We’ve progressively reduced the quality within our squad for a number of years now, we’re riddled with debt and losing money season upon season, to the point where we can’t even spend £20m on a player to improve said squad. Last season we won about 3 games in 20, it was that bad I’ve forgotten how many. Those around us are improving and we’re getting worse. We’re heading towards relegation. No leadership from the owner. An owner who wants out; but no one wants to buy us. A number of highly paid players who we’ve had to loan out season upon season and/or get rid for next to nothing. not a dig at those running the club, I think given the circumstances are doing the best they can, with their hands tied behind their back.
-
What are you going on about? When have I said I’m against it? If I was in his shoes (and being a bigger Saints fan than he supposedly is), I’d jump ship at the earliest opportunity... we’re a shambles of a club at the moment and unless taken over sharpish, we’re only going one way.
-
None of those clubs would be a sidewards move. They’re all above us in terms of what they can offer on and off the pitch. All bigger clubs as well. Arsenal and Tottenham, despite a bad season are clearly much, much bigger than us and would be a good move for him. The only thing we can offer than those clubs perhaps couldn’t is closer to his family (although not really the case for the London clubs) and he’s the main man here, by and large the best player. If he doesn’t get a move to a Manchester club, he’ll then look at the likes of Arsenal/ Tottenham. If that doesn’t come off, he’ll look at the likes of Everton (can’t see this due to Liverpool connection) / West Ham. My guess is that he’ll end up at city (late on in the window if they don’t get Kane) or Tottenham (when they sale Kane).
-
He’s been offered a better deal? He’s been offered a huge pay rise which would make him highest paid player at the club. He is apparently very happy with the deal. Money’s not the issue.
-
It’s not ‘utter nonsense’, at all. It’s fairly obvious that he (more so his agent), has been in discussions about a transfer with other clubs. Some very big ‘dream move’ / one big pay day, type clubs. If that was you, especially given his injury record, it’d be in the back of your mind that you may want to just get through the season without injury which may prevent a move to said clubs. Subconsciously you may not give that extra 1% or make that extra run and of course, you’d be thinking I’m too good for this shit when we’re losing game after game. His performance dropped off a cliff when transfer speculation picked up. That’s a fact. It could be down to a number of factors, although seemingly didn’t have issues finding form after injuries previously. Im just pointing out that some of his performances second half of the season were dismal. To me, it came across like he wasn’t arsed. Let’s be honest, if he wanted to be here her have signed a contract.

Are we just going to forget that There was large parts of last season where he was absolutely rubbish and looked completely disinterested, Throwing his hands about, being stroppy? It’s pretty much the reason why he didn’t get into the euro squad.
-
Of course we may not rate him, which is fair enough, but It’ll be such a shame if were ruled out because can’t get 20m together to sign him. Would be a very good replacement for Ings (imo). Generally speaking Brighton’s recent work in the transfer market has been pretty good, if they’re interested, I’d think he’d do a job for us.
-
That’s a terrible example of a bargain, they’re both shit and nowhere near good enough for us, even as back up.

I see the American gymnast, who was favourite, is no longer in a position to win (apparently she’s the messi / Ronald of gymnastics) and has pulled out to concentrate on ‘her mental health’.
-
I’m no Taekwando expert, in fact I know fuck all about it, but I thought that was pretty poor management to get caught there. Surely you’d just stay well away for the last few seconds…

Who’s going to give up playing in the premier league or Championship to receive a relatively small wage and to play / train only with the u23 team. Yes, Lancashire isn’t a great player but he’s not really been signed to be a good player.
-
Another suggestion of a player who is retired 🤦🏻♂️
-
None of these are still playing. They’d be coming in as a coach; which OL isn’t doing. I wouldn’t think too much in to it, Lancashire may be a shit player but he’s experienced making the transition from Kids to men’s football. That’s pretty much his only job, as I understand, he won’t be coaching, more of a mentor and leader in the dressing room. Given u23 teams now compete in men’s competitions, I’m surprised we haven’t seen it sooner. I suspect we’ll see more of these types coming in and eventually a return to reserve football (or even worse, u23 teams joining the Football league).

Agree and the ‘type’ of player were after. Has a touch of Evans to Leicester about it, all be it jones has less recent playing experience. He’d bring experience, leadership and wear his heart on his sleeve. We’ve not had that since Fonte left. Keep him fit, big if, then he’d be a very good addition for us imo.
-
Fonte is 38, Jones is 29. Hardly a golden oldie. Just because he isn’t quiet good enough for United, doesn’t mean he wouldn’t be a good signing for us, especially on a free. Look at Chris Smalling. Considered dead wood, been fantastic at Roma. Injuries are / would be a concern though.
-
You really are a cock, aren’t you. But yes, I already know what Twitter is but thanks for confirming. Graeme Bailey is the ‘source’. Given people seem to wet their pants over tweets about potential transfers from ‘saints extra’, when it’s a positive one, I thought I’d share.
-
Interested in Phil Jones on a free (according to twitter)… People on here wont like to hear that, but I think he’s better than Bednerak and is potentially that leader we’re lacking.
-
I agree, Valery isn’t great. However, he’s much better than Bederak or Stephens at RB. Valery doesn’t suit a back 4, defensively he’s not strong enough, however he’s competent enough as cover, as a wing back in a 5. God forbid we have to change formation, what’s the worse that could happen? I mean, we lost nearly every game from January anyway. To leave yourself as no back up Right Back is absolutely ludicrous and poor judgement from the manager.
-
I still don’t think I’ll ever get over this signing. It’s Actually a bit of comedy show that we had people running the club who thought it’d be a good idea to spend a record fee, on someone who clearly hadn’t been watched, to appease a manager who was clearly a game or 2 from getting the sack. The others, you can sort of forgive (other than perhaps Hodet who again was massively out of his depth). Amazing that Ross Wilson has gone on and done an alright job with Rangers, really. Perhaps finding that championship level player is his limit.
-
That and ECB / County cricket unwillingness to franchise T20 is Pretty much exactly what it is. As it happens, I think it’ll be a relative success in this country, can’t see it becoming Global, though.
-
With great power comes great responsibility.
-
Whilst maybe he can influence budget for incomings. Loaning out our back up RB when we had no one to replace him, was 100% Ralph’s fault though and it bite us on the arse, hard.
-
You’re the most patronising and ignorant poster on here. Unwilling to listen or try and understand others point of view. It’s your way or the ‘incorrect’ way. At least TWar has a degree of intelligence about him, all I see if you calling people petty names.
-
In which case, if a top team is interest, they’d only sit on the bench anyway.
-
I don’t disagree, I’m just saying how badly our scouting team has regressed. Im sure there is a new Toby or VVD (whilst at us, not the Liverpool VVD) out there at an affordable price I wouldn’t trust us to find him though.
