I think both Hammond and Lambert are suffering from playing in an unsettled disspirited team. It's going to take more time for the new players to get used to each other and for the old players to escape the losing mentality that plagued last season. We're still effectively in 'pre-season'. However that excuse is wearing thin and we must get it together by the Yeovil game.

The most shocking saints gift you've been given?

As a 8 year old kid really wanting a Saints shirt before the days when you could really get replica kits. Folks got me a generic yellow kit and told me it was the away kit. I thought it was the best present ever until some kind child pointed out to me that it wasn't the proper kit. Ungrateful brat that I was I threw a right strop. Sorry folks. -
And acccording to FM he's match fit as well

What do you think is the number one reason why......

We do seem as fans to be expecting failure and this has to be felt by the players on the pitch. We seem to get the stuffing knocked out of us even more quickly than the players. I think the lack of decent songs is partly to blame. OWTS gets exhausted after the first half an hour or so and after that it's the generics and then the anti-Pompey songs. Nothing wrong with the odd chorus of 'When I was a little boy' but when the Northam's response to us conceding is to sing about kicking a Pompey fan's head in what sort of message does that send to the players? In terms of songs about the players we have "Super Kelvin Davis" and that's it. I miss the days of "Same old Beattie", "We've got Brett Omerod" and even "Rory Delap [clap clap]" -
Great signing on paper. I wonder what his grasp of the English language is like? Anyone know whether his quote to the Echo was via an interpreter?
-
Fantastic - about time we got oursleves a decent new song, and at least the Northam know the tune to this one!

Live Deadline Day Transfer Rumours from Daily Echo

Thank god there's only 5 minutes left of this non-event. -
The BBC blogger seems quite pathetically keen to say that Man Ure fans aren't really that bad. I suspect a Man U fan in denial. Sorry mate but which ever way you spin it they are exactly as bad as the figures suggest.

That explains why mine suddenly started working Is it just me or are the only players I hear doing anything useful are Lambert, Mellis and Harding? Pardew's going to have to buy a whole new team by the sounds of it. -

Gah Saints player just not working every time I can't listen we lose -
It's just the homepage that's gone from Gecko's site which is good since his shirt and badge histories are still there and very useful http://www.geckosaint.com/kithistory.htm http://www.geckosaint.com/badges.htm If he's not going to maintain them do you reckon we could get them hosted on SaintsWeb?

It seems bizarre that Holmes isn't in the squad. With Mills injured he's our only natural left winger, you would have thought he'd at least be on the bench as an option.
-
All history. The one thing I will say is that JP was a better player than anyone reading this forum (unless MLT is lurking somewhere) and will always deserve respect for that.
-
No wonder you don't see it around much! I wish - never even seen one outside of the odd picture.
-
You're expecting one of the 'big four' © Sky Sports to loan us a first team box to box midfielder? Methinks you ask a little too much. It's true that such loans are a bit hit and miss. But Cork did well for us, as did Potter before.

I wonder whether they're hanging back because a double unveiling is in the offing?
-
Watching the videos he mostly plays attacking central midefield for Chelsea reserves with the odd cameo appearence on the right wing. I reckon he'll be central midfield for us.
-
Quite literally the only way is up! (unless a side on zero points goes into administration ine the next 24 hours and then wins on Saturday while we lose, in which case we could drop a place tomorrow)
-
Watching that it looks like he plays mostly in a central attacking midfield position. We've not really had anyone in the role in the two games to date with Schneiderlin being more of a playmaker and Wotton being the bruiser. I think it's a role that Lallana should be playing but his versatility seems him stuck out on the wings.

Competition for Thomson or Lancashire
-
Misses as many as he scores? You mean he should have scored eight goals already this season in two matches rather than just four? You're right we don't want any player like that

ifooty is remarkably similar to the BBC http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/southampton/8200187.stm

Agreed, I thought Vignal was one of our better players that dreadful season. Mind you he didn't have much competition!
-
I knew I should have mugged that bloke at Loftus Road to get the '87 white kit - never seen it before or since
-
Speaking of memorabilia does anyone have an '87 third kit (White Hummel with Draper Tools over 2 lines) or an '89 third kit (Yellow Hummel with DRAPER in a black rectangle)? They remain the holes in my shirt collection (yes I amd very sad). I'm not even sure they were ever available - never seen the '89 kit but saw someone wearing the '87 one at QPR a couple of years ago so there's at least one of them out there. http://www.geckosaint.com/kithistory.htm
