  1. I actually think the players are suffering a hang over from Puel. They are clearly void of all confidence, which is why we tend to play safe and aren't making as many forward passes. It is MP's job to get the best out of them and fill them with confidence, as of yet, he hasn't done that.
  2. You've contradicted yourself in one post. Well done. We could get Pep or Poch in tomorrow... We may improve, but with the squad we have and lack of pace / directness from our front 3, we still would struggle to score goals.
  3. I tend to agree, every time I've seen him, I've thought he was better out wide. Similar to Jay when he was at his best, playing wide left, cutting in onto his right foot. Given our weakness in these area's, if he was to come back, I'd give him a chance.
  4. January will tell us a lot. The manager needs to be heavily backed, which unfortunately means spending money, probably more than you would like to. Another bad window then serious questions need to be asked of Les Reed / Ross Wilson as we will be in deep trouble.

    Boufal

Done more than Tadic and Redmond so on that basis deserves another start.
  6. 10 games in and It’s clear we need some attacking talent. Who & where would you like to see us strengthen in January? 2 direct, quick out and out wingers is a must, IMO.

    puel......

I’d say Everton playing absolutely awful has been key as well.
  8. The only regret should be that despite letting our squad sigfinicantky drop in quality over the last year, there seems to be no scrutiny over Reeds position
  9. It’s the managers job to get the best out of the players he has. Last season Claude didnt.
  10. Yep, look very very good. Shame we didn’t see any of that.
  11. No it’s not. Did you watch the game or specifically see the goal? As one of our better payed players (probably one of the better paid keepers in the league as well) he should be saving, what pretty much everyone agrees is, a routine save. I don’t know if he’s still carrying an injury, but he shouldn’t be playing.
  12. Was going to say it’s the worse I can remember seeing us play, but then I remembered it’s the exact same as it has been for the last 8 months.

    Pellegrino OUT

    Yep, exactly my point

    Pellegrino OUT

If I’m being honest, I think I’d rather Big Sam than Puellegrino, at least you know what you are going to get. He actually got Palace playing some decent football last year. Unfortunately with Reed in charge, it won’t happen. Sack MP, get some cheap replacement from Europe who is the exact same.
  15. Very strong possibility that we could be in a relegation battle this year. Very very poor for some time now. A keeper who is truly dreadful at present. Lack of steel in midfield without Lamina Awful lack of creativity No clear approach / philosophy A manager who appears clueless and just as defensive as the last one. In ability to beat pretty average teams People may not want to hear it but Les has a lot to answer for the majority I’m afraid.
  16. It’s probably because they realise we’ll have nothing to play for by then.... we’ll have been confirmed relegated 2 or 3 games before that
  17. Don’t get it, don’t find it funny, find it a bit cringe and embarrassing and a complete waste of money / time to be honest.
  18. Nope... shaw, Lovren, Jay, Lambert, Morgan and Fonte have all been pretty ****. The correlation between them all is that they were at their peak under poch
  19. I don’t think you appreciate the feel good factor around the club (from playing staff to tea lady) when poch was here. Something that was lost somewhat when he left. I don’t know if he laid the groundwork’s, but he’s was a highly influential manager whilst at saints.
  20. He improves players, stick him charge of United and watch how Rashford for example, goes from good to exceptional... similar to Kane. That won’t happen under Jose.
  21. Kanes career before Poch arrived at Tottenham: 10/11 - 18 apps 3 goals (Leyton Orient in L1) 11/12 - 27 apps 9 goals (Millwall in Championship) 12/13 - 5 apps 0 goals (Norwich in PL) & 15 apps 2 goals (Leicester in Championship) 13/14 - 19 apps 4 goals (Spurs under AVB/Sherwood) Compared to that under Poch: 14/15 - 51 apps 31 goals 15/16 - 50 apps 28 goals 16/17 - 38 apps 35 goals Given his weak record before Poch, you would be forgiven if you questioned if he had what it takes to make it at the top level. Also, given his drastic upturn in form, you could also say that an element of this is perhaps down to Poch? I could also name a number of players at us who he managed to get the best out of.....
  22. Well done, you've just proven my point - Jose (Porto aside which was an amazing achievement, probably on par if Spurs win CL this year), Conte, Pep all won stuff with a superstar squad. How many of those can you say have taken had faith in and improved young talent? Probably only Pep. If you consider budgets should Chelsea not have finished above Tottenham? Lets get things straight, I'm not suggest he is 'great' or that he'll go down in history, all i'm saying is that currently, he is one of the best managers around.
  23. Again, a statistic without any real substance.... where are we pressing? Is this in the oppositions half or on the edge of our box? Under Poch, it was very evident that we would (try) win the ball back very high up the pitch thus having less space needed to attack the opposition goal. Regardless, I don't think pressing is the issue, it's more the pace we attack, which this and last season has been painfully slow making us very easy to play against

    Claude Puel

It's easy to forget that Long scored 15 goals the season before - He is be no means prolific, but given (enough) chances he will take them. I keep seeing this come up, but to me it's clear - We have appointed a manager who is pretty much an exact replica of the one we got rid of.
  25. I do appreciate what you are saying and to go down a 'great/legend' you are probably right, but as it stands in this day and age Poch is currently one of the best. Poch will win stuff, in time. It's being one of the best managers in the world that will land him a job at Real Madrid, where he will win sh!t loads, probably as much as Pep if not more. Pep has managed the biggest clubs in the world, Poch hasn't had that opportunity yet so it is difficult to judge, if i'm honest. IMHO, I believe him and Pep to be very similar managers in terms of style and philosophy ect... What has Pep won since coming to the PL and having one of the largest budgets of all clubs?? Wining trophies is all relevant - are you suggesting that someone like Roberto Di Matteo or Roberto Mancini are better than Poch because they've won more than him (CL and PL respectively)? The reality is Poch is pretty early in his managerial career and I truly believe he will go on to achieve great things (hopefully as England manager). If you were Tottenham, who could you realistically appoint who's better than him? Again IMO, if he was appointed Chelsea / United / Liverpool manager tomorrow, he'd instantly improve them.
