  1. I think he moves on too, however I think he could make a good pairing with Austin. He holds the ball up well, and can play off of Austins shoulder.
  2. One thing I like about Hughes is that unlike MP, he looked at our players and built a plan around them (not the opposite). He made a system that fit, he didn't ask the players to fit into a system. It only took him a match or so and he had us going three at the back, was playing Long more at outside mid/attacker than upfront, stuck Hojbjerg in the middle, starting bringing Gabbi in alongside Austin (they are a good pair in my opinion), etc.
  3. In Hughes post match statements, he did say that he was planning on taking off one of the CB's in a close match because he felt they had to win. He said that the injury forced his hand about 5 minutes earlier than he would have likely made the switch, but that he was planning on it anyway.
  4. Agree its not. However I do think this will be one of those moments that people will be recalling 20 years from now. Between the Marriott cancellation, the cops not showing up to guide the bus, the Swansea staff trying to make the team wait on the bus for 1/2 hour (and Hughes marching the team off the bus anyway), and then of course the 1-0 victory, I bet people will be recalling the time the Saints (and their supporters) beat all of Wales back to stay in the PL.
  5. Over the last 4 matches, which is the run-in to avoid relegation, only 4 teams have scored more points than us. That includes getting royally screwed out of 2 pts at Everton. What more can any manager so than Hughes did?
  6. Agree. Even in the tough matches we didn't get points, like Chelsea and Arsenal, we were competitive. With any luck we could have gotten points there too. Still 8 pts in the final 4 matches, with 3 of them away, is a remarkable run considering our form with MP.
  7. The Stoke site is funny, but the Swansea site is a riot. Total throat slitting mode.
  8. The Swansea and Stoke fan boards are a riot. Swansea is in throat slitting mode. Stoke is pretty funny. Comments such as "Hughes keeps up a team full of players he wanted, shocker", and lamenting that they never gave Hughes players like Tadic, Gabbi, Austin, Bertrand, McCarthy, Redmond, and Cedric when he was there". I guess the grass is always greener, but they seem envious of the Saints players.
  9. Loved the way that he realized we needed more attacking players and took out Bednarek.
  10. Park the bus and hold them to 4 goals per half.
  11. and thats why 150 will get you only 151 back at Ladbrokes.
  12. 8 pts in the final 4 matches, 3 were away. Plus strong efforts vs Chelsea and Arsenal before that. Plus he rips the Everton refs, he rips the Swansea Marriott, and he marches his team off the bus pushing Stewards out the of the way. Plus the team played a game full of passion and effort, and won solely on heart and desire. The guy deserves the job.
  13. Sign Hughes #1.
  14. Agreed, Hughes showing balls and going for it was huge. MP never would have won that.
  15. 8 pts in the final 4 matches, 3 were away.
  16. They played their butts off. They won that on heart. Hughes has to stay.
  17. I think there has been a huge amount of energy out out by both teams. Very tense game. They've had the ball more, but we've had the better shots on goal.
  18. Ha ha, Hughes took out two Stewards on the way. Love it
  19. Redmond starting. Feel an Austin brace coming on.
  20. Screw Swansea, cheating bastards
  21. Under my covers, watching between my fingers.
  22. All I know is if we have a 1 goal lead at the 80th minute I will probably get sick. I'm terrified (rightfully so) by our CB's late in matches.
  23. Our best chance is to find that green Time Infinity Stone, and turn time back to December so we can fire MP sooner.
  24. I think he has already explained it pretty clearly.
