Jimmy_D Posted 25 November, 2012 Posted 25 November, 2012 Hard to call, Ramirez or Puncheon I reckon, honourable mention for Gazzaniga.
Turkish Posted 25 November, 2012 Posted 25 November, 2012 The obvious candidates are Ramirez and puncheon. For me though I thought Cork was outstanding. Time after time he won the ball back, picked up loose balls and got us moving again. Nothing spectacular but a superb display.
forever a red and white Posted 25 November, 2012 Posted 25 November, 2012 Ramirez loves a nutmeg, at least one every game I have seen him play. Puncheon and Lallana were fantastic. Those three were great. Morgan made some important interceptions. Clyne and Shaw were good at full back too.
Ohio Saint Posted 25 November, 2012 Posted 25 November, 2012 Ramirez for me.....But so many just behind him
pap Posted 25 November, 2012 Posted 25 November, 2012 Ramirez, just, and mostly on stats. One goal; one assist. However, Lallana, Puncheon and Cork were great too. Whole team was up for it today. Very pleasing.
RedArmy Posted 25 November, 2012 Posted 25 November, 2012 Jack Cork. Doesn't particularly do anything special that will stand out to the 'skills school' mongs, but he was outstanding. One of the best tacklers we've had in years.

Bearsy Posted 25 November, 2012 Posted 25 November, 2012 Fonte should be in with a shout, given the quality of strikers he was mugging off. Unlucky not to score too.
B Rabbit Posted 25 November, 2012 Posted 25 November, 2012 Thought both CB's played very well today. Read the game and cleared everything up. Morgan was fantastic today. Th whole team linked well and some of our attacking play is first class I would probably also go for Ramirez. Thought that first incident in the box was a penalty... He was looking for it but he knocked it by the defender beautifully and he made contact with him... impeded his run = penalty. Goal and an assist though. Can't ask for much more...and he seldom gives the ball away... Fantastic player.
Danbert Posted 25 November, 2012 Posted 25 November, 2012 Can't remember him not winning a header - he gets my vote.
Turkish Posted 25 November, 2012 Posted 25 November, 2012 Jack Cork. Doesn't particularly do anything special that will stand out to the 'skills school' mongs, but he was outstanding. One of the best tacklers we've had in years. Spot on.
Thedelldays Posted 25 November, 2012 Posted 25 November, 2012 puncheon...although, a flip of a coin between him and ramirez.. saying that..about 6 players could easily win the vote
Ohio Saint Posted 25 November, 2012 Posted 25 November, 2012 puncheon...although, a flip of a coin between him and ramirez.. saying that..about 6 players could easily win the vote ....And this is why we need multiple vote polls for MOTM to get a better perspective.......No, I will NOT shut up about this!
Jimmy_D Posted 25 November, 2012 Author Posted 25 November, 2012 ....And this is why we need multiple vote polls for MOTM to get a better perspective.......No, I will NOT shut up about this! I understand where you're coming from, but part of what makes this interesting is the difficulty and debate that results from having to pick just one. Plus there's always the thread discussing it to give honourable mentions.
View From The Top Posted 25 November, 2012 Posted 25 November, 2012 Cork had another majestic game which allows the flair players to flourish but Gaston was immense.
Bearsy Posted 25 November, 2012 Posted 25 November, 2012 Can't remember him not winning a header - he gets my vote. According to the statzone thing on iphones Fonte won all of his headers and all of his tackles. Bless him.

