I work with a couple of smoggies. The talk is all about Strachan, so it won't be him then

Someone deserved a kicking because they wouldn't run away from the mighty saints fans? So it's perfectly okay to give anyone a beating if they don't run away from you. You really are a retarded throwback to a darker time, I hope you were one of those involved so that you can get caught and receive a lifetime ban from Saint Marys.

Having a row with a few like minded individuals? WTF are you on about you neaderthal? From the sound of the report 2 blokes had the **** kicked out of them by a much larger group of Saints 'fans'. To use your fellow low brow's own analogy if you have a barney on the way honme from a pub you might indeed give someone a slap. You might even have a full on barney. What no civilized person would do is gather a large group of cronies and "kicked and punched the victims to the ground, where they were then repeatedly kicked and stamped on" Attitudes like yours make me ashamed.

James is turning into one of those 'love to hate' players on here - a la Wright, Telfer, and Delap (oddly enough all central midfielders asked to play at right back). Personally I rate him and, although yes he has no pace and is a touch naive defensively, I think he's an important squad player. One of those players who don't necessarily do anything notable but the team's better with him in. Murty needs to displace him on merit, not just because he's Murty.

Seconded. I was so disgusted with what we had been reduced to I left midway through the second half, the first and only time I have ever left before the final whistle. [edit: Thirded even, must read entire thread before replying...]

Their average away following last season was just 624 so can't see them needing many more than 550 Ours was 1186.8 - pretty poor for the Championship, but it was a dreadful year and we aren't exactly central. It will be interesting to see if that goes up this season.

A minor aside but I wouldn't exactly call Αnorthosis Famagusta minor. They are Champions league regulars and reached the group stages last year which is no mean feat. Ranked by Uefa higher than for example Genoa, Napoli, Hearts, Borussia Dortmund, Brondby, Grasshoppers Zürich, Dinamo Zagreb. They may play in a bit of a Mickey Mouse league in a minor international nation, but then so do Celtic and Rangers

When Saga came to us on loan I thought he was a touch of class - and frankly too good for the team he was joining. Since then his form seems to have drifted away, whether it's a motivation thing or a gradual dwindling of fitness it's hard to say. I'd love to see him stay, fight for a place in the team and get back to the player he was, but I won't be heart broken if he goes.

I thgink in terms of skill he's no better than Jake Thomson, and in terms of speed he's probably slower. But he has the strength to battle his way past defenders where Jake would go down like a sack of nine pins - and that's what we need in this division. I hope Reading let us hang on to him. And I hope Jake looks at why Antonio is in the team ahead of him and ups that side of his game.

How can LeTissier appear on that list without the likes of Michael Schumacher (twice caught and punished for cheating - at least once not caught), practically every cyclist in the Tour de France (too many drug scandals to mention, but the Festina team in 98 leaps to mind) and the entire East German Olympic team of 1976? I almost wish I ever read the Sun just so I could stop!

They average about 10k just under 50% capacity - decent for a league where attendances under 5k aren't uncommon. http://stats.football365.com/dom/ENG/D2/attend.html
-
Oddly they have quite a decent home support for League One with the sixth highest attendance. I wish they didn't as their formation from the bones of Wimbledon was a disgrace. Hat's off to the Norwich fans. For a city with a population of 132,000 to pack in nearly 24 thousand in League 1 is phenominal (By the same measure Southampton is 228,600 and Leeds population is 770,800).

McMenemy - one of the UK's most successful managers?
SaintDonkey replied to Nineteen Canteen's topic in The Saints
He's already in the top 20 post-war Southampton managers (mind you so's Branfoot by my reckoning) -
I wish they'd sort out the bloody online booking Yet again it's telling me that there are no seats avaiable

Forget the debate and back to the vote rigging already! Antii's overtaken Southall, the next target is Shay Given.
-
Yes he was but this is about vote rigging not reality! Come on lads Antii's lagging in 6th behind Nevillle Southall at the moment. We can't have the Evertonians being better vote riggers than us now can we!

Okay if we're doing the math thing... Fudging the data slightly to make Gillingham bottom half in the last 6 games we've played 3 teams in the bottom half of the table and averaged 2.33 points per game and 3 teams in the top half averaging 1.33 points per game. In our next 6 games we play 3 top half teams and 3 bottom half so I would expect us to gain 11 points. Some way short of the 16 you say we need. However we've played more games against top half teams (especially since I'm counting Gillingham as bottom half just to make the maths easier) so we've got 20 games left against bottom half teams and just 14 against top half teams. Keep up this form and we'll get another 65 points by the end of the season. 68 points in total just missing out on the play offs but without the -10 points we'd be banging on the automatic promotion places. My glass is half full.

Glad to see Holder-Spooner getting a run out in the reserves. I've no idea whther he's any good but you've gotta love the name. write up on OS now http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/ReservesNews/0,,10280~1825390,00.html

32 grounds visited, only 22 count for the 92 club though.

I'm not expecting anything against Oldham. Obviously I think we should be targetting a win and on form I wouldn't rule one out, but I'm not going to be calling for Pardew's head if we lose. What I do like about Saints this season is we've shown we can play pretty and play ugly. I'm not afraid of any conditions of the pitch or the weather - where as last season I was afraid of every condition!

I f**king love that! It must be done

The thing that really annoys me about the new site is that it's hopeless on mobile. The old site was never too bad and just before it vanished they had put in a mobile version that was excellent. That and the 'match facts' that have replaced the online text commentary.

I could only be arse to scan the first page of the thread for you. I really couldn't be arsed to read the entire thread to prove that you were talking bollix when only 1 Pardew out poster was required to do that. I happen to agree with the posters who say "if things haven't improved by Christmas he should go - but I don't believe they won't have done". Check my earlier post in this thread - you are patronizingly re-iterating my own viewpoint back to me, well done have a smartie. C.B. you normally post sense on here and as it happens I agree with everything you have said on the matter. What I don't agree with is this knee jerk attacking of other posters who disagree with your view point.

Just to refresh your memory we have 2 unequivicable "Pardew Out" on the first page of this thread. And of course there's plenty of "not quite saying Pardew Out but as near as damnit" from the usual suspects, who I guess were covering them selves so a few months from now if it has gone wrong can say "I said back in October that Pardew should be sacked". Hypothetically how long should any manager be given is an interesting question. However I would say that docker-p's choice of wording when he posted the question was inflamatory and bound to solicit the response it has done rather than fostering intelligent debate.

That sums it up for me. Gillett's best position is occupied by Hammond at the moment - and Hammond is a darn sight better at it than Gillett ever was. I love the guy as a player and with regular games he will improve, but he's not going to get those at Saints while Hammond is fit and playing so well. A spell of first team action at Donny could be just the thing to get him back in form and show Pardew what he's missing.
