Same starting XI for us, they have Carroll on the bench :/
-
Is that biologically possible?
-
Very true, he hardly missed a game last season due to minor injuries... only about 14 or so. That is practically no time at all if you compare it to the length of time football has been played.
-
I really hate these players.

Are they moving Kelvin Davis upstairs now he's had a successful spell as a coach? -
The players try playing for the first few games of the season but when things start going against them they down tools and blame the manager. He'll get the boot and then they'll try to play for the new man until then end of the season so they can shift the blame onto the bloke they got sacked. It's happened with every manager since Puel got the sack and will probably continue to do so as long as we have this bunch of spineless tossers playing for us.
-
I hate every member of the playing squad, I wish we could sack the lot of them. Bunch of spineless, useless, fragile bottlers.
-
More down to the players being totally useless in my opinion.

It's time back to the WM formation: ----------McCarthy--------- Valery-----Yoshida------Cedric ----Danso--------Romeu---- ----Boufal--------Redmond Long-------Ings------Adams

I think it mostly depends upon whether the players care about trying to win games. It genuinely looks as if most of them genuinely don't give a toss about being humiliated on a football pitch. The majority of the group seem toxic and weak-willed with no desire to fight for the team or to hold any pride in being 'professional' sportsmen who look to push themselves to do their best. Combined with a general lack of talent in the squad I think it would take a small miracle for us to turn this around.

Needs to work on scuffing his shots more. Have yet to see him manage to scuff even one this year but last season he was scuffing shots in all the time for Brum.

Corbyn is a honest man with principles, but he's also blinded by his ideals and this makes him a stubborn fool. Boris is a selfish toad who is about as trustworthy as a condom made out of perforated tissue paper. Anyone who believes that he actually wants to leave with a deal is completely ignoring that if we do, all of his wealthy allies will be forced to disclose their tax avoidance methods under the financial scrutiny acts passed by Europe that kick in next year. This will lose him a lot of his support in his party. At the moment, he's doing everything he can to try to force a no deal, then blame parliament by saying his withdrawal agreement would have prevented it. This way he can deflect the blame for the resulting chaos onto the opposition for not voting his clearly wonky legislation through.

Moi's never really going to suit a fast paced pressing/counterattacking team. Ironically, he'd probably been OK in a Pellegrino team that was based around slow buildup and holding possession around the edge of the opposition area.

Great defending by Saints! What a team we have!!!

We should start a petition to get Glasgow-berg the gig. His posting history shows that he's an expert in the field. -
We'll probably just have to loan out our entire squad on half wages then get another team in on the cheap- I doubt anyone would pay anything for any of the w*nkers we have in the team.
-
Cahill would have been a big improvement on what we have. Doubt we could have competed with whatever he's getting paid at Palace, though.
-
Yeah, Brighton outplayed us for long stretches of the match and we did very well to take three points from them. In fact, both of our league wins have been against teams that played at least as well as we did and could easily have gone the other way.
-
They came after us and dominated the game when they had 11 men. Even when they were down to 10 they attacked. They definitely didn't sit back and defend, and we scored on the break.
-
Our play pretty much focuses on counterattacking when our opponents leave space and our players seem lost if they are asked to do anything else. I can't remember the last time we beat an organised team that sat back and defended deep.
-
Good point well made! I have no idea what I was thinking of, it would be better to play Adams at right back and Danso on the left.

What's your best saints XI using players since our PL return

This but swap Romeu in for Davis and Fonte in for Lovren. -
Going by Ralph's recent experiments, I can see him trying out Long as a front sweeper. He's quick so can cover the space in front of the whole defence, and good in the air so he can help out there as well. Maybe try Vestergaard up top as a target man while we're at it? Possibly Hojbjerg in goal, too? He's quite tall and his goal kicks would probably be about as effective as his forward passing usually is from midfield. --------------Hojbjerg--------------- Valery--Bednarek---Yoshida--Bertrand >>>>>>>>>>>> --------JWP-----------Romeu-------- -------------Redmond--------------- ----Vestergaard-------Ings---------- This cunning plan would completely subvert Lampard's expectations. 2-0 to us.

I disagree that we would have done no worse with a back 4 last season. Every time we tried to play with one we were absolutely dreadful. I think that we only managed to win 2 games in total with a back 4 all season and lost more than we drew. With a back 3 we were far better. This season we seem to be equally bad with either a back 4 or 3, although part of that has been due to the manager trying to shoe-horn players into the team out of position. -
Another dodgy defensive lineup and poor use of subs. Keeper is very dodgy as well. Big chance for at least a point missed today.
