Exactly. And they rushed to announce this deal to soften the blow of losing grealish. Hence all the additional talk of cantwell.
-
Clearly Mr X was referring to being honest to the fans, which would only come From the media.
-
Until the right offer comes in ‘too good to turn down’. Even as pessimistic as I am, I can’t see allowing JWP Also going to villa after ings has.
-
Hang on, you’re the person who always claims multi million pound businesses wouldn’t be influenced by the media…. Which one is it?
-
Given ings was sold for 30m, that kind of sets the benchmark. Is Tammy better than ings? I’m not so sure, but he’ll certainly command a higher fee. If we hold our nerve and he’s still available towards the end of the window, then I reckon may 35m could do it. We should look at a loan with the option to buy in a similar vain to ings (I.e if we stay up we’re obliged to pay the fee).
-
A striker, at this point, should be number 1 priority.
-
£40m is hardly a fortune considering someone has just been sold for 30m
-
I reckon we’ll see a Carrillo type buy come in towards the end of the window. Miss out on our targets and panic buy some absolute clown for massively over the odds.
-
Fair. Memory obviously doesn’t serve me as well as I thought. Everyone is wrong every now and again I suppose.
-
Not technically true. We brought them with the funds from selling a world class CB (understandable). Regardless, it highlights why letting a proven goal scorer go, is risky business.
-
Cool. Let’s see how things pan out. This decline has been on the cards for a while now.
-
Nope. No change here. I don’t blame ings for going. Villa are showing ambition to improve, we’re not. The fact players see Villa as an upgrade due to our lack of ambition, is what pisses me off.
-
Koeman, all be it a few years back, you could even throw Bertrand into the mix. A trend has to start somewhere. Next it’ll be JWP, vestergaard, Armstrong, KWP and so on.
-
Biggest troll on here is old @Chapel Endaka @ALWAYS_SFC

Sorry, close football friend. Lets not go down that route of comparing footballers to usual jobs. If your colleague left for a bigger organisation and that company approached you with a pay rise promising a better future, would would go?
-
Not taking the piss here, but people were excusing Adams goal return for being a ‘second striker’. Sounds Like this bloke is another target man type.. is he what we need, if we already have that in Adams? Genuinely have never heard of him so don’t know. Pipedream says Armstrong and Tammy. Realistically I’d like Us to get Eduoard and Armstrong.
-
If a player (JWP in this case) is linked to X club and your current clubs best player (and close friend) joins X club, do you not think that’d make you more inclined to join them as well?
-
Plays for RB though, so people will lap him up. #hipsterclub
-
The shock is in the club he has joined. Clearly.
-
sounds like even the players didn’t know this was coming. I can see a few (JWP etc.) being pretty pissed off with this.
-
Left winger, who’s playing in the 10, I believe. Didn’t watch him last season though, so perhaps he’s been played more centrally?
-
Completely different players. Cantwell is a winger. JWP is a CM.
-
No think that playing with better (world class) players day in day out, naturally improves players then, nah? Also, you do realise they signed him for something like 5m and then sold him for 20….
-
It highlights our inability to compete in this league. But read the context, always was saying how do I know we didn’t do what villa done and try to keep him (I.e matching offer).
-
We offered ings over 100k a week. Wages aren’t / shouldn’t be an issue. Transfer fee and convincing him to join may be however.
