This’ll get some bites. 9/10.

People in general are strange now, it’s not just football. In life there are a section of people who are just desperate to be offended on other people’s behalf by anything and everything.
-
Football is a triable sport, a lot more so than the olympics. For the 90 minutes those in front of you are the enemy. It’s no different to booing, whistling, shouting etc When the other team have the ball, it’s there to try and gain a competitive advantage and put the other team off. Does it work? Probably not. As I said, it’s really not that deep. It’s been happening for years all across the world.
-
Fuck me. Comparing the booing on an anthem to that of the death of someone. You’re Stretching a bit here bud.
-
It’s done all across the globe, not just by the nasty racist England fans. It just done to create a hostile atmosphere, it’s really not that deep. Yet again, the woke offended by every thing on your behalf brigade making a fuss out of nothing 🥱
-
The difference; football is traditionally a sport for the working class cricket and rugby aren’t. I wouldn’t have it any other way and it’s what makes the game great.
-
Because all reports suggest the club are hopeful he’ll sign 😂 Either deceived or stupid
-
True, but he should also have been upfront with the club rather than play them and continue to do so. Especially as he will know his importance to us and that we don’t have a pot to piss in to replace him.
-
Southampton twitter account on fine form this morning it seems 🤦🏻♂️
-
Yet when Adams inconsistencies are challenged, you defend him as being a good ‘second striker’. We didn’t need to rely on Pelle’s goals all season, but he was a good foil for Mane and a very good finisher. Would he be right for us at the moment? Probably not, but at the time he was perfect. He must have been doing something right to have been in a team that recorded 2 of our highest league finishes 🤷🏻♂️
-
Saints fans are idiots though. People used to slaughter Pelle because he didn’t run around at 100 mph every single game. People didn’t realise how good that team were.
-
Or how about we wait and see what he’s about and adapts, rather than wetting our pants over stats. It looks positive, but let’s wait and see.
-
Yep. This is the biggest issue. Even when we had an overweight, injured Austin up top we still had Tadic behind him.
-
LOL, Patrick Bamford had already had multiple, largely unsuccessful, seasons in the Premier league before this one (insert @Turkish Mr Wrong image).
-
Surely not. A few on This forum have been banging on like he’s the new coming of Roberto Carlos and the answer to all our questions.
-
Incredibly arrogant to think a team who struggled to muster up a handful of wins in 20 games, can lose there best 3 players and main source of goals and be on no danger of relegation.
-
Personally I’d prefer Tangana. Offers more versatility and probably a more realistic permanent deal.

Jannik Vestergaard - Official: Signs for Leicester
SKD replied to ChiefScummer's topic in The Saints
I don’t rate Bednerak at all, to be honest. A Yoshida type player. Not good enough to start and should be our 3rd choice cover. It shows how far we’ve regressed in that he’s probably one of the first names on the team sheet. Im not all that bothered by Vestergaard going. He’s had half a good season whilst he’s been here and I think Salisu has more about him. He’d naturally command a higher fee than Bednerak and plays on the left hand side (where Salisu will step in) so wouldn’t be a huge loss. Ideally, we’d shift both and significantly upgrade our right sided CB options. -
Our lack of quality in Midfield / no10 is a real concern. Something I’ve been calling out for a while and something we need to address. Other than S.Armstrong, we lack any real quality behind the striker. Minamino showed small glimpses, but nowhere near enough. Vestergaard going isn’t a huge concern for me, I’d rather we sold and reinvested. I still Think we’re a striker short though.
-
Who knows. None of us have seen him Play or how he’ll Adapt to English football. Signs look positive, but let’s reserve judgement until we actually see him in the flesh. He could be a salisu who looks up to it, or he could be a djenepo who doesn’t.
-
Or because he was playing in a better team with more creativity behind him. Ings was feeding of scraps and we relied on him to pull off some magic to score. Would Watkins have done as well at us, hard to say but I doubt it. Either or, unless we sign someone who can create chances in midfield, Armstrong, adams or whoever we end up with will struggle to score. the trouble is, neither of those mentioned have the ability to create something from nothing as Ings does and what they’ll likely need.
-
Exactly my point. He’s not yet ready to be the main man in replacing Ings. He may get there in the future, but it’s not good for him as much as it’s not good for us for him to be thrown in at the deep end and expecting enough goals to keep us up (baring in mind Ings goals / contribution has effectively kept us up last 2 seasons).
