I thought he played well, generally did everything he needed to do well. Looked very comfortable on the ball, and bailed Yoshida out once or twice. Wasn't really tested though, so I would stick with him against United to see what he's really made of.
  2. It's really not difficult to understand that if he goes it won't be because of our results. It'll be other factors such as fan dissatisfaction (I would say, from what I've seen on here, twitter and people I've spoken to it's about 60/70% that want him gone), player dissatisfaction and seemingly lack of identity... I'm very much in the camp that I think Puel should go, I'm not convinced Silva is the best man to replace him tho. Emery (assuming he leaves PSG) for me. Would need to break the bank, so to say, to get him though I would suspect.
  3. I never said go toe to toe with them did I? As I said previously, you need to offer something at least in the final 3rd which we didn't. Sitting back and getting men behind the ball is the correct way to play against Liverpool, but to do so, you have to attack with pace on the counter (not just lump long balls up to a striker who's not suited to that). I did watch the game, West Ham were a shambles at the back, like they have been all season. However let's not forget that if it wasn't for a huge slice of luck and excellent goal keeping they could have beaten us 2 or 3 - 0 and we went there for a draw.....

Well it's true so I'd suggest horses mouth.
  6. The fact that people can renew a week before the season at the same price can't help either. I suspect a few are holding off to see who we sale, who takes over and who's manager. What ****s idea was it to have no renewal discount....

Doesn't this generally result in the manager getting the chop a month or so later anyway? I can understand the temptation by Les to keep faith and give Claude the summer to turn things around, probably what he deserves, looking in from the outside, given the season as a whole. However, I suspect if ST sale drop, key first team players express that they are unhappy with him / the current coaching staff in charge, and we don't see a dramatic improvement, going forwards, in the next 3 games, then Les may not be given a choice but to make a change. If it is true that Claude's wife is unsettled and that St Etienne are interested (i'm sure I saw this somewhere), then it is probably for the best that it is a 'mutual consent', therefore both saving face. I like Claude as a person, he seems to generally be a decent bloke and is probably a very good coach / manager, however IMO he is just not suited to us or the Premier League (Serious question, apart from Wenger, have any other french managers been a success in the PL?). Thanks for your service Claude and thanks for nearly winning us a cup, but it's time to go and good luck for the future!
  8. Massive mistake if it's Eisner... Ultimately he's buying Pompey because they're cheap and he sees them as an opportunity to make money... That won't be the case with us.
  9. 2-0 win (Redmond and Tadic) and all the happy clappers will suggest Puel is tactical genius and we've finally clicked up front.

    2017-18 Kit Thread

In fairness, I know many doubt his 'ITK' credentials, however that does tally up with The9 stated earlier in the thread... of course he could have just taken from there... I guess we will wait and see.

Players were unhappy (Tadic & Mane weren't exactly impressed with his hard approach, as well as a number of younger players who felt that they didn't have a chance of getting first team football), however, Koeman got results and kept fans onside with these results. Koeman is a big name, which automatically gets respect from the players, Puel just doesn't have the name and players are similar to fans and aren't particularly impressed with the way (the style) we've played this year. As I've said, believe what you want, it's really no skin off my nose.

It's not made up, but you believe whatever makes you happy.
  14. Of course he will have a say on transfers (both in and out). As will all other board members. Believe it or not, it's not all down to Les.

Why do you find so difficult to understand that the majority aren't complaining about our position in the league or the fact we didn't win a cup... They are unhappy that we are being bored to death, especially at home. A season ticket is a big investment and if you feel like you are not getting your moneys worth, then you are entitled to complain. The majority of players and fans are unhappy with the manager and his style of play / philosophy. As shown by Leicester this year, regardless of what has happened in the past, if the players don't want to play for the manager, he has to go.
  16. I love the aggression in all of your posts, keep it up As for 'the Southampton way', of course it's PR bull****. You'd be stupid to think otherwise, however, as we keep getting told about it, I thought I'd ask the question. I guess the real Southampton way is the way Les see's it. So that's the question.. does he see it as attacking entertaining football football, with the introduction of academy players, or does he see it as a profit making machine who thrive on buying cheap and selling high. I'd say it's probably them both in all honesty.
  17. Care to share? I seem to remember a few things about Clyne which you said, which tallied up with what I was told, so would be interesting to hear what you've heard about this as it seems, based on previous experience, to come from a good source...

Agree, very good shout - the way his teams set up (well at Rayo Vallecano), reminds me of us under poch and he would have a similar impact, IMO. From what i've seen, he'd certainly entertain the fans and get us back to attacking with pace, which is what we're crying out for. Question is, would he come to us? I think he probably would.

    Ranieri?!!!

This is true and it's no coincidence that their form picked up once he went. The reason they were so sh!t this year was because Ranieri started to try and introduce his style... stay well clear,Les, it'd be an awful appointment.
  20. I agree. Obviously the day we went into Admin with points deduction was a dark day, but since Markus saved us, everything has been pretty rosy since. In terms of position of course it's not as bad as being n L1 (we'll maybe not true as we had a very ambitious owner and chairman) however, in terms of enjoyment, performances and value for money it is.

hahahahahahaha, I'll have some of whatever you're on mate. Top 4 of the championship the year after next maybe? You've got to beat teams in the top 6 (or bottom 3) if you want to stand a chance of getting in the top 4 buddy. Honestly, if you believe this, you are seriously in denial. (This could be a sarcastic post, surely it is?!? I didn't bother to read any more after I saw the first sentence.
  22. Have we lost this under Puel or is Puel an example of it (lose quality, replace with cheap unknown and hope to get lucky)?
  23. A few of us flying up early Saturday morning, not expecting much from the game but get a night in Newcastle which should make up for the inevitable sh!te football that will be on offer.

The 2 reason above are the exact reason why you cannot offer absolutely no threat going forwards. We were lucky Liverpool were very very poor otherwise you'd have been saying the same.
