Around the time we were buying Armstrong, I think Villa were buying Ollie Watkins from Brentford for 28m. And it feels like that’s the difference between 15m and 28m. We take multiple gambles on 15m talents and hope some will step up. Whilst Villa bought a banker.

Just realized that Ryan Sessesgnon is available on a free. Feels like the kind of signing we’ve had success with before - a young talent who was at a big club to early so they didn’t get game time e.g Romeu, Bertrand and Hojberg. HCDAJFU

Yeah agree. Sadly I think that’s what 15m got you - a player who is hit and miss. Whilst I think Villa spent 30m in the same window on Watkins. And he’s turned out to be double the player. 5 yrs later the price of a consistent performer could be half our whole transfer budget.

If Del Piero can stay at Juve when they’re relegated and every big club is trying to sign him - JWP could have stayed at us. Instead he chose to leave to a bang average club - it wasn’t Liverpool, Klopp and Gerrard or a decent utd side. It was Moyes and Soucek. So I feel we should move on just like he tried to.

Armstrong just ain't good enough. Either a poor first touch. Over or under hits the pass. Or doesn't hit it first time. painful watching someone so out of form
-
Lavia left City cause he wanted game time. And now he’s potentially gonna end up moving a yr later to a team where he’ll be sat on the bench again. What a waste of a player.

Edozie seems to have hit the gym over the last 6 months

GK position is a right mess. Do you pick the one who can't save or the one who can't play it out from the back?
-
Corner routine would be quite smart if Bree could get it off the ground.
-
Can't understand how any scout looked at Djenpo and thought yep he's Prem quality. Just never ever seems in control of any part of his game.
-
Lyanco just hasn't got the head for this type of tactics. Should never play for Martin again. And then he's got a DM playing CB next to him. And McCarthy who can't make a simple 5 yard pass. Car crash.
-
Swear he opened arrogantly with "the club couldn't be in better hands" LOL

Think the Selles appointment is as bad as the Jones one. Absolutely no evidence that he could do the job. And basically feels like we've got the work experience kid in charge and he's up against managers with 30 yrs experience. Don't think we'll get another point this season.
-
Selles or Dyche. In a 16 game run in. I know who I'd back (and I hate the football Dyche plays). We're screwed. Nice one Sports Republic.

Would love Kompany. Could see it being Marsch. Reckon SR see themselves as being similar to Red Bull.

Think we need to sing “jones your football is shite” again. -

This is all on Jones. 5 at the back with players who have never played it well. In the biggest game we've had in years. He should have used the City set-up. Nice one -
That’s what happened at Lewes last when a drone stopped play. ref broke the wings off on the touch line. Boos from both sets of fans
-
Yeah possibly. But also think Boehly might get bored and then go out and buy Enzo Fernandez or Declan Rice 6 months later. It's a really tough club to join.
-
Blimey. Chill out. By saying a year later it suggests that I think he'll move in the summer. You don't? And then yeah - I believe football is pretty screwed if a young player takes a step down to get game time. and then a year later he's swallowed up by another big club and then doesn't play again for years.
-
Won't be surprised if Lavia leaves... But it shows how screwed football is when a player leaves a club because of limited opportunities. And then a year later her moves to a club where his opportunities are probably going to be more limited.

A good coach would be able to take that group of players. Work out a system that they could play and implement it (Potter at Brighton). Or bring their own style and train the players to do it like Poch did. We may still struggle to score goals, or make a mistake or two due to players still learning the system. But we would have seen a method. And by creating a style of play the team would gain confidence and stop making stupid mistakes like forgetting to mark or track a runner. The England cricket team right now is a really good example of a coach with a plan making apparently shit players great. Unfortunately - and I’ll never understand why SR did it…They’ve chosen a coach with no style and who our players seem unlikely to buy into. So instead of improving we’ve slumped even further.
-
How he thinks ely and Djenpo are more likely to win us a game than Armstrong and Aribo is beyond me.
-
Got a feeling it’ll be Ben Brereton Diaz. Age is right. Contract running out. Proven goal scorer (in the championship). Let’s hope he’s Rickie rather than Armstrong.

Remembered tonight how buzzing I was for George Burley. Thought we’d absolutely smashed it. So Wtf do I know. Would love him to prove everyone wrong. Got a weird feeling that we might get something from Liverpool
