Yeah he's been highly rated for a while and has proven himself at this level. No idea why Leeds don't fancy him but they have a weird obsession over Luke Ayling.
-
Alcaraz had a piss poor 60 minutes on Saturday, you writing him off based on his current form as well?
-
He's got a whole body of evidence about him you could look at but if you want to be lazy and go for his most recent twenty minute spell then good for you.
-
Two very different players. The very little I saw of Drameh last season reminded me of Tino a little bit, aggressive defending 1 on 1 and an athlete.
-
Why? They've been Lutons first choice RB's the past two seasons. No reason why they aren't good enough for us. Not sure Bree fully suits the style but ability wise they are more than capable at this level.
-
Fraser joined Newcastle pre Saudi takeover though so I don't think it would be that high.
-
I don't think our fans doubted JWP was any of those things did they? That's exactly how I would describe him and I was quite happy he left. It's a decent start on paper but it's two results against the run of play for West Ham. High conversion rates and very little possession don't last long. The moment those little things don't fall for them then the comments will be worth a revisit. But it's also a massive LOL moment at the likes of Blackmore who seemed hell bent on telling him he'd regret this move.

Two completely different CB's of course but you know better.

Lots of bed wetting. Not much focus on the fact that the team that starts tomorrow will be good enough to get us out of this league, and will have a good bench. More players will leave, some will come in, we’ll be very competitive. It’s okay to relax. Nice to have new players, team, vibe and hope. Wish more would leave.

Good fee for someone who has had maybe 5 good games for us?
-
Everyone who thinks we should keep Adams because we’ve dropped down a league will be delighted with Holgate and Fraser, right?
-
I said it before but Martin went out of his way to talk up Armstrong and his qualities being like Piroe nearly a month ago now. He's not a similar player to Che Adams at all and so I don't think we've ever been interested in having Piroe and Armstrong. You wouldn't talk up Armstrongs qualities like that only to bring in the person you've compared him to. Was never realistically on the cards for me. Need a different striker if Che goes. Just to be clear I like Che, his attitude and application seem great. Clearly a good bloke too. No agenda or issue with him personally and yeah, I even think he’s an asset to us in this league or even in the PL. But he’s been underwhelming goal scoring wise, he’s a symbol of our decline over a few years now and he’s had zero interest in signing a new contract for us until possibly this window is over and he’s not gone anywhere. I don’t think he’s irreplaceable, I’ve seen the best of him and it’s fine at best in terms of being a target man but he’s had his chance of scoring regular goals for us and he’s not done it, I don’t think we should be missing out on getting £10m plus for him and I do think we should be targeting a new striker as we should have done for the last 2 years. I find the fact that he’s been part of a team that’s dragged us down to the Championship and then been given unsellable status amongst fans absolutely nuts. Loads of people have scored 20 plus goals in this league. It’s not an impossible task to find someone who can do it and we should aspire to be better than what we currently have at all times. If we can’t find a 20 plus goal scorer then that’s an issue with our team not selling Che.
-
Btw, even amongst the people who think he’s prime Pele, it’s the people like this who think he should be grateful for staying with us and should cast aside any ambition he has of playing at the top level if given the opportunity, that come across as the biggest fools of the lot.
-
We have a new recruitment team. If it was the same debacle as last year maybe I wouldn’t but the positive reset off the pitch should be allowed to provide one on the pitch. And striker is the one position we’ve demanded better from for 2/3 years now. Don’t see why having dragged us to a lower level we should suddenly be grateful for what we’ve got.
-
3 goals in 3 games does not mean you’re prime Pele. Nor does 3 further seasons in this league and only hitting double figures once.
-
We’ve just got relegated mate. A whole bunch of employees lost their job and you’re suggesting one on the pitch gets a pay rise.
-
Also, on this point, and it’ll be my last because it’s even more dull discussing it, have some self respect ffs. You’ve watched this guy and other players in this squad for years now consistently not give you value for money. Don’t reward them now just because the level they’ve dragged us down to is lower. We shouldn’t be entertaining any of them tbh, let alone making one captain and another the key striker to our success. Like I said, have some self respect and start demanding better, not the same at a lower level.
-
‘at this level Che will score goals but we won’t find anyone else’ bloody hell how much has our bad recruitment dragged the hope down of the fans here 😂 If this level is so bad that even he can score then even us can recruit someone else to replace him surely. I’m not even raising the fact that at this level Che has only scored double figures once either. Because you’re giving him extra money for no benefit to us. Extra years on his deal should mean extra value for any transfer. If you’re selling him at 10m anyway then do it now, before you pay him more money.
-
Take a step back and ask yourself how you've got to a stage were you genuinely believe this please. You've watched him over the last few years just like we all have.
-
You fail to see how a striker with a new contract and a few years left is worth more than one with less than a year left? This is our last possible chance to get some money for someone who has been underwhelming. He's not a superstar we can't play without and this isn't a league that only a select few players can score in. Kieffer Moore and Andreas Weimann have scored 20 plus goals in this league in the last few years. Rake in the money and back yourself to find someone else, is the only sensible option for those running the club.
-
It makes it a hell of a lot harder to offload him when you inevitably concluded he’s not good enough though. We’re being offered plus 10 million for someone we don’t think is good enough for the level we aspire to be at. And I’m not going to get into Che bashing because I like him generally but didn’t he score 3 goals in a couple of starts this time last season as well? He ended up on 5 PL goals. He’s consistently gone through massive form swings and that’s what I’m personally bored of. The one good thing about the relegation is the reset we’ve had. Off the pitch we’ve made positive, exciting changes and I don’t see why we can’t do that on the pitch as well. I personally see Che as a symbol of our issues for a while now, amongst others, and I don’t see why we need to keep people around who consistently underwhelm for us when presented with a chance to cash out and have a possibly exciting new look on the pitch.
-
Even if we struggle to replace his goals at this level (doubtful based on some utter turd players have scored 20 plus goals at this level recently and also doubtful because Che has an incredible ability to go through very big form swings and he’s no guarantee of goals over a season)… are you not bored of watching him start up front for us yet? We certainly shouldn’t be offering new deals to a player who has consistently underwhelmed at the level we aspire to be at. Have some joy in your life my friend, embrace a new striker, it might be fun.
-
I just love that the fact you’d be utterly perplexed if a Championship striker had turned us down whilst we were in the PL for the same reasons. Staggering levels of arrogance and no self awareness.
-
The reality is that Che is going to probably go to Everton or somewhere else in the Prem because it's a step up. I don't remember us targeting a Championship striker in January and if we did I cant imagine Blackmore, Glen and any other dope were peddling a narrative that they shouldn't be. I do remember some of them questioning the current Chelsea starting striker's pedigree though.
