face saver? makes us look amateur considering 'we know everything about a player before he joins', if we don't even know he's injured...
-
I somewhat doubt this, maybe it's just me misunderstanding. So are they saying that he wanted £3m for the rest of the season (about 4 months so roughly £750k a week, clearly not this) or for the length of a permanent deal (lets say 2 year deal, that's about £29k a week). If true, i'm assuming it's the latter, and we can't afford this than maybe we're in a worse financial state than everyone anticipated.

No one is taking money out of the club. Unfortunately in order for Les to get Cortese job, he needed to prove we were spending too much (unsustainable), he could steady the ship (financially) and that we could thrive being a self sustainable club. Up until now we have through good recruitment both managers and in the playing squad, we've also been lucky to have 'a golden generation' of youth talent come through (from what I've heard there's not a great deal left in any of the youth squads). However as I have always said, this is a very high risk strategy and it only takes 2 or 3 bad windows and we'll be well and truly ****ed (next summer is so important to us)! In fairness to Les / Kat we have spent money, it's just that we've made more. Realistically, Kat has no interest in football and it's most likely only the emotional attachment to her father that has kept her here. You can't really blame her for not wanting to invest millions into something she has no passion about. I did pose the question if Kat should sell shortly after our EL campaign and was shot down for it. I appreciate everything she has done for the club (she could have easily sold straight away to any tom d!ck or harry), but whilst she is at the club we're never going to go all out on a player (wages / transfer fee) to push us to the next level.

A bit of both... He said that the club should refund fans, not that they are.

He was out for some time with a serious injury and apparently wouldn't come cheap (apparently wants £100k a week, i assume he'll hold out for China), would imagine this is has put a lot of teams off. We are in a poor position though and IMO don't have much choice, he'll also offer good cover at RB! If we get him now, it should give him enough time to get match fit and ready for the final. Reminds me of when with first came back and we had Gazzaniga and Davies as out goalkeeping options before we brought in Bourc on a free, after the window closed.

Succeeded in getting Kat on board to sack Cortese and therefore basically take his job!
-
I just really hope the club realise that he is not a CF and play him in his best position, coming in from the right wing.
-
IMO would be a sensible move (assuming wages aren't an issue). Not played in months however neither has Sahko so can't imagine this being too much of an issue. Would also provide cover at RB as Martina is absolutely sh!te. to think we are a couple of injuries away from having a back 4 of Martina Stephens Gardos McQueen
-
Well he's played just as much football as sakho this year....
-
martin caceres - free agent, the only option we now have to save our season
-
Couldn't give a **** where they go next season, were desperate now
-
£2m and 100k a week yet it would give us a much better chance of winning a cup
-
11pm getting ever closer, but I'm certain that Les won't let us down, it just won't happen. We will have a CB before the window closes.

 Forum life just isn't for you pal.

Posted this in the match thread, pretty much sums up how I'm feeling. In all honesty, is it any coincidence that we looked better in the second half when we are more positive? Is it any coincidence that our best performances (top 6 away fro home aside as you can't or you'll get hammered) are when we take the game to teams (look at Liverpool home leg....). Why can everyone see this other than the manager? And if he's not setting the team up to play like this, why are they still be selected and why aren't they listening to him? You can understand why people are frustrated. I don't think Puel is a bad manager and I'm desperate for him to do well, but current for and (IMO) tactic selection just isn't good enough.

Yep, generally my feeling. We are such a better team when we take the game to teams (I.e second half), unfortunately just doesn't happen enough.
-
Over to you, Les.
-
Redmonds recent performances deserve a start. Not so good tonight and a step back to what he was before Liverpool home game.
-
Played much better second half, a lot more positive so credit to Puel for that. Unfortunately it was too little too late. Not good enough once again, we are desperate for a new CB and hopefully this Italian will add more creativity that we're currently lacking. Not just Puel, players need to look at themselves as well, but it's the same story nearly every week.
-
Agree.
-
In fairness we at times played quite defensively under RK, however we where direct and quick on the counter, getting men forward and in the box.
-
I'll bite. Just because we have a different opinion to you, it does make us trolls. In fact I'm willing to bet that I've invested more time and £ watching the club I love over the past years and for me, it's disappointing watching us settle for mediocrity.
-
It's sad that some of our fans just accept this, after the last 6 years.
