  1. Stewart is being saved for his 120th minute sub appearance at Wembley so that he can score the winning penalty in the shootout. They can't risk him having any physical contact before then as they know he is as fragile as a Ming vase. Hopefully, he'll only be doing non contact training, practising his penalties. They should put Bazunu in goal for that as he can't run out and trip him up.
  2. Well, certainly in terms of buying the Northam season tickets, it looks like fans have responded extremely well. We should see much improved home support next season.
  3. It's proving remarkably popular. Only a few hundred places left, and this season isn't even over yet. This must be a record for season ticket sales in the Northam or any end Southampton has ever had in its history.
  4. Football fans are football fans, whichever club they support. How they react depends on results.
  5. I remember when we fielded a weakened side in our last league game v Arsenal before we played them in the FA Cup Final. We got thrashed and the confidence was well and truly knocked out of the team so that in the final it looked like we were just trying to avoid another heavy defeat. The danger is that if we get thrashed by Leeds, our chances of beating them in the play-off final, if we reach it, will be reduced.
  6. The Northam season tickets have sold very well. There are only a few hundred standing places left in Blocks 40-45. Block 46, in the corner, is less popular but there need to be a few places left for individual matchday sales anyway.
  7. I remember at the time Russell Martin was leaving you, reading a message on a Swansea forum saying, "Now we can get rid of our sh!t goalkeepers."
  8. Is there a table for shots on target faced? If so, I'd expect it to show that the problem is the lack of shots saved by our goalkeepers rather than the number of shots on target allowed by our defence.
  9. It's scheduled to be ready for next season. Presumably, it will be trialled in a pre-season friendly first. There are safety procedures to be adhered to so it won't be rushed.
  10. In that case, he could be here for years, like McCarthy.
  11. To be fair, we know he is afraid of getting hit by the ball so he did well to avoid it there.
  12. I don't think season tickets will be sold in the home seating sections adjacent to the away section. Those sections will probably also be unavailable until other sections have sold out for individual matchday sales too. They'll essentially be used for segregation/overflow. At least having empty seats for segregation in the corner will look better than having them directly behind the goal in full view of the TV cameras. Any fans who want season tickets as near as possible to the away section will either end up behind the goal in the middle of the Chapel or in expensive seats in the middle of the Kingsland. They'll be seen and heard more clearly by them if they stay in the Northam.
  13. Interesting to see what Swansea fans had to say just over a year ago: "Martin is broken, players broken and fans broken." "He may have the support of the owners but with very little support from the fanbase it's creating a toxic atmosphere & it'll only get worse. I'll be renewing my season ticket but in the hope of seeing a different manager in charge next season. This shambles has to end." Forum | Russell Martin reassured he has the full support of the majority owners at Swans by SwansIndependent | Swansea Independent (fansnetwork.co.uk)
  14. Russell doesn't do defence. His teams always ship loads of goals.
  15. Alex McCarthy is a fine example to them all. No matter how useless you are, Southampton Football Club will take care of you and pay you much more than any other club would. If Carlos Kaiser were starting out today, this would have been the ideal club for him. I had a 26-year football career in Brazil, France, Mexico and USA but never kicked a ball and instead slept with 1000 women | talkSPORT
  16. Ross Stewart was bought very much for the Championship. He'll be 28 this summer and he's spent most of his career in lower leagues in Scotland and League One so it's unlikely he'll be good enough to score goals in the Premier League. If we do get promoted, we're going to need new strikers and, of course, goalkeepers, or we'll be coming straight back down again. Ross Stewart - Player profile 23/24 | Transfermarkt
  17. You do talk some rubbish. You've already made it clear in more than a thousand posts that you don't like the idea of us having a proper home end again. It's getting tedious now.
  18. In the 60s and early 70s, our home end was unequivocally the Milton. Unfortunately, neither end had a roof over it, so the acoustics were not great. At most other grounds, the home end was the covered end and the uncovered end was the away end. In those days we dreamed of having a big covered end such as we now have in the Northam. That was the reason for the initial move of some of our singers under the West Stand, which because it had a roof, had much better acoustics. So, by the late 70s, there were some singers left in the Milton and another group under the West Stand. But, as you can see from the pictures of the Channon Testimonial, in 1976 the Milton was still very much our home end.
  19. He'll have his Europa League medal to collect long before that.
  20. Some people just need their imaginary problems so they have something to moan about. Imagine the whingefest the nimbies must have had when we moved from the Dell to St Mary's and everyone had to change their seats and their routes to the ground. How did we ever manage to get through that?
  21. They are.
  22. Have you ever walked to and from the station? Home and away fans mingle all the way. The new setup will be easier to police.
  23. It's only a few nimbies. The improvement in home support this new setup will bring is bound to upset them. They won't be able to whinge about how poor the home atmosphere is any more. One of them has posted about a thousand times on here because he wants to gawk at the away fans but doesn't want any vocal Saints fans near him. Maybe he can get a special needs seat in the away section as he loves the away fans and hates Saints fans so much.
  24. Even though we've got the 3 worst goalkeepers in the Championship, we keep hoping that one of the other two isn't quite as bad as the one currently playing but it's probably just wishful thinking.
  25. The move from the Dell to St Mary's meant that everyone changed seats. We got over it, no problem. So have other clubs' fans, more recently, like Spurs. Plenty of clubs have moved their away section to a different part of the stadium, too, like Leeds. They're happy now that they did. If we get promoted, the demand for seats and standing places at St Mary's will be greater than ever. Even if we don't get promoted, there will be no problem filling the stadium next season, in spite of some fans having to move. Let's support the Club on this. This new setup is the one we should have had in the first place.
