Again everyone not playing JWP, our only source of a threat in recent weeks.

Getting to the Game - What's the weather really like...??
Fabrice29 replied to Micky's topic in The Saints
National rail site shows Reading to Bournemouth stopping at Winchester, Basingstoke and Southampton as usual. Is this not correct? -
Not sure we should suddenly be dropping JWP when him and his set pieces have been the source of our only threat on recent weeks.
-
Very misunderstood man and player. Anyone with any dealings with him would know that. Don't under estimate how much he cares. I think it's telling he's not once asked to leave despite very much being able to and despite seeing everyone else ask. He's very appreciative of what he's got here. Ask yourself who VVD's "Why wouldn't you want to play here?" comment he reportedly said at Anfield was to.

Can we all agree not to have a meltdown when MP makes a correct tactical decision to start Long and Hoijberg over Carillo and Boufal on Sunday please? Pace and endeavour will unsettle their backline and we'll need Hoijberg in midfield to help break up attacks and spring our own.
-
Whats your basis for his poor attitude? Because I've seen absolutely no evidence of that at all.
-
Ridiculous over reactions on here ffs. This season is awful clearly and I'm as ****ed off and want to question it as much as anyone. Laat season I guess leads to this but you can see the thinking in the recruitment. Redmond and Boufal had potential. He should have reacted in January when it wasn't working though. But nobody can question hjs record prior to that. Consistent improvements. I'll question this year as much as anyone and I want him to act on Pellegrino but to compare him to Lowe and say he's been toxic for years is just nonsense.

People can have a pop at Reed if they wish but I tell you one thing, it's time so very under performing players step upnow. They know we've tried to replace them and it hasn't worked out so if they want to make a name for themselves theres places up for grabs. I'm looking especially at Redmond, Gabbi and Boufal/Tadic too. We need goals and if these players can add end products to their game they've got a spot in this team for the rest of the season and beyond. Someone has to step up now. Starting tonight.
-
Why? He's not really a similar player firstly. He likes to come off the wing with the ball at his feet rather than break lines and beyond defenders ala Promes and Mane. Secondly we're not the only team who haven't opted for him and he's been available more than once at least before.
-
Moyes has said its not happening.
-
Reports One poster has mentioned Redmond. It's spread like wild fire and now its fact. No evidence or suggestion anywhere about Lemina being an issue. Same with Gabbi really, his issue is he's not really contributed in the patches he has played.
-
He's not ready yet though is he. Be honest, take hus name out of it, if we signed the above striker we'd be questioning it. It's ok FF. He's allowed to not be ready yet. He's allowed to be getting vital experience bu being out on loan. It's not a personal slight on you, him or anyone else. It's simply for the good of his career and the clubs benefit in the future. I'm sure next season we'll let him fly, because you know, he'll be ready. But right now if we had stuck him in at the start of the season for us, his confidence would be shot, he'd have less experience because there's no way he'd have played as much and we'd be sending him on loan somewhere. You don't need take this signing so personally. The club have seen a massive flaw in our team we've had since Pelle and are backing this guy to fill it. He, Gallagher and Austin will all be around next season to compete and Gallaghers loan experience this year will put him in a better position to do so. I'm pretty sure there'll be no Long or Gabbi so he'll be able to have a good fair crack at it and hopefully he can smash it.
-
So exactly what we need then. Lovely. French league is a completely different league to ours remember. It plays alot differently and he sounds like he's suited to ours just like Falcao for example is suited to theirs.

Sam Gallagher - Joins Blackburn: Official
Fabrice29 replied to Sergei Gotsmanov's topic in The Saints
He's out there getting much needed experience and he'll be all the better for it. Calls for him to come back and either spearhead our attack now or sit on our bench are madness and will do nothing for him or us. -
Better for now yes. I think the club probably rate Targett higher but they recognise McQueen has had experience on loan already and Targett hasn't. Regular football will only do him good and the club good next year.
-
If Long is fit or we have a new striker they should play not Gabbiadini. Everyone raves about him but he did very little yesterday again.
-
Not for me. He's taken one team down and showed a lack of professionalism at the other in this country. We'd be utterly naive to think he'd be any different here. One patch of form has given him a reputation he hasn't earnt. I'd be shocked if his spell at Watford of 23 games has made us want someone we hardly showed any interest in before.
-
Well I agree but he's lauded as some sort of god on here.
-
As someone has pointed out on Twitter to those scoffing at us signing a Monaco back up, Gabbiadini was 3rd choice at Napoli.
-
Spent a bit of time watching him this morning a little more i depth. I can see what Monaco fans mean by his ability in the air. Some bullet headers. Would be quite pleased to see him attacking some of our crosses from Tadic, Bertrand and JWP. Either might make Cedric look accurate every now and then.
-
I find it a little comforting that Pellegrino has realised a big problem with our attack is the lack of a target in the box and that our best form has come when full backs and wide players had Austin to aim for. Thus he's picked someone he knows can give us that.
-
His goals to minutes ratio is actually not bad. As has been said he brings something we haven't had since Pelle. We are much better when we have something to aim for in tbe box. Hence our best form this and last season was when Austin played or Gabbi was on fire. As for Gabbi, I don't quite get the desire to get him in at the moment. Without Long we'd have been beat Saturday. Also for all of Gabbiadini's patch of form last year that is all its been. He was a part of the team that bored us at the end of last year and was guilty of missing good chances. He's done nothing this season to deserve playing. I know the tactics don't help but you jave to take it upon yourself to make an impression. Austin did and Long for all his faults makea a much bigger impression on the game than Gabbiadini. I do feel for him because he doesn't get the service his movement deserves and he probably is confused as to why he's not started much lately but has anyone seriously thought "oh Gabbiadini played well today" this season? Or "we were much better in that spell that Gabbiadini came on" because I haven't. People can talk about giving Gallagher a go but he's on loan to improve because he's been deemed not good enough yet. Let him do that. If we signed a striker who's has a few good weeks this season and a decent half of a season laat year in the Championship this place would be even worse than this. Also
-
Yes. Hence why he's back up for Falcao and they are struggling in bottom half Championship teams. I know your backing your man but seriously..have a day off.
-
I just don't see how this (if he ends up at Everton) is a **** up by Reed or the club. If he goes to Everton because they've matched his wages then fair play to him but there's no way in hell we should be breaking our wage structure for anyone. Yes he'd improve us more than likely but its not guarenteed. He's 29 so we get what...2 good years out of him max based on the fact that he's all about his speed. Its romantic, exicting and nice now but when he's past it and he's on a 3 or 4 year contract of over 100k a week it looks stupid and its bloody expensive. If we can get him on tbw right terms then lovely jubbly but its quite clear Allardyce doesn't give a **** about the long term strategy of Everton and probably has his newly into football and excitable and rich chairman wrapped around his finger and is making this deal happen for him now rather than caring about Everton being lumbered with an over paid, inconsistent winger in a year and a bits time. I for one am quite glad we remain sensible in this situation.
