Yes -- belated but enthusiastic thanks Steve for the new look. I love it

Ralph was taking advantage of the empty stadium by shouting out advice and instructions to players during the game, which they could hear more clearly than when there's a roaring crowd. Farke wasn't (or at least not to the same extent)

May I bring the thread back to injuries? Or the lack of them. Apparently we are one of only two Premier League clubs not to have suffered any additional injuries during the "ludicrous" Xmas/New Year pileup of fixtures. The other is Everton. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-7857263/Premier-League-managers-count-cost-hectic-festive-fixture-list-injuries-mount.html

Oh dear, this thread does not portend peace and harmony among Saints fans in 2020.

He has defence-terrifying speed and energy that would be amazing at any age and certainly is at his (33 next month). Defenders would far rather face Adams than Long

Mateo Kovacic will be suspended because he has just got his fifth yellow of the season against Spurs
-
Totally agree. If Ings feels he's fit to play both games and our medical staff agree, it would be mad to drop him for Chelsea

Very true. There's surprisingly little muttering about this on the Fighting Cock. And it wasn't mentioned on MoTD

I can't find the stats to back up what I'm about to say, but I think that when a lesser club like Crystal Palace has a convincing cup win against a greater one like Spurs, it does not give them winning momentum. On the contrary, it makes them more likely to lose their next league game. Hope so anyway

They already lost two games in December: Chelsea and then Palace. No reason why we can't make it a third.

He can have a hug from me whenever he wants. And I'm not mad

Gorgeous weather for this evening. Clear with a south-easterly breeze.

Was that the season we beat WHam 1-0 at Upton Park after our coach was so delayed by traffic that we barely made the kick-off? I haven't checked but I remember Beattie scored late after a brilliant cross from Brett O But perhaps we've never won at home on a Monday night

Ings will get 14 league goals this season and Salah 13
-
Betfair odds: Saints to win 1.86, Burnley 5.4. Presumably punters are factoring in Burnley's only getting back on Friday from a (hopefully) gruelling trip to Turkey

I was trying to work that out too. I think they'll arrange the fixtures so that everyone gets a two week break. The first weekend in Feb 2020 is Sat1/Sun 2. So half the PL teams will play then and have their next games on Sat 15/ Sun 16. The other half will play on Sat 8/ Sun 9 but they will have played last on the Jan 25/26 weekend, so they'll get the fortnight off too. Make sense?

Wow I hope Charlie has a well tuned sense of irony if he reads all of this. One or two posters seem not to...
