that). I don't get those ripping Eddie Howe. The guy has brought Bournemouth from LEAGUE TWO. Everyone saying his main achievement is avoiding relegation; I imagine almost everyone thought they would be the first to get relegated - and that was before almost all of their key players were injured. He's done a fine job there, I would take him.
  20. In a way I'm glad we're getting a new manager and starting a new chapter. According to some ITKs Koeman ****ed a lot of players off, and his repeated playing of Wanyama despite his lack of respect for the club particularly pi**sed me off. I don't know about anyone else, but I found his football quite boring towards the end and lacking ideas. Everton are getting a good manager, but that's as far as it goes imo. I don't think he will live up to the expectation that is currently being heaped upon him. I also can't see VVD or Forster moving after just signing a new deal. I would also add for the Everton fans that appear to be all over this forum, our problem in this saga isn't with Everton at all. Neutrals have been saying they're bemused by this move as much as we have. It's Koeman that has caused the animosity, by saying he would see out his deal three weeks ago - and lecturing people on honour and conducting yourself in the right way - just to turn out like the rest of them.
  21. The sooner the better. I lost respect for him when he refused to play for us when we needed him in Europa last season.
  22. Van Dijk has just signed a 6 year contract, and for me I don't think the others have done enough this season to attract the interest of the clubs that would pay the money we will ask. Long has scored goals, but his composure is still an issue - the only real option for him is Everton, in which case we will get back most of what we paid for him (which was inflated to begin with). Having said that, the sooner we are rid of Victor the better.
  23. One good thing about Koeman leaving us is that Victor won't be continuously started no matter how he conducts himself, especially when we have Romeu who, for me, is better in almost everyway (bar strength).
  24. This whole story seems like a smoke and mirrors. It doesn't make any sense for Koeman to go to Everton, the only real reason would have to be money - as much as Everton fans feel they are a massive club (I suppose every club has those fans though). The problem with that is, though, that Koeman has said a few times that choosing money over what's best for you is the wrong thing to do - I think he said that during the Victor saga, although I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong. I feel that he is a principled bloke, so if he is leaving he must feel that another season at saints would be detrimental to his career - and if he's had another summer of players knocking on his door wanting out, I can see why he would feel that way; he can't build anything.
