Every time he does one of those videos telling us how great we are and how we don't need to sell, we end up selling our best player.... I'd rather he didn't do them videos / interviews to be fair!

one too many sherbets I think

So someone who has had a season ticket for 15 years (regularly attended home & away fixtures) but circumstances has since changed likes the glory games? Do me a favour pal. I'm sure if you ask anyone who does away games, they'll tell you that the hardcore who travel away are the most loyal. Not every one can live round the corner.

This. Find it astounding that someone from my group who went to Israel (as well as the other 2 European aways + 2 or 3 domestic aways) is likely miss out as they are at uni out of southampton and struggle to make it home every other weekend. A season ticket holder for many years before this however... Completely understand ST holders getting the nod before members etc... but to completely exclude away games is farcical. For me only way that is fair for everyone is to have a points based system, where you get x points for ST purchase and then home + away games are also worth points..I.e away 2 3 European away home 12early stages of cups. As much as people may not like it, it takes a lot more commitment to travel & watch your team away from home every week.

Do you understand how purchasing away tickets works... The away club will buy x amount of tickets from the home team... If the away club do not sell x amount of said tickets, then they lose the money that they paid for them. In some case (rarely, generally only the big teams) the away club can send the unused tickets back (assuming the home team have capability to re sell those tickets). To say you're only helping other clubs by purchasing away tickets is ridiculous as if we don't buy them, then saints lose out on unsold tickets....

Gallagher is more of a natural goal scorer than long and has done well in the games he has played for us. Would Long have scored the goals that he has in that Blackburn team? I don't know, but suspect not looking at the goals Sam has scored this year. You've said that Long doesn't suit our style, IMO Gallagher does.. for surely that reason alone is enough to replace him?
-
Long did not get us to the cup final, he just happened to be on the end of a counter attack in the final moments of the game (one in which we were 1-0 up on agg anyway). I would say the defense (that day) and poor finishing from L'pool got us to the final. Don't agree that Long never complains, he regualrly throws his hands in the air and wasn't he one of those to stay behind and have a dig at the manager after the WBA game...? If all you're after is someone who won't complain and will always put in a shift then they can sign me for half the wages Long is on. Would say he is a lower table squad player, if we want to push into the top half/top 6 then we need better players than long coming of the bench to make an impact. Ultimately, if Long is happy to sit on the bench and and be used in cup games or if we get injuries then keep him, but I can't see that being the case and I'd rather give Gallagher a chance.

It's a fair point, I guess what I was more referring to in my original post was how younger players such as McQueen and Sims have flourished under him. Personally don't remember any players coming through under Koeman (who hadn't already played under Poch) who performed as well.
-
McQueen 450 minutes (5 games) - Didn't get a look in under Koeman, probably helped by injury to Targett, but looked good when relied on (arsenal FA cup aside) Sims 155 minutes (1.5 games) - Didn't get a look in under Koeman - His performances have been one of the highlights of our season so far. Stephens 300 minutes (3 games) *Thanks Les Reed - IMO not good enough, never will be - again never got a look in under previous managers. Isgrove 0 minutes - Again not good enough, will be gone in the summer. Reed 280 minutes (3 games) - Needs to go out on loan, failed to impress in games he's been given a chance. Hesketh 0 minutes - correct me if i'm wrong but isn't he injured? was given a chance in EFL cup and Europa league. Targett 170 minutes (2 games) - been injured for pretty much the whole season. fail to see your point with the above? if it's a dig, which I suggest it is, you've failed as you've proven that he's given the younger players a go at least.

It was certainly said in jest as I found it funny that someone who has supported the club since a TV show on NBC can call someone who goes week in week out a 'phony' fan. But my point about tourists with iPads, cameras and half and half scarfs does stand. I hate seeing the 'working class man' priced out of the game... Something to get used to I guess.
-
I'm glad you're not on the transfer committee Bamba not fit to lace yoshida's boots, let alone cover for VVD and Tom Ince... Really? this isn't 2013.