70's Mike Posted 25 November, 2012 Posted 25 November, 2012 Fonte for me, being solid at the back allows the others to play
saintchris23 Posted 25 November, 2012 Posted 25 November, 2012 Morgan was immense today, did no-one see that performance!?!?!
Golac's Cunning Stunts Posted 25 November, 2012 Posted 25 November, 2012 Jack Cork. Doesn't particularly do anything special that will stand out to the 'skills school' mongs, but he was outstanding. One of the best tacklers we've had in years. Agree Cork has made a big difference to the team since he has come back. Players like him never get the glory. One of Chelsea's best players a few years ago was Makelele - provided the platform for them and France to go and play. However, that's just it - you still need the "skills school" players like Ramirez to go and win you the game. So, your use of the word mongs just makes you look a mong really.
KelvinsRightGlove Posted 25 November, 2012 Posted 25 November, 2012 Fonte, cork and Punch all decent shouts. Has to be Gaston for me. Where are all those saying he wasn't up to much now by the way?
norwaysaint Posted 25 November, 2012 Posted 25 November, 2012 For me the star of the show was the interplay between Ramirez, Lallana and Puncheon, but if you pick out one of them, it has to be Ramirez. Clyne was very good going forward AND in defence today.
UpweySaint Posted 25 November, 2012 Posted 25 November, 2012 For me punch today. But everything he had on show and his movement, along with our entire front line, was class. Special mention to ramirez who's looking better every game, his close control with the ball is a joy to watch. But again with most on here good displays all over the park and from the man on the side
Chez Posted 25 November, 2012 Posted 25 November, 2012 very tough one to call. The whole midfield played well. Cork has been absolutely sensational since he came back. I doubted he would make a big impact, but he has proved me wrong. Long may his form continue. That said, Puncheon had another stormer. He caused so many problems for Newcastle and he just never gave the ball away. Top class.
manji Posted 25 November, 2012 Posted 25 November, 2012 Agree with all the above. I also think Yoshida is starting to fit in quite nicely too.
UpweySaint Posted 25 November, 2012 Posted 25 November, 2012 Agree with all the above. I also think Yoshida is starting to fit in quite nicely too. Good shout on yoshida. Looked assured today. Only slight niggle, his clearances were dropping short now and then. Not exactly a beast of a cb but hopefully, given time, the backroom staff will work there manage and he can bulk up a touch just so he has that touch of power all the best cbs have.
sammysaint Posted 25 November, 2012 Posted 25 November, 2012 I thought fonte was quality today at the back attacking wise so many to choose from but i would go for Puncheon.
S-Clarke Posted 25 November, 2012 Posted 25 November, 2012 I thought fonte was quality today at the back attacking wise so many to choose from but i would go for Puncheon. Fonte has probably been our best CB this year.
Julian H. Cope Posted 25 November, 2012 Posted 25 November, 2012 Morgan was immense today, did no-one see that performance!?!?! I did, then again we are going out with each other.
RonManager Posted 25 November, 2012 Posted 25 November, 2012 I did, then again we are going out with each other. Not any more - he's spooning me as I type this post.
pap Posted 25 November, 2012 Posted 25 November, 2012 The Guardian makes Jack Cork man of the match. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/nov/25/southampton-newcastle-premier-league-report I don't necessarily agree with that, but I can definitely see it, and it's oh so marginal. Great bloody feeling
OldNick Posted 25 November, 2012 Posted 25 November, 2012 I voted Shaw as he looks so composed for a 17year old. A top player in the future. Also how can you split MOtm when so many were so good
Bwanamakubwa Posted 25 November, 2012 Posted 25 November, 2012 As someone who believes he knows good football, and occasionally turns out as a centre midfielder Jack Cork was absolutely outstanding today.
Saint Martini Posted 25 November, 2012 Posted 25 November, 2012 Jack Cork. Doesn't particularly do anything special that will stand out to the 'skills school' mongs, but he was outstanding. One of the best tacklers we've had in years. Tackling, controlling the ball and short-passing. The most basic skills in football but so essential, Cork is a master of all three.
carljack Posted 25 November, 2012 Posted 25 November, 2012 Cork and Schneiderlein were the "Water carriers" today, they overran the Newcastle midfield! awesome displays by both.
Dig Dig Posted 25 November, 2012 Posted 25 November, 2012 Toughest MOTM for a while! Went for Cork but could have been anyone really.
Bearsy Posted 25 November, 2012 Posted 25 November, 2012 How come no-one is voting on this Clyde character?
The Kraken Posted 25 November, 2012 Posted 25 November, 2012 Toughest MOTM for a while! Went for Cork but could have been anyone really. Jos Hooiveld?
Colinjb Posted 25 November, 2012 Posted 25 November, 2012 Surprised Gazza has only got 4 votes, especially after the standing ovation he received after that save.
Jack Posted 25 November, 2012 Posted 25 November, 2012 Cork for me, for the 3rd game running. He's been ridiculously good and really makes us tick in midfield. It's no coincidence that we've hit some form with him back in the side.
Golac's Cunning Stunts Posted 25 November, 2012 Posted 25 November, 2012 The Guardian makes Jack Cork man of the match. www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/nov/25/southampton-newcastle-premier-league-report I don't necessarily agree with that, but I can definitely see it, and it's oh so marginal. Great bloody feeling Just read that article. They give MOTM to Puncheon though?
pingwing Posted 25 November, 2012 Posted 25 November, 2012 Lallana for me, the most determined individual for both goals. Gaston was also excellent, as was everyone really. Gazza needs a big mention too, really put a good shift in today

Gazza needs a big mention too, really put a good shift in today Must say, he has looked more and more determined as the season has gone on. Really is starting to look like he belongs in the Prem. Lallana that is
Dig Dig Posted 25 November, 2012 Posted 25 November, 2012 Jos Hooiveld? I liked it when he almost got skinned within a min of coming on!
Pugwash Posted 25 November, 2012 Posted 25 November, 2012 Cork shaded it for me, just ahead of Fonte and Puncheon. Not a single bad performance. Must be the first time that Rickie's not had anyone vote for him, even though he had another outstanding game.
doggface Posted 26 November, 2012 Posted 26 November, 2012 Tuff one. Went for fonte, led from the back won all his headers and blocks. Safety first, about time too. Clean sheet. honourable mention to cork, punch, Ramirez, lallana
