When did Austin say he didn't play because he wasn't working hard? The only thing I've ever heard him say on this topic is that it took him a long time to finally get into the squad. I took that as it took him a while to convince MP that he should play ahead of the other strikers.

McCarthy Cedric Stephens Yoshida Bertrand Tadic Romeu Davis Boufal Long Austin

Interesting comments by Hughes on some players being much better in practice, and the fact that moving forward he needs to focus on the guys he will be able to rely on in matches. At every level of sport you do see this, guys who look great in practice but crack in games. Any ideas on who? I've got to believe Lemina and Hoedt are two. Plus the fact that he yanked Gabbi at the half for Long I think puts him on the list too. http://readsouthampton.com/2018/04/01/hughes-to-look-towards-players-he-can-rely-on/

Clutching at straws but at least other results aren't too bad!

I honestly think Huddersfield will not win another match. If we can get just 5 or 6 pts from our remaining matches we should pass them. Stoke seem to have given up, thank god. -
Agree with this 100%. Outside of Long and Austin, the only two that were testing mighty WHU, the team was crap.
-
Yep, JRod plays all kind of minutes yet only has 5 goals. I'd of course take Austin, and also take Gabbi over him every time.
-
Agree with this. our CB's are a mess, really not close to PL standard.
-
I've got nothing. That was not only our worst display, but also one of the worst football displays from any squad, I've seen in a long time

Its like watching a childrens match. Kids just getting to the ball and kicking it forward.
-
This is most inept defensive effort I have ever seen
-
We can't even connect 2 passes together around midfield. we're just giving it right to WH.
-
I'm really struggling to see what value Redmond brings. He strikes me as player who looks good in practice but does nothing in a match.
-
I blame Stephens and Hoedt for the second. Hoedt played a terrible ball to Hoj, and Stephens just watched the ball go around him in the air.

Our defense sucks

Slow start for us

Wow, MP would never have done that. He'd play Carrillo in a 4-5-1 all game and then bring in Austin for at the 80 minute mark, of course leading to a 0-0 tie. I like this team out there a lot, the only change I would have is Boufal for Redmond.

and our nads are already swollen from being kicked so much

Austin and Gabbi upfront for me, although he may start with Gabbi and Carrillo first, then bring Austin on after a 0-0 half. McCarthy Cedric Stephens Yoshida Bertrand Boufal Lemina Hojberg Tadic Austin Gabbi

Neither of his two injures over the past two seasons have been knee related. One was his shoulder and one a hamstring. This "knee ligament" thing is a myth at this point. In my opinion its concerning, but could turn out to be just bad luck. I believe he was healthy most of the time at QPR.

I believe if Hughes keeps us up, and the players like him, then he will stay

Pretty good video. Seems pumped about the new manager.

Two games against Chelsea, which is more important?

I'm of the mindset that all that really matters now is the league, and staying up -
Both can work, it depends on the players and their strengths. With our midfield, and their lack of scoring/attacking mentality, I prefer a 2 or 3 upfront scenario. This gets two strikers on, lets say Gabbi and Austin, to give us more push. I think our midfield is made up of much more of a defensive, ball control, type player. If we had ore attacking mids, lets say mike Mane again, then 1 up top would work.
-
Agree. Once Austin is back in 2 weeks, I don't think it should be a given that Carrillo even gets on the bench. I like Sims and Long better
-
I thought we kept pushing after the score, until we too Gabbi out for Romeu. That seemed to be the signal to back it up
