I agree with this. Whilst the first 11 may be weaker, we have added more depth overall, which was a big issue last season. Ox and an upgrade for Bednerak at CB, I’d say our first team is then stronger.

It does. You clearly have absolutely no idea how football works if you think one CEO calls another to lodge a bid before consulting the players representatives. All of these deals are done via agents and talks are carried out way in advance of bids to understand feasibility etc. I would not be at all surprised if, in this case, JWP’s agent reached out to a Villa rep, rather than the other way round. That’s not to say James has had discussions, but certainly his representatives would have. Now, I know you’ll just claim I’m clueless etc. As you seemingly are unable to hold a convo without throwing personal insults (you would have thought you’d learn after getting your old account banned for that exact reason), so please see exhibit A, where it happened to one of our players earlier this summer….

Interesting. Che is a bit of a beast and a very strong lad. I think many had doubts about JWP physicality (pre Ralph), but has improved his aggression. As many have said, he’s not going to be a target man and as long as he has a bit of pace, he’ll be fine.

a short video of him preseason against Bournemouth. Still looks a little raw, but quick, direct and strong. Seems to have a habit of being in the right place at the right time. Will certainly offer more than Long. A loan is pretty low risk, so a good deal all round in this one.

You’ve answered your own question. The fact we need more than 1 striker (and other positions) and if Armstrong signs, we won’t have any more (or very limited) funds for a permanent deal…. Im not knocking the signing, looks good. Just saying why we might only take him on loan with no option.

Yes it is. Messi is a phenomenal player who makes up his lack of physicality in other aspects of his game. For example his skill and ball control. Look at Iniesta and Xavi, both vertically challenged, but 2 of the best CM’s in the game. Where as Jordy Clasie / Harrison Reed who didn’t have the same level of skill, lacked the physicality. That being said, I do I tend to agree that in the role he’ll likely play for saints, you don’t need to be all that tall, however he’ll need strength to hold the ball up and beat a man if he’s going to have a similar role to ings.
