I tend to agree with this and captainChris above. He’s isn’t aggressive and doesn’t join in much with pressing - hence why he had a period of not getting in. Some of the critism was very valid though. The other side to your argument is that a lot of fans think our kids are immune to critisism. He played well today and vs Chelsea away in particular IMO. The stats i mentioned were from half time (whoscored.com) and I think NBC showed that as well. In fairness he did improve a bit 2nd half Clearly he’s young and should improve but people have compared him to Shaw and even Bale on this thread bizarrely. I would love to see him get better and he has got a bit of potential.. it’s his positional sense (which clearly a lot of people don’t pay attention to), first touch, poor heading, not getting involved in passing as much as he should and his crossing that is a concern IMO. He is a half decent tackler and will hopefully build on those weaknesses but it was madness from us not signing another RB for me especially as he hasn’t had a loan spell anywhere. I hope he has a decent game tomorrow as Rashford could give him a hard time On the other hand I watched the u23’s tonight and thought Ramsay was fantastic on the right (aside from giving away a pen) so he could be an option.. appreciate it’s a much lower level etc

Not sure what many people are watching. He was our worst player last night and stood out as way out of his depth. You can see our players don’t rate him as they are very reluctant to give him the ball when he’s an option on the right.. when he makes himself available that is. Very dopey player But he’s a youngster so it’s the Southampton way right?

Prowse’s best position (he would say so himself) is where Ralph has been playing him - in centre midfield as part of a 2/3 with more physical players next to him - ala PEH/Lemina/Romeu. He’s better a bit deeper than in a no 10 or as a wide man. RB is one thing but we are currently playing with wing backs and he is definitely not a wing back. He’s just finding form in this role so why on earth would we stick him at RWB? Madness and I don’t think Ralph is that stupid
