  1. Nothing on the Watford site either. Could it be that Saints and Watford don't have the same money to spend on their media relations as Chelsea do?
  2. Bugger. I was really hoping this story wasn't going to be true. I guess Rodgers Chelsea connections did it. We really are screwed now. I don't suppose we could offer Jan's job to the Man U reserve team boss?
  3. You can still be right and be a wind up merchant - Bailey does seem positively gleeful in his "Cork is leaving" posts.
  4. Wind up merchant? (Bailey rather than team-saint) The Cork to Watford rumour only seems to exist on this site and seems rather unlikely following the Hoyte loan move.
  5. Watford doesn't seem likely now they've just got Hoyte on loan from the Arse.
  6. Any source - or just gut feeling?
  7. Still wish we'd sign a big arse centre back and a right back though!
  8. I think Smith could yet prove a decent signing - saw him playing for the Arse back in the day and he definetely had potential then and he's shown flashes of what he's capable of for us. A free signing for 6 months on Millwall reserve wages seems worth a punt to me. Cover at leftback seems sensible to me - especially as Skacel is one of the more salable assests who I wouldn't be devestated if we sold. The way I look at it Surman, Lallana, Davis and Skacel are the most likely to attract offers and out of that lot I'd much rather sell Rudi.
  9. Bugger. If we don't hang on to Cork we're totally screwed. Anyone got an inside line on whether Killer will ever play again?
  10. A bunch of Saints payers playing for the shop window against Man Ure reserves looking to just get back in the nice warm dressing room. If we have the right attitude - and more importantly Man Ure has the wrong attitude - we might scrape a draw. But bugger that a Saints win is the only thing I could ever hope for. 2-1 Saints.
  11. What worries me is that if he is 'for sale' practically every championship side knows how good he is and has more money. I reckon or best hope is that Chelsea are in two minds about him and want to hang on to him for the rest of the season - leaving him on loan at Saints of course!
  12. Talk about football fine. That means talking about how we're now stripped of another option up front and we need to haw about for a new striker loan deal (probably). That's a million miles from trying to turn a tradegy into ammunition in a war against Lowe.
  13. Flipping hades. Can't you let anything pass without seeing it as an opportunity for a dig at Lowe? This is a genuine tradegy for Mr Mohamed's family and yet you're obsession turns it into a way of scoring points in your petty little one sided war of words with Lowe. My deepest sympathy goes to those touched by these events. My deepest contempt goes to those who would subvert them for their own agenda.
  14. He divides the fans and should go for that alone. Having said that I think Crouch's return would be a mistake and we need a clean break for Crouch and for the club and I can't see any other options at the moment. Why are there never any billionaire's around when you need them?
  15. Surely that means the players were at fault for not playing in the 4-3-3 system like thet were supposed to and were instead hanging back to make it 4-5-1? In which case 5 players is hardly a tiny midfield? Or did you just mean they're all a bit height disadvantaged? Either way that's a fault of the players (and their parents for not making sure they ate their greens) rather than a fault of the formataion. We really do need to get over this 4-4-2 obsession. As pointed out eloquently above our problem isn't the formation but the apparent inability of the players to score in a brothel.
  16. A very good article and one that's fair on Poortvliet while being damning of Lowe. An approach that I wish a few more posters on here would take!
  17. Without investment replacing Lowe would achieve nothing unless you honestly believe that some 15,000 odd people are boycotting Saint Mary's just because he's in charge. My guess is that his departure would maybe see a couple of hundred people attend the next home game who otherwise wouldn't have done, and just maybe a couple of dozen of them might attend the game after that. When you consider the cost and upheaval of changing chairman I'm not exactly sure it's worth it.
  18. Sounds like someone at the Mirror adding two and two together and getting five. It wouldn't surprise me if we sell Surman and Lallana and sadly about 3 million the pair sounds about right, but that doesn't mean I have any belief in this story.
  19. Couldn't put it better.
  20. We lost to a team that has beaten Fulham, Chelsea and Arsenal this season. And people are reacting as though this is the final straw? Wenger couldn't get a bunch of kids, who are far better than our lot, to beat Burnley at home. So because Jan couldn't get our bunch of kids to beat them either he's for the chop? With the players available I think Wenger would be hard pressed to keep us up, but he probably would although he wouldn't have got a win at Burnley. He is a better manager that Poortvliet, and should he express a desire to leave Arsenal and come to Southampton I would welcome him with open arms. But until he does that let's stick with what we've got because with the players at his disposal Jan is doing an 'okay' job and I really don't think we're in a position to attract anybody better.
  21. At the start of the season I thought that realistically we would be in a relegation scrap - one that we are far worse equipped to deal with than last season. So far it's pretty much as expected although I had hoped that we would have scored more goals (and feared we would concede more). I still think that if Jan can get anywhere close to keeping us up with what is basically last season's youth team (which wasn't a vintage year) along with a few loans and cast offs then the guy is a miracle worker. And just maybe the legend of Nigel 'luckily kept us up on the last day of the season with a much stronger squad' Pearson will be laid to rest.
  22. As far as I know there are perhaps 2 posters who could be described as 'Lowe luvvies' (Scooby and Sundance). I'm pretty sure they are both just wind up merchants so who are these Lowe Luvvies of which you speak? Lowe out (as soon as a viable alternative is available - administration is not a viable alternative)
  23. Hang on - weren't the same people who are now moaning about Lowe being at the match the same people who were complaining he wasn't at the match last away game? I could be wrong, all this aimless hate speech just rolls into one after a while...
  24. Plus half the time when the ball does come in there's no one there to recieve it
  25. I have to agree with the posters who've raised the lack of real wide men. The sooner Holems gets back from injury the better, and the sooner Jan puts a proper winger down the right instead of Lallana (good player but not a wide man) the better. Thomson or James down that right hand side for me. Maybe push Surman back to left back and give Rudi a chance at left wing until Holmes is fit?
