This isn't a step in the right direction. It might have been had they been a top 10 side, but it's another promoted side at home. We won't get many better chances and again we failed. These games are absolutely critical.

Not scapegoating him. Its just the annoying narrative that just because he comes out and admits we're crap, somehow he's a great captain.
-
Looking forward to brave Jack facing the media saying we weren't good enough and it's unacceptable. Then people saying he's a great captain and how much he loves the club ffs.

The lack of balls in this team is incredible. We go in front in a game and then we shrink and become totally passive.
-
Didn't get out to the wide man, and no effort to stop the cross. Their striker fell over and still had time to get up. Pathetic defending.
-
Clinton Morrison on sky just sad we are 'very predictable and not really good enough. But then that's Russell Martins style'. Ouch! Bit harsh...
-
When we're on the front foot we looked good, but passing it around at the back we looked increasingly jittery. Bazunu in particular looks like he's trying to present them with a goal. We have to take back control and keep the ball better or its a matter of time til they score.

Every game u listen to on solent, Jo Tessem says 'we just don't move the ball quickly enough' and yet every week we do exactly the same. Meanwhile Ipswich are playing with pace at home and went 2 up in 15 minutes.
-
Let's face it, our tactics are basically negative. More interested in passing than scoring. Martin thinks he knows something the rest of the league don't. Meanwhile the best teams play at a higher speed and score goals.
-
Every time we can go wide we play it back inside where it's congested. And everything we can ho forward into space, we turn and pass back into our back four. It's absolutely baffling because it puts us under so much pressure.
-
We just give them so much time on the ball. If they get another I can see the confidence drain out of us.
-
Defending is utterly embarrassing. Bednarek scuffs a clearance from which they should score again. What the hell have they been doing all week.
-
Sunderland have the freedom of the park in midfield. Acres of space. We look totally disorganised.
-
Can't see St Mary's tolerating this walking pace football for long
-
You know you're bad when even the other teams at the bottom seem to walk through you easily.

What does running the streets mean? For those of us not down with the kids.....

Jones was a dreadful appointment but at least I could see the thought process. SR thought they could see something in him that no one else saw. OK, they got that totally wrong, and fairly quickly they ditched him. For me Selles was the really stupid decision. Pretty much every team at the bottom who sack their manager goes for someone with experience. Dyche, Big Sam, Roy etc etc. But not us, oh no. We again think we can buck the trend by appointing a man who was not, and never had been a manager. So zero experience. Even then I remember a lot of fans who were delighted because he said a few good things about togetherness and he wore a suit. Pretty quickly it became clear that he has no real idea and is out of his depth. The only thing I'll say is that we could appoint Pep and even he can't do anything about our players who just can't finish any chances. Selles might be a good manager eventually but to put him into this situation was a ridiculous decision.

Tella got 2 in 41 for us. He has 17 in 39 for Burnley......

We're terrible. Losing at home to Grimsby. Say no more.
-
Our lack of quality in the final third is so depressing. We think cos we knock it around at the back that we're playing well.

What is it with Stuart Armstrong. Since he arrived he's scored a few great goals and at times looks like he should be the first name on the team sheet. But none of our managers have seen fit to consistently play him. I heard that he is one of those players that only wants to play when they are 100% fit and pain free which apparently for a professional footballer is virtually never - but I don't know that for a fact. There must be some issue as when he's good he's great, but he's never on the pitch. He also seems to escape criticism completely.

Southampton 0-1 Newcastle League Cup Semi Final 1st Leg
SonicBoom replied to Saint_clark's topic in The Saints
Salisu was poor. Passing was awful and he constantly jumped in and got turned but Orsic didn't protect him at all and constantly left him 2 on 1 -
Maybe SR have a 5 or 10 year plan and they think they can accommodate a year in the championship, and that their investment in players with potential will play off and we'll come straight back up. To me young players with potential is great. We get to see them develop and we get a big pay day when they move, but unfortunately our established players are either not good enough or are not performing. We desperately need some experienced players who perform consistently - or we're going to get relegated with a whimper.

I never liked Long because for the odd thing he did well he would miss chances that would have gained us draws and wins. Adams is the same. You get a big chance you have to Bury it. Especially the easy ones. You miss absolute sitters, you don't deserve anything.

I've seen that guy on twitter and he never claims to be in the know. He says he's just like everyone else but he collects rumours and shares them. He openly said he has no inside info. Why do you think he's getting a living from his twitter account?