In fairness, you've pretty much hit the nail on the head (Although I've found myself coming away from some wins this season not feeling like I used to though). However, I do have to say when you lose it's a little easier to stomach if you have a good go at it and play well... Think Arsenal at the beginning of the season. I don't completely blame Puel for a negative style as at times Koeman was (away from home), however he had players like Mane who would leave you on the edge of your seat. I do feel for Puel as he's been given a tough time of it with Injuries and we've had a sh!t load of games this year... We look a much better team when Boufal is in there and I'd imagine the same will be said about Gabbiadini. However no one can deny that in the main (EFL cup run aside, which as I've said IMO has covered over the cracks) we have been pretty poor this season. I have doubts about Puel and am by no means his biggest fan, however I like what he's done with the younger players (Mcqueen and Sims) and he has improved players (if that's down to him or them getting game time is to be argued). Realistically Les will not sack him, unless we drop into the bottom 3, so I'm happy to give him time and really hope he is backed in the summer transfer window & we get the players HE wants that suit HIS favored formation, and not what Les wants. Time to make a statement Claude as you could potentially go down in Southampton history if we win on 26th.
-
Give PEH time, I think he'll come good. Imo the closest thing we've had to Schneiderlin since he left. Personally think it's Vic we miss more... someone who can sit in front of the back 4 and stop counter attacks. Romeu has done well, but I don't think he's naturally a 'ball winning dm'
-
A place to post all saints related transfer rumours and thoughts on who we should bring in / let go in the summer. Starting it nice an early as it seems transfer talk never stops these days. For me; In CBx2 (assuming VVD will be sold) - Ake would be a decent fit as 1 of the 2 DM (cover / competition for Romeu) - could we push the boat out and go for someone like william carvalho? CM (creative and forward thinking central midfield player) - can't see past Sigurdsson. Forward (someone similar to gabbi who can play all across the front 3 - replacement for Jay) Replacements for any others that leave (excluding martina) Out VVD (£50m starting price - if he wants to stay, reject any bid that comes in) Martina Gardos Harry Reed - Loan to gain experience JWP - loan (won't happen but wouldn't be disappointed for him to go) Clasie (same as above for JWP but would only want to see 1 of them leave) JayRod (cash in whilst he has any sort of value) Long (if a suitable offer came in and we got a replacement wouldn't be that sad if he went) If Puel is les' man then he really needs to back him this summer and get him the players that will suit his style and formation he wants to play.

Made a late decision that I'm gonna go to this one. Last visit to Sunderland was the god awful 1-0 loss in the FA cup a couple of years back (Same day McQueen made his debut I believe). It can't be as bad as that...can it? Have a feeling they'll get 1 but we should have enough to beat them. Hopefully the fact they're at home will play into our hands (sit back and counter attack)
-
I have clarified further down, aprriciate my original post comes across slightly insenstive, wasn't meant that way! Have reworded orginal post to refelect what I meant.
-
Sorry I meant in general. I'd hope that anyone would just move to help the view of others (disabled or elderly)
-
Yep, they have around 5k hardcore who go to every game, home & away. A lot at Wembley will be home crowd where they make no noise.
-
No disrespect mate but a couple of things..... 1) Don't use the word phony, please, I'm begging you. 2) having an opinion doesn't make you any less of a fan. 3) Just so you're aware, we're all scummers. Hence the nickname often used today 'scum army'. Portsmouth are called Skates. On a serious note (not directly aimed at you) a fan like yourself is everything I hate about the PL. It seems we acquired a number of American fans with no affiliation to the club since coming back to the PL, I just pray the same doesn't happen in China. It almost feels like the real fans are forgotten about (pre seasons in USA & China) in order to gain support and revenue in the Far East or USA etc... There's nothing I hate more than tourists with iPads, cameras and half and half scarfs at football.

In an ideal world football grounds would have separate bits for disabled supporters (white hart lane comes to mind). Whilst down here I would recommend that you sit in either the chapel or itchen/kingsland south. Unfortunately you'll never get football fans (especially away) to sit down, it's just part and parcel of going away/having a ticket in the more vocal section of the ground. This isn't just saints, you'll find it's the same at every club. However totally unacceptable for that to be sung/shouted towards you. Can't say I've ever witnessed anything like that at football before and usually fairly well self managed (someone will squeeze up a few seats to aid the view of others)
-
I don't want my club represented on worldwide tv by some dinlos in a hat and red & white face paint covered in as much replica tat as possible. Enjoy your day out, but don't make yourself and your clubs fans look an embarrassment to the world. Leave the replica shirts to the kids and represent the club in full voice on the terraces.
-
If we beat united I think you have to give him credit. (United generally playing well at the moment & Jose doesn't lose finals!). Not sure id blame Puel if we don't win, but I will blame him for poor EL run and below average football in a below average season.
-
How many of palace, Sunderland & Arsenals teams have played in the PL & Europe this year? I can bet you we had more.
-
Squad players who have featured in the EL & PL?
-
Please explain the difference in what you & I have said.... Pathetic.
