  1. The same reason players get wage rises upon promotion…because paying a championship manager a PL wage in the championship just so you don’t have to offer him new terms if he gets promoted is daft and it’s an incentive to do well.
  2. This would have been a trigger in his contract upon promotion not some desperate attempt to get him to stay.
  3. Aww, look at you being the happiest you've been for over a year now. Cute. Hope RM stays and we continue to be shit for your benefit
  4. You don't need to be told face to face to know the bloke recently managing a top English club in the Champions League isn't going to go to the worst team in the league for a relegation battle you thick fuck.
  5. Every single line in this is insane. Impressive really.
  6. Well except their latest choice who got the club promoted as per his objective.
  7. Hi. Not much to add other than what I've said already recently. Don't really think the manager is to blame for limp attackers being limp and limp defenders being limp at this level. Do think today was piss poor though and we'll likely make a change now so look forward to the next guy making a big difference.
  8. Rather than spending your days leaving that reaction on all my posts can I suggest you check out what the word "possession" means instead.
  9. We played through the lines quite a lot against Everton and in other games, but the result of seven goals isn't because we play it out the back it's because we lack ruthless quality in the final third which we'll still lack whether we smash it long or do something in between. I'd also add our complete lack of any quality physical threat up top really doesn't help and means we have to work quite hard for chances. We could really have done with signing Delap. I'd also point out that whilst our goals scored is worse than any other team that's mainly because most other teams are scoring a lot more goals from set pieces rather than any major difference in open play goals and again, I don't think our goals scored suddenly becomes much better if we play a different way. Happy to be proven wrong of course and when the manager changes next week we can all believe that the likes of Armstrong etc can suddenly thrive in a different system, until kick off at least.
  10. Club plants ffs Someone dares to suggest they'd rather see us pass the ball to each other than the other team pass the ball to each other and they are suddenly holed up in Staplewood on a short term contract to defend something that could potentially be over in 3 days. You melts
  11. Did you not read the word "attempting" or did you deliberately ignore it? All 3 of our managers that season wanted to play direct quick football, not one of them convinced the players and we became incredibly bad because there was little quality, little belief and little idea how to implement it successfully. We ended up with a pretty average squad out of ideas and confidence and nobody enjoyed it. Whatever your issues with the football on show, the players are quite clearly much more invested in it, it's delivered success (albeit it at a lower level) and there's a plan that is attempting to be implement by all concerned. It's a stark difference to the clueless approach we had that season.
  12. Fraser coming on isn’t a walking red card ffs 😂 Taylor also got rinsed by their lad later in the game which people seem to forget. It’s so utterly bizarre that people anyone in their right mind can say ‘sub had bad moment so if sub didn’t happen we’d have won’. Anyway, the tactical decisions of the game isn’t the point I was making nor one I wanted to discuss. The wider point was clear and stands either way, that sometimes in the PL things will go for you and sometimes they won’t. Being better in the big moments is what will be key for us this season. Yesterday we were, we wilted for whatever reason against Leicester and Ipswich again was another last kick of the game going against us. That’s the game, it’s to be expected and happens a lot in this league not just us. We need to improve our management of games better at times obviously and be ruthless in both boxes but shit will happen like that, because that’s the league but it doesn’t make RM the messiah or devil either way.
  13. Did it go in the net and therefore under the bar?
  14. He suits a system of having to defend with the ball rather than without it. He’s good on the ball and a good reactive, recovery defender. He’s exposed when it comes to having to defend his box and go up against powerful forwards at this level.
  15. Martin and his team selection got us two nil up then presumably, if that’s the way it works? Or maybe the defeat was because we went down to 10 men, got run over physically and in the final moments the ref went to blow his whistle, they won a corner instead and smashed a ball from the edge of the box under the bar rather than into it like yesterday. Fine margins.
  16. We literally went down attempting all guns blazing stuff 2 seasons ago. And guess what…it was crap, it didn’t feel like we were all guns blazing because we were so bad at it, there’s no guarantee that ‘all guns glazing’ translates into results or football you would enjoy. What is more likely is you’ll see a squad that’s largely physically out of its depth get rolled over completely and torn apart even more than we do now. Last year we scored a lot of goals, that isn’t going to translate because the league is ridiculously tough and ruthless at both ends, but you need to stick with them as the team navigates it. I’d much rather us try and bait teams in and fuck it up ourselves than attempt to match teams for speed and tempo and get beat up every week. You don’t have to go if you’re not enjoying it. It’s beyond bizarre people who have been moaning for over a year now continue to go and then moan again.
  17. We could have been sat here talking about 2 previous home wins if the fine margins went our way previously. That’s the ruthlessness of this league and combine that with the fact that we’re the worst team in it on paper based on the last 2 seasons, we’re going to have to accept that until we get a striker or proper defender that can decide games on their own, fine margins will be a big factor and we’ll have to stick with them each time they fall against us.
  18. The difference fine margins make in this league is crazy. Feels good this time.
  19. I'm well aware we changed goalkeeper for those games because (if we're being pedantic about such minute details) I watched those games and at least one of the goals we scored included a short pass from McCarthy to his defenders and us "passing out" but again...things are much more nuanced than "THIS KEEPER ISNT AS COMFORTABLE AS OTHERS AND WE WON SO OUR TACTICS MUST HAVE CHANGED COMPLETELY WHY CANT WE DO THAT AGAIN ITS SO OBVIOUS OMG!!!" And again...if we're talking things you haven't recognised...you seem to be omitting the fact that we had success against those teams with Bazanu in goal too.
  20. Don't think I mentioned McCarthy did I? Happy to be corrected.
  21. Talking of things that never happened, the victories over West Brom, Leeds and quite a few others before those four games and the season in which we finished bottom attempting to play higher tempo, less passing around the back and quick delivery to the front. It's almost as if things are slightly more nuanced than "good manager and high tempo ffs!"
  22. Again, not what I said. Win or lose today it doesn’t define his tenure or his ability as a manager and win or lose I’ll probably still think the players will have played some part. Radical, I know.
  23. Yeah you’ve said that twice now. Well done. And just for clarity, I’ll laugh at those who have been and will continue to be so definitive in their views on RM being a terrible appointment. And if we don’t win, I’ll continue to laugh at them.
  24. Except I didn’t say it has nothing to do with him either way did I? I made the point because some people seem so emotionally invested in him that every good or bad result will ultimately be a judgement on him. It’s extreme and probably part of an unhealthy English football culture ultimately but your responses just seem to highlight the extreme nature of it all, it can only be all his fault or nothing to do with him. Nobody seems capable of actually finding or even exploring the nuanced truth in the middle.
  25. Btw just a quick reminder to those below and others so obsessed with RM that he’s just the manager, the game isn’t just won or lost because of who the manager is and having him as the manager isn’t the only thing that matters. Just insane levels of obsession on here.
