In which case you have every right to ask what you like, word it how you like and ask it to who ever you like. Despite what people on here who aren't going say. But own it, rather than claiming you're speaking on behalf of loads of people on twitter like the dafty did last time.

They were piss poor comments. It's not anyones place to go around telling JWP or anyone else, what they will be feeling and make comments like "won't see his family as much" and to suggest he should be stay and sacrifice his ambition because his family can come on the pitch and he's appreciated here. Comment on whether the move works out or even whether you think it will work out but to go around telling him that he's going to regret t and should shove his ambition aside because he's 28 now is just really poor., Even more so because James granted him an interview before the end of the season and told him face to face exactly what he's in football for and what he's feeling and chasing. All of which he'll get from this move.
-
Much more chance of achieving it West Ham than here though and that’s the reality. Seen loads of people jump on Blackmores ‘not a good move, he’ll regret that, won’t be appreciated elsewhere’ narrative but getting a clap every time he takes a corner at St Mary’s in the Championship probably isn’t what gets him out of bed in the morning. Playing at the top level and in Europe once more probably is. Baffling response from those who should know better too.

We need 4 CB's. Downes. A goal scoring wide man and striker if Adams leaves.
-
Like the city kid who is better and about to be sold for even more you mean?
-
He literally begged to leave on the local radio station just days before the final game of last season. I agree he’s been great and I wish him all the best but this idea that money talks when he went on Solent and begged anyone in Europe to sign him is absurd. He’s been keen on leaving for a while, we need a reset, he does too, we’ve got a ridiculous deal when you take the emotion out of it and hopefully we can move on quickly. Would be hilarious seeing them relegated though and us going up though and no, we shouldn’t be getting him back in that scenario.
-
I’m not saying they are any different from you or I. I have no issue with them pushing for the move but the idea that they’ve been trying to convince everyone that they aren’t is cringe and has been all summer. You or I wouldn’t be briefing the local reporters how we are happy to stay in an attempt to manage our PR. The bit I really find cringeworthy is that people believe it though. I’ve seen online and IRL people brag about Tino staying for ‘one more year because he’s so grateful to us’ which is a line straight out of The Athletic powder puff pieces and just utter bollocks.
-
You’re not happy to stay if you’re actively pursuing a move. Maybe publicly you can play that card but that’s my issue, I find the PR side ‘happy to stay unless someone accepts a bid’ bollocks nauseating. If Alcaraz as you say has actively told people to not pursue one then that’s great, but the middle men like Tino, Tella, JWP who don’t say anything but have their teams working on getting them out but also trying to convince everyone they are happy to stay is nonsense, especially when it works. I have no issue with them wanting out but pretending that they aren’t on the phone everyday to their agent asking for an update is such bollocks and especially when people say stuff like ‘sad the club cashed in, he was happy to stay’.
-
😂 Yeah okay pal. ‘I was so happy to stay that when informed of the interest I told my agent to keep working on the deal and I told Southampton to keep working on the deal and I told Newcastle to keep working on the deal and at no point did I tell anyone to stop working on the deal because I was happy to stay’
-
Shocked to find out Tino wanted the move all along despite what his PR team briefed to Tanswell.

We’d be able to afford a 30 million transfer but we’d actively choose not to because it’s a daft decision for a club like us. Even dafter when you consider the player JWP is and the value it would represent. Which is why the daftest and least coherent run PL team of them all are the only ones still interested.
-
So let’s put our buying heads on and ask ourselves if we’d really be keen on a captain who just led his team to relegation, who is at his peak and has no resale value and if being ‘proven and fit’ but ousted of the national team by the guy we just sold is really enough to justify us spending over 30 million on. Saints have every right to demand what they like but I’m not shocked there aren’t many interested and a bit shocked West Ham are still keen (although less shocked when you realise it’s Moyes).
-
Yes he’s three times the player and given his age and potential to prove he more than justifies the price. However that’s not the way it works anyway. Reliability is a good trait yes. Covers the most ground - who are you comparing him to? Best set piece taker in the world? His corners are pump so let’s call it what it is, he’s possibly the best free kick taker in the world.
-
You’d be going mental if we were interested in spending 30 plus million on a relegated 28 year old midfielder with a good free kick last season.
-
Well if you read the quote he’s talking about his own experience of struggling and trying to survive in the PL. I think he and Wilcox have both talked about wanting to be top 10 and therefore that would be more enjoyable.
-
Hi Matt, do you know the real score on Friday night at all?
-
Ignore this, it's not worth it
-
Aww. Things have changed and you don't like it. Poor you. It's a shame everyone else, and you lets be honest, enjoy watching it on the god awful evil television.
-
Was also not even mentioned by Martin when he was talking about strikers he had in the squad. Pretty sure all parties know he's off but because he'll need a wage cut I've got a hunch he's leaving it until the last minute to get one last big months pay

The time limit stuff is genuinely one of the worst theories out there about VAR. For a start not all camera angles are instantly available (which coincidently played into our favour when Djenepo handballed on the way to a goal once, the angle that showed it wasn't available for the VAR in time) and secondly I really don't think what Stuart Attwell needs when he's trying to look at a screen is a timer going down and the ref on field in his ear "time's nearly up Stu, come on mate, make a decision". He's clueless enough as it is. Anyway, it always makes me laugh when people moan about it ruining peoples celebrations and taking away "the point of the game which is to score goals ffs!!". VAR gave and led to plenty of goals last season, almost as nearly as much as it took away if you include penalties it gave. There are plenty of decisions that need correcting, you only need to watch that awful highlights show last night to have seen that, it's worth it's weight in gold if it only corrects one of those. The use of it can be better but the concept is rightly here to stay and we'll be cursing not having it at some stage because being punished by something the referee couldn't see or got hideously wrong isn't good for anyone even if it is "just proper football mate!"

He started two cup games for us and barely got a kick. We were rubbish but he was very rubbish and well out of his depth with the physicality of the game here.

Picking a player as captain who you know you will want to replace in a years time (maximum) feels silly.
-
Not really sure what you think Martin was omitting. He was asked specially about JWP, Lavia and Sulemana and answered accordingly. He also clearly said things could change and had changed at least twice this week already and also pointed out he wanted people who were ‘fully present and all in’. That suggests to me that things have changed this week regarding someone and he won’t be picking them because they aren’t ‘fully present and all in’. Feels like that’s Tino, who he wasn’t specifically asked about and who might have had notice late this week that things are getting closer on the move he wants, or he could just be injured and wasn’t asked about him. And fwiw that Matt guy just reports what he hears from the training ground, it’s others that read far too much into it, for example you getting angry that he correctly told everyone JWP wouldn’t be playing against Bournemouth. All he did was state the facts. Same he’s done here with Tino.
-
He’ll be second choice right back to an ageing Trippier in a season where they’ll play twice a week. He’s got a chance to learn from Trippier, take over him and cement his place in a team that is in the CL and in theory will be top 4 challengers for a while (they won’t imo this season). It’s a no brainer. And as I’ve said on here before he’s clearly been itching for the move so good luck to him, let’s replace him with Aarons and crack on. This is the nature of buying top young talents. Just a shame the injury stalled things.
